Sorry, apart from a few bars, I simply can't hear the 1-2-3,1-2-3 of a vals. Is the melody over-powering the beat? Anyone have any suggestions? The dancing is wonderful!
Arce's movements are incredible, like water flowing... His enrosques are just ... almost "unreal" and his walking looks like no gravity! But do you really think this video is an improvisation? I wouldn't say so... anyway when one is such a top dancer as they are, everything is possible...
I find it their style (perhaps) to technically master the dance at the cost of simple elegance and profound feeling. No doubt, his moves are difficult, he is master of the tricks but do I really feel the sensation and the seduction of tango? On the other hand, I want to dance with her, simple walk, some little movements here and there but just flow like water with a rhythm and feel her inner charm and sensuality. :) and of course I am not a dancer of his level, not at all, far below his level.
There's a reason for the fancy moves. A lot of tango pros cannot find work as easily if they don't do the fancy stuff. Subtle techniques and "quality" is not always so apparent when viewed over the internet. And it's EASY for everyone to look good when they're going slow and doing easy moves. (Not easy to tell who's best.) And so the top guys distinguish themselves by doing flashy stuff to show that they're better. And they're the ones who get hired...which then forces everyone else to show off.
I didn't see the moves as fancy. I thought that Sebastian Arce was excessively exited as compared to Mariana Montes. He has grown a better dancer now. I actually enjoy watching them dancing together.
So I beg my pardon to criticize, it is not so me though to criticize but I want to feel more the 'inside of tango' than its outside from maestros who perform all over the world. Sometimes it is okay to show great techniques but not in every tanda
I think Ur right about evoking the essence of Tango from within. BUT when your a pro. who is performing for others, They want 2 show that they have mad skills on the floor and people want 2 see them do fancy stuff , Rather than just simple movements feel good 2 dance ,But may not be as exciting 2 watch.
