Put a couple pieces of copper pipe in there too, not too much but just a couple 6" pieces of clean scrap. Helps a ton with algae or Apple Cider vinegar. Depends on your pH because copper can leach if low pH is present
I use white vinegar and it does a fantastic job... not toxic to the animals or humans or ground... I've never had to go more than 24 hours. Plus I can't use bleach so there's that.🤪... however as always you do whatcha gotta do. Blessings
Thank you. My mom recently got chickens with her boyfriend. I went to drop off some kitchen scraps and saw the empty water. Decided to clean and fill it but the smell was unbelievable! Thank you for the help! :]
Nice. I need one but I am looking at getting some more infrastructure going with some automated water, automated doors and more new fencing, enclosures for the chickens and ducks. Great video.
Best thing I ever did for my sanity was ditch those water trays that came with the jugs and bought a TON of oil pans from dollar tree. We put a thin flat rock down in the oil pan and set the water jug on top. When it's time to change it out I put a new pan in and take the dirty oil pans and stack them until spring/fall and wash them all in one shot. I take my water jug and do like you did but with vinegar, rinse the rock down every few times and just rotate through jugs every few days😉
My chicken's waterer is disgusting. Let me show you a no-hassle hack that will make it CLEAN...! Go for it!
I ball up a piece of binder twine and use it to scrub. works as well as any scrubbie you can buy.
Good tip
That's genius
I'd like to know how you have your summer water set up done. I'd love to have something like that in my coop
Coming soon!

This is genius!!! Doing that today
How many chickens do you use with the water or that size?
I have 10 hens
A full tank will last at least a week even in the summer
