Your grandma telling you not to put too much baking powder, or else… WHILST MEASURING WITH HER HANDS IS MADNESS!! 😂😂😂 I love this!! She said she cooks through her ancestors mmkay!
West Indian mums for you❤. They don’t use measurements. My mum always says add “likkle” salt, pepper etc. it’s the ancestors that tell you exactly how much is “likkle” 😂😂
There's nothing like quality family time. Love seeing you and your grandma making special memories teaching you how to make a family famous dish. Thanks for sharing with us. Your hair is beautiful.
Literally on the verge of tears cuz I’ve been in a funk that I can’t seem to shake off, but as soon as I seen that you posted a vlog, the tears didn’t even come out of my eye balls lol😫 Thank you neicey❤️❤️
A tip for when making the pholouri, if you can't do the hand technique, is to use a spoon... Dip the spoon in water before using it to dip the pholouri mixture to put it in the oil.... It (the mix) literally slides off the spoon and it is less messy... However, the hand technique gets better with practice
It was so sweet watching you cook with your grandma. Those are precious memories. Looks like you got the hang of making them and they looked delicious.
So happy & proud to see the West Indian culture on display. I'm from Trinidad🇹🇹 and pholourie is always a good idea.😏 You looked so sweet and vulnerable learning to cook with granny! Family time is so important. I love your channel and always look forward to your content.
Silk press Neicey is always A VIBE. Whew girl you just keep getting more and more beautiful! & a Toronto vlog? It's always a warming feeling when you're back home with your friends and family. You beam a different light when you're with fam and I love to see it. Thank you for being that ray of light for us that love and support you! What's up on them island food vlogs though? Lol I'm here for it 💜
Your vlogs have a way of just taking people away from all their problems/worries and lift moods while seeing the world through your viewpoint. Love it ❤
This video reminded me of when I am back home!!! I swear Island people are the best! I’m Trinidadian 🇹🇹 and we make and eat pholourie too, no difference! Thanks for the recipe, you know I’m about to attempt some.
Awww! Cooking with grandma's are sweet and funny. They don't know measurements, forget ingredients and it ALWAYS tastes like perfection 🥰😍 favorite part of the vlog!! Thanks for sharing
Grannies are so amazing….so special to still have your granny sis….my granny use to teach me to cook using no measurements….but I needed those measurements…..they go by sight so much harder to me 🥰🥰🥰🥰thank you for sharing really nice to see you with your granny 😍😍
hey neiicey i'm from Guyana and i'm so happy you learn how to make something with your grandmother my indian grandma died before i was born it would be so nice if she was here to teach me to make indian food but it's okay my other grandmother which is African teach me to cook i learn alot from her 🥰🥰 and i also want to say i love you very much your like a big sister to me i love all your videos all your travel vlog you inspired me i want to travel and explore just like you when i'm a bit older 😇😊
Oh my goodness....pepper pot and curry goat!! My family too is from Guyana....you are making me homesick for them and the wonderful food! Some other faves are bake and pine tarts!! So happy to see you so happy with family!!
YESSS!!! The food, the family, the fun. I love the black youtube girlies wtf I been at? I binge watch you and Jasmyn like Girlfriend episodes lol...I'll soon be a vlog girl! Yall are so encouraging and givin free game! Thank yall!
Granny is old school and I'm here for it. We usually just use the packaged split peas powder which is much quicker but i think i wanna try her way. You can find tamarind in any of the Caribbean stores in Texas. I got some at a Jamaican restaurant and grocery but I can't remember the name 🤦🏾♀️
Neiicey your silk press looked bomb girl!!! Such gorgeous hair! The food you made looked good too. Beautiful family! Great vlog! Gma teaching you how to make that Guyanese dish was too cute! I enjoyed!! 💜💜☺️👍🏽
This vlog is right on time, Neiicey! I just sat down with my hot bowl of white beans & turkey sausage soup I made in the midst of this Winter Storm in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas! I was literally on a plane yesterday coming back from Florida, and was telling one of the passengers that she looked like you. LOL...
Your COUSIN (?) in the background when you were cooking/ your grandma interjecting commentary ("...but she's asking WHAT KIND of pepper...?", "you have to soak them overnight...", etc) was SO FUNNY to me! 😁 This whole video was great but the family portion, esp. the cooking w/grandma, was awesome!
Love your granny teaching you to make delicious polourie. If you need to find the de tamarind look in a latin supermarket as they use tamarind a lot as well.
So good to see you home with your family I remember this time of year in your vlogs hey grandma, Niecy spicy to you 😫😫😂😂continuous blessings fam 🙏,glad you enjoyed
I love this! The way you and your grandma were making that dish reminds me of my Nigerian dish called Akara. The way my mom made it, it’s basically chopped onion, garlic, seasoning, water, and beans blended in the blender. My mom also used habanero peppers for spice. Then she heats up a pan of oil and drops the blend into the hot oil. We fry it until it’s brown
In Trinidad 🇹🇹 we have something similar called accra. We add flaked saltfish with the chopped seasoning to the flour & baking powder to make the batter, then fry... no beans. It resembles pholourie and we eat it with mango chutney and tamarind sauce as well. Soooo good!
Neiicey, soo good to see you spending time with your family in Toronto. ❤ All the food looked delicious, including the dish you made with Grandma! I can tell she cooks with Love and everything tastes amazing. Your silk press is beautiful, looks like you went to the salon! 🥰🔥That’s a cute scarf. Lol @ Dana. 😂 Loved this vlog! 💗💕
You have to try the WOW hair spray. I have thick long hair like yours as well and I tried the spray before blow drying. It’s a game changer for sure and I love the results after I flat iron.
Im🤣🤣 soon as you said Mac n Cheese, I was like sis been in the states a minute her lingo changing. Lol a few seconds later you like HOL'UP macaroni pie. I love it
Hi Shanice, your hair is beautiful!! You did such a great job😍😍😍 Can you share the shampoo and conditioner that you used as well. Thank you for sharing all of your content!

OMG! Your hair came out so good. I wanna get those hair products to try a at home silk press. You also have a beautiful family! The food looked soooo yummy! I even wanted a plate LOL!!! I need to plan a trip to Toronto!
