Knowing that you usually do eat/finish most of these foods off camera adds a sort of depth to these videos. Like we can connect to your enthusiasm and it makes for more than just watching Steve eat old food.
Hi! I have been watching your videos all night and just had to subscribe. I've got to admit, this is so far out of my realm of things I am normally interested in- but you've turned me into a very fascinated watcher. You have a great video presentation and I love all the detail you go into about each item, this is SO interesting! It's so dope you know all the history about where the cans came from, even down to some plane crashes. I am officially checking out the MREInfo page and will be following your videos. You're a brave man, thanks for sharing these unique pieces of history with us!
I've had the Civil Defense sucrose supplements dated in the early to mid 60's. It was pretty good. The water had rusted through most of the cans, and what didn't was sent off to be tested, to which it came back with high iron and lead readings.
hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out military survival kit try Franaar Spies Control Formula (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my colleague got excellent success with it.
I'm not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about survival food for sale try Franaar Spies Control Formula (just google it ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
This video actually reminded me of the Food packet survival general purpose. Never purchased any food bars like these but damned if it doesn't make me hungry thinking of them. I'll have to purchase some food packet survivals now and maybe look into some of these to keep in my food storage. Fantastic upload bomb as usual! Took me awhile to watch them all, but everyone was worth the watch! You have become my favorite ration reviewer real quick, and are the first I watch. Great as always Steve and can't wait for the next video! 👍
Your MRE videos rock . I love watching them. I hope you don't mind telling me where you get your stuff. I cant find alot of it that i would like to experience.
Dude you should seriously look into doing audiobooks, I would seriously buy anything you read. I have been binging your vids all morning and mostly just listening as I work and I have been very productive and calm just listening, awesome.
Okay Steve you made me jump in and I ordered some Datrex bars,I've been meaning to get a few MRE's and these for emergency power outages/camping and such. The Datrex is cheapest so I'll start there and ordered one to actually taste and if it's decent I'll grab four packs or so,then later I'll grab some MRE's.
On the "in date" one, it might be the oily stuff they put over it to preserve the packaging. Not sure, but the oils used for that do smell similar to what you're describing. The oils used for when you made jam (and alike) in the old days that is.
When theres Nutritional info stamped on Rations, Could you slow pan on it Please ? I always wonder about the Protein /Carb/calorie content. Love you'r Vids.
If you really want to cover the whole "abandon" category, get an M6 survival rifle, hunt something with it and cook it for dinner! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M6_survival_rifle
Do you know when they stopped putting MREs in clear plastic? Have a few newer ones I'm enjoying, a few from around 2004 that you've given me the courage to eat because I'm betting they're fine, and an old chicken tetrazzini with no markings and a faded wrapper, that one looks at least 30 years old. I asked the guy I bought the early ones from about that one, his simple response: "I ain't eatin' it." Lol!
when i was 10 or 11 the town i lived in had a problem and the water was not drinkable. so anheuser busch canned water was used everywhere at school, social events, home just white cans with the emblem on it said drinking water.
I wonder with the newer one that smelt bad but tasted good if it has to do with the wrapping interacting with the vitamins and whatever little moisture there is in the ration bar. I find the ones wrapped in waxed parchment, new or old seem to smell as good as they tast.
I recently tried a survival ration much like the datrex that's available at Walmart. despite being completely in date, it was horrible. it had that sawdust texture and the worst 'Apple-cinnamon' flavor ever. I could barely finish a while bite of it. it wasn't even enough footage to bother making a video. in fact, I think it's the worst thing I've ever eaten!
+FoolishDoug Ha! Couldn't agree more! Well, actually, my Walmart sometimes has 2 varieties of bridgeford sandwiches. I tasted the BBQ beef one. It wasn't very great. Nice flavor but very mushy; no texture.
I haven't seen Bridgeford in any Walmart I've been in yet. But I don't typically visit the camping area being pressed for time or close to being out of driving hours. I know the Walmart near where I live has Mountain House pouches but that's it.
mattbluesmantastic I didn't see distilled on the package, but if it was, DI water keeps way longer in storage because it's less reactive. I think the idea would be to get mineral ions in through the food instead of risking the ionized water compromising its package

I wish they still sealed cans with lead 😊

I've had Datrex and SOS bars before. They do get that funny smell from the oils and stuff they pack them in. The Datrex bars are really nice though.
Your MRE videos rock . I love watching them. I hope you don't mind telling me where you get your stuff. I cant find alot of it that i would like to experience.
Love watching Steve, he reminds me of Ian from Forgotten Weapons. But instead of specializing in guns and whatnot he specializes in MRE/Rations.
Those Datrex bars are nice. I keep a bag in my car both for if I get stuck somewhere but mostly if I'm a little hungry. Coconut snack cookies.
I remember when they showed us samples of these in Navy Boot Camp, that pack of hardtack-like biscuits in particular

Great content as always! Pretty interesting that they used pemmican in the survival rations
Documenting history for our pleasure! Thanks steve. Really love this stuff.
shout out to Steve. hope you and your family and friends are ok and doing well and safe from the hurricanes in your area.
bob thompson hope so
Woohoo!! Waking up to seeing new vids from you is the best way to wake up 😁
Rewatching Steve's whole gamut. I think this is the first episode where hey says "Let's get this out onto a tray. Nice!"
Doing the same. The video right before this comparing the two tuna with noodles (frozen vs not) was the first time I think.
So that's the project you've been working on. Totally worth the wait, awesome new vids!
so glad I recently found your channel, so much cool stuff to watch!
It been too long u beautiful crazy person. Welcome back on this rainy monday.
Rainy Monday? It's hot outside bro....
This man is just not even phased when something passes it’s expiration date.
Let's get it on a tray, nice.

Best mre reviewer ever! Love when you say NICE, and basically EVERY review you have ever made!
He deserves much more than 10 Million subscribers.!!

The music in the intro gives me flashbacks an I never seen combat nor was in the military! 😭

It's a review nuclear bomb! Lol keep dropping those bombs brotha
Lets get it out on a tray........nice.
Whoa that emergency water was shocking
Love these videos. Keep posting please.
I got to sleep to your videos. Thanks.
Those fortified food bars look to be a right bit more appetizing than those strange jelly bars from the old days
i'm comin over for a biscuit party dude, lol
+Steve1989 MREinfo haha, that's a great story man, thanks so much for sharing.

Steve: Honey where are my naval survival rations?
Wife: The 57,59,or 65?
Steve: Don't be ridiculous hun. The 67.

Very interesting!
Hey, I can't find the Gundog civil defense water video. Can you link it?
yeeeeyyy new loot :) . Hi Steve
Your voice is like Valium
You'll have to market recordings of your voice and sell those at airports.
How much does a Valium pill go for these days? ...
***** My pleasure.
FoolishDoug They go for about tree fiddy. (I don't actually know)
+Steve1989 MREinfo I agree as well, you have a cool voice, are you from southern California? you sound like we do down here in the San Diego area.
+FoolishDoug between 50p and a pound a pop in the uk
Let's get it out on a tray, nice. I can't stop laughing :)
how do you get started on doing reviews these are great where do you find them
I wonder with the newer one that smelt bad but tasted good if it has to do with the wrapping interacting with the vitamins and whatever little moisture there is in the ration bar. I find the ones wrapped in waxed parchment, new or old seem to smell as good as they tast.
Oh man I've had those bar rations before they aren't so great.
the apple cinnamon ust bars are good :)
I'd guess its the thiamin making it smell funky
Nice!
NICE
dude! have you ever gotten sick from that stuff
I don't see Tarstakar on your list in the description section.....
Biscuits and gravy. where is can of sausages?
Perhaps the new bar was packaged wrong...
i have survival ration packet general purpose for aircraft MFD.date 07/2013 used by croatian air force made in usa
SOS food bars: "They smell awful, but they work!"
What should be a no-brainer hits me as a total surprise that "emergency drinking water" packs are a thing.
I know shocking, ain'nit?
Where's the new video for this week Steve?
older the better??
Tory Knotts Definitly, for sure in my book
What was the date on the waters?
ya I got one of the food things and it was oily and smelled liked dog food
It probably smelled rancid on purpose to prevent a drunk sailor from breaking in to em.
Is this the first NICE video?
try the russian once of these
Do you have any survival/emergency rations from other countries?
+Steve1989 MREinfo Yes please! I greatly enjoy your channel and I always look forward to each video that you upload!
to think I went through all these changes in my life up to adulthood while those cereal bars sat in the same spot..hard to wrap your head around
Something strange about water in a bag
😎👍🏼cool
Ok so this probably time to get off internet now x)
Look at thos thumbs
I was born in january 95' but I didn't expire in 2000 😂

+Alex Jackson Only good "survival" rations that come out of Wal-Mart are cat food tins and Mountain House.

Sean mcgloin In my experience that never works.
Steve wear are you?
0:10
I want to make my own survival ration kit..
The vitamins can smell terrible.
Why on earth would they put distilled water in there? that's almost as bad as sea water to drink.
mattbluesmantastic I didn't see distilled on the package, but if it was, DI water keeps way longer in storage because it's less reactive. I think the idea would be to get mineral ions in through the food instead of risking the ionized water compromising its package
'Almost as bad.' Given that one will, without access to fresh water, kill you in short order, I think that's a stretch.
Yes because distilled water will cause severe dehydration in a matter of hours just like sea water. Are you alright?
I wonder if the crashed DC3, is the one Top Gear's Clarkson and May found?
