I know you live in Canada & I have no idea the crime rate but the USA is decreasing in morels & values, such a shame. Still proud to be an American but things are spiraling. How amazing is that man's clock collection. You could see his pride in his collection (and rightly so) when he was showing you around. I also loved the day/night world clock and granddaughter clock. I'd never seen anything like them. it was nice how seeing your home in the paper stayed with her. Thanks for sharing their home. It's going to be sad now that the yard sale season has ended. (Ours has ended in Ontario.) So now what do we do? Auctions??

lol most clocks have a separate winding mechanism for the chime incase you want the clock to work but not the chime, you just don't wind the chime mechanism. Most of his chimes were not wound even though the clocks were.
1st clock I ever bought was off Ebay for $6! Needed repair, but old time English mantle or shelf clock. Only the case needed glue and someone already did the insides that worked great. "Time" to find another one.
awesome. yr passion for collecting is a magnet to others with a similar passion. keep their address in case u come across some clocks u buy that need tlc. invite them to yr house and by the way this clock needs work. haha . I like auctions too, u just need to put it in yr head the amount that u might pay for an item and let it go if it goes too high. easy to say that but mostly I do stop but my hubby has a bad habit if he wants it no price is too much, he is still in training, haha. really cute kitty boots

When you buy a piece of furniture should you not paint them? Or just use varnish on them and would paint hurt the worth of the piece of furniture?
if the finish is nice, leave it. If it's already damaged, then you can go ahead and refinish it or repaint it.... but best value is original finish in good condition.

There's a specialty antique shop in my neighboring town that usually has more than one of those paintings with a small clock as part of the scenery...very pricey.---I'd like to know if you actually did fix up that wall lamp to put in your bathroom. If so, I'd like to see how it turned out!
