Wow, what a coincidence, I was asking myself this question exactly now. In the middle of my production I had to stop to pay attention to something else more urgent, when I finished the urgency I opened my emails to do a quick check and I came across this video just when I was wondering if I should use one of your loops for a production mine or not!

Wait wait wait…do NOT listen to Rick Rubin on this topic. Rick Rubin is a very special case who came up at a very specific time, and there is absolutely nothing someone with Rick’s life path can actually teach us. Rick Rubin doesn’t have songs. He sits in with bands and says, “make it more like this”.
However, it’s totally fine to rock with samples. Sampling well is NOT easy and I play guitar, piano and drums as well, yet find sampling (with great results), to be just as difficult as mastering the other instruments but it really is helpful to be able to play a guitar or piano along with your beat and know some theory to build on ur track.
