Zak was spot on about the cycle thing (which is why you see the lion king references, circle of life ext..). This whole album is based on Jungian psychology which essentially talks about this natural cycle that we go through as human beings to reach our final selves/form through a process called individuation which starts by basically destroying these ideas that we have of ourselves and discovering the truth about ourselves in order to start anew, and it is this never-ending process that we go through in life.

I was hoping you guys would’ve reacted to their kinetic manifesto come prima version of “ON” since the choreography and energy was amazing in it you would’ve been able to visualize the ANTHEMIC soul of the song itself and not be overwhelmed like you felt in this video, Not many people are into the theories part of BTS MVs and it would just be more confusing to them then to actually enjoy the video or song,The song is still awesome though and I’m so proud of them! and I’m glad you guys reacted to it 💜💜💜

My take of the mv. The dead dove laid the foundation of the mv storyline. "Shot dead by an arrow" represents the death of their dreams, the arrow being the attacks, hatred and difficulties which they encountered since they debuted. They've been drained dry of their passion and zeal for their profession. Burned out so to speak. JK running away from the walled enclosure: I would say that what's inside that wall are their shadows (imperfections, everything that they have denied in themselves and cast into oblivion, or rather everything that their ego has refused to associate with itself) which they hide from ARMY as represented by that forbidding gate. Jungkook shown running from the wall could be them running away from/denying their shadows according to Jungian psychology? That's a recurring theme. Appeared in the Shadows mv too. Tae shown as the crucified Christ with the blindfolded girl symbolizes their love, sacrifices, pain of which ARMY knows nothing about? Then they did say that this album is about their acceptance of their shadows, right? So that acceptance could include the unveiling of the blindfold, of letting ARMY (the girl) see what's not so pretty in them. (I'm thinking that this is why there wasn't any attempt to hide jk's tattoos. There was in fact an almost deliberate move to show them.) The thorny shackle on JK is the same as the arrow, everything which had caused them pain, the challenges they had to face, the hatred, the attacks ... but they turned these (which used to paralyze them) into their strength. The shackle became the conch shell which summoned the force (destructive volcano) which defeated the shadows (dance break dudes). Defeat does not mean destroy. More likely, the applicable term is that they "conquered" their shadows after they used their trials to strengthen them (what doesn't kill you will make you stronger). So, inside the wall was desolation, a hopelessness. But after the defeat/acceptance of the shadow, these aspects of the unconscious psyche were integrated into the conscious experience. The positive aspects of the shadow self were then allowed to express themselves. At this point, the landscape changed. The dove was alive again. 7 were seen flying towards the rock. No more dream became dream. JK came back. He was running again, but this time, towards it and not away from it. He was smiling, eager, excited. Zeal, vigor, enthusiasm are all back. Indeed, ON was their reboot. And namjoon's scene with the ark reflects this theme.

BTS reacted to the MV themselves and said they didn't know what was going on half the time or didn't know the point of some of it. The biblical and Jungian imagery is obviously fitting in with the theme of the whole Map of the Soul project. And the movie references are also pretty apparent. But it doesn't have to be a massively unique or deep story - it can just be what the song is, a simple expression of their growth as 7 artists and the battles they've been through, the pain they've endured, and the conclusions they've made at this stage in their development.

Dear rIVerse, when I hear you say " I wished there were lyrics" you make me yell to the screen, most of the kpop videos have CC in English.. I would love to see you guys appreciate to a %100 kpop music, not only visuals, dancing or voices. There is a whole different world when you know what is behind (lyrics) the song-video, and when you play it on your playlist you are not hearing empty words..you learn to care and like for the music that you are enjoying.. If you didn't understand the end of the MV well "No more dream" was their first single, their first song ever and in this song they were talking 'bout the fact that they didn't had any dreams (exemple: Suga's rap in No more dream ("I have big rings big cars and..... but I don't have any big dreams) and now they are telling us that they have a dream now they have a dream. (Sorry for bad english but I am french hope you inderstand what I said)
