Geoff Nuttall, 1965-2022

This is Geoff Nuttall one week after his cancer diagnosis in October, 2021. He had just returned from being in the hospital, and uncharacteristically asked me to help him move firewood. After that, Geoff spent some time spreading seeds from this tree branch, which brought him an incredible amount of joy. The sunlight filtered through the bundle of new life as if it were in slow motion, so of course, it had to be captured that way.
I went over to see Geoff last week, and while I was walking to the front door I saw someone crouched down at their neighbor fence patching a hole. I stopped and looked carefully to see whether or not it was him. Of course I knew it wasn't him, but I had to check anyway because he had such a strong force of will in every moment all the way to the end, and maybe it could have have been him...
