Thank you for reminding me of a great day. I spent that day driving Joan, which will probably be the last time I drive the loco the whole length of the line before the end of its 10 year boiler certificate. A slightly underpowered and rough riding engine for the W&L, but still good fun on the somewhat challenging gradients and loads!

Brilliant video, I love the W&LLR and your video certainly does the railway justice!

Very enjoyable John with some fine shots. It is a lovely line, I visited a few years ago and I'd recommend a ride on your next visit as the guards are very helpful in pointing out things of interest on the journey and where the gradients are.

Thank you for a great video, you really picked out the sweet spots ! The thing that surprised me was the use of (Pandrol) clips on the track, in 'my days' it was spikes into standard gauge sleepers sawed in half, that's 50+ years progress for you. I wonder if the polytechnic students still come over in summer to survey the line, must be nice to see all the results of their efforts over the years.

Hello Austin! Do you remember me, Delboy! I came across this film by accident. I've been away for some time now. I retired from the footplate some years ago, but due to this damned epidemic, a for nearly 18months And after 26 glorious years of sheer bliss and pleasure. I still try and get up to Llanfair, last Month (August 2021) to see Management and friends. And, of course a trip up the line. I live in hope to resume my Signalman's duties next year. Thanks for the spot on filming/sound/colours. If you see these comments - please do reply. del.

This reminds me that the area is called "Powys paradwys Cymru", and very appropriately too!

Thoroughly enjoyable and most relaxing to watch, thanks John. This makes the railway really tempting, as does your recommendation, with lovely scenery and a clear demonstration of those gradients. Kind regards, Bob.

The perfect day John..... When's the 'on board' footage? lol. You actually beat us to it as we are stopping off for a trip in two weeks time as we pass by but no time for lineside as well....... probably be pouring with rain by then!! Regards, Brian.

Yes John, I have one of your 'military style' schedules planned which precludes hanging about too long..... This time!! regards, Brian.
