Tamil people should not be considered as hindus but should
be considered as a saiva and
      vainava which is our religion
but we are confined into the religion by name hindu.
we are siva and vainava which are our religion.
We don't like to be called as hindu.
      Our gods are sivan ,murugan,

Hey Chris, got to see ur vdos recently. I love how u accept the ppl without judgment. I wanted to put u some insights on the words the pot lady told. The small pot is for lazzi or water or anything to drink. The other small ones "Vilakku" means "Diya" where they put oil and thread and light it during DIWALI. And "thayir" means curd. The flower thing you got is usually used by women in south india they keep it on their hair.

It was fun to watch you go through Chennai. Getting lost indeed resulted in a great experience. You were roaming through Triplicane, the oldest parts of the 500+ year old city, Chennai. The Portuguese and British were settling along the beach road that you were. You were passing by the Parthasarathy temple that is 1200+ years old. The colors on the tower are relatively modern, no special significance. The roadside library you saw are old book sellers near Marina beach. I have wondered about their collection. You missed seeing the fun craziness of a cricket match in Chennai. Overall, I could see you were having a lot of fun, and people were very smiling, honest and nice to you, like the lady who was selling you the mud lamps. The lady who sold you the leaves for the cow was so kind and you fed the cow too. Those two sellers were in front of a famous visionary and poet's house, Bharathiar. Triplicane is also the place where the famous mathematician Ramanujan lived.

The flower garland is meant for ladies, and mostly buy it by their lovely hubbies 😅. There's a Vishnu temple as you saw while walking on the street and people buy a bunch of leaves to feed the cows near the temple, Hindus believe feeding the cows are blessings from the God Vishnu.
I love the CSK t.shirt for 350 rupees much cheaper than our Srilankan prices. You adorned the flag n t.shirt of my favorite team, where there are two Srilankan bowlers playing for CSK as well. It's difficult to get tickets unless you book it online.

Official ticket rates run from INR 50,000 to 2000. They are usually sold out weeks in advance depending on the popularity of the team and the fixture. Assume scalpers will charge a premium. Believe me the 10K price would have been worth the experience. There is nothing like an IPL match. I highly recommend you score a ticket and attend. CSK are now number 2 on the leaderboard BTW!

Chris…if you want to get into reading and since you travel a lot, the most practical thing for you would be an electronic book reader like an Amazon Kindle. I have one and it’s awesome. It’s small, smaller than most tablets and you can load it up with plenty of books for you to read while on an airplane or waiting in airport lounges and such. That’s how I got into reading. Anyhow great adventure as always.
As per that specific book The prophet, I hope that you still have it to read. It’s one of the best selling books of all time and has been translated into over 100 different languages. One of my favorite quotes of all time comes from that book. "You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give."
