This is a pure drumming genius at work. Dave is a world famous drummer and he wasn't part of a world famous band. He did it on his own. A Buddy Rich style
Fantastic work! I like to look at the bar starting at 0:33 as a 7/8. That way, for the whole solo you have accents either on the downbeat or on the last 16th. It also makes sense if you listen to Dave's accents during the solo (one might argue they're all on the upbeat of course). To resolve the whole thing, the bar starting at 2:23 is a 9/8, and voilà :)
I'm burning my drums.....again
I could have followed that red line better it those little black blurry things weren't there.
Let's pour one out for the poor soul who transcribed this piece. I can't even imagine...
What happened to this content? Vic Firth took down the links to the transcription.
Dave gave me his sticks he used at a Sam Ash Clinic in Miami way back in 1999
Been using Dave’s sticks for at least 10 years. Love them
same, and I play rock.. the feel of those sticks is amazing

How did that even fit into bars and measures. Wild.

Awesome 👏✊👍
I keep feeling the upbeat as the downbeat in the solo section.
Me too! Check my comment somewhere in here :)
Nice Jam🍯
