It's too bad you don't have hills in England that you could've driven up at 20 mph in 2nd gear and clearly heard any detonation.

SOLVED.
This occurs when there is a BAD tune. Need to lower the power and it will go away. If turbo, lower peak PSI
@@lukeyboy01 not lies. Lower power in NA or lower psi in turbo which lowers power. Octane level is too low causing early detonation. Even running 91+ octane will still cause detonation due to improper tune of power

@@lukeyboy01 I had the same exact problem. Hyundai Genesis coupe 2.0t. Bad tune same problem. Blew a 12.5k engine block from detonation.

Had a similar problem but it turned out to be the intake manifold and throttle was really dirty took it off cleaned it problem solved

my car makes the exact same noise. i just had a used engine installed. What is it? I'm guessing exhaust leak or fuel/air mixture is off leading to pinging. let me know bro.
