When I first got into resin casting about 2 years ago, I purchased Vevor's 10 gallon pressure pot because it was the cheapest 10 gallon pressure pot I could find. Sometimes you're in for disapointment when buying cheap tools, but that wasn't the case with the Vevor pressure pot. Fast forward to today... Vevor reached out asking what product I would be interested in, and without hesitation I requested the same pressure pot. I guess they were phasing out their 10 gallon pots, but their 8 gallon pots are half the price of the 10 gallon pots and worth every cent. The pots are intended for paint pressure applications, so used @JakeThompson 's video as a guide for updating them for resin casting: • How to convert ANY Pai... The Vevor pressure pots seem to be very well made, and in my experience they have been very reliable. If you're looking to save $$$ you really can't beat that.

Now, about this project... This manzanita burl was staring at me from the shelf for quite a while. It was the type of gnarly piece that has tons of interesting characteristics, so many of which are, sadly but inevitably, reduced to dust. The struggle of working with pieces like this is that the majority of spikes and protrusions, although interesting and dramatic, must ultimately be sacrificed for the sake of the larger form hiding somewhere in the overall form of the burl. The other problem is determining how much resin to use or, perhaps more accurately in my case, to abuse. Keeping the majority of the gnarly features attached to the burl meant that I had to make a larger resin pour in a larger bucket. Yay, more silly string! Perhaps if I had known exactly how the final piece would look like, I would have been able to minimize epoxy waste and optimize the casting. But I'm not a prophet, and I don't like to remove options by chopping away too much of the burl ahead of time. The wood always takes precedence over the resin, and the focus should never be on the resin but on the wood itself. The resin is purely there to enable the wood to be all it can be or at least to enable the wood to be more than what it could have been without the stabilization prowess of plastic. In the end, I was going for a more curvy version of a hollow form with slender base, a well-defined neck and shoulders. This piece may eventually be for sale on my website, but if you are interested in purchasing it before I put a price tag on it, please contact me through my website: www.adamsenwoodcraft.com/contact

You are the first YT wood turner I have ever watched, and you made this vase look like glass!!! 👏🏾 Thank you, David, for coming back and for once again sharing your beautiful art!!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks so much!
Please lose the ring when you're working bro, finger degloving injuries are NASTY@@DavidAdamsen
I don’t think I’ve seen a turner add holographic glitter before, it’s beautiful. I love the high gloss epoxy finish, it enhances all the elements.. the burl, color mix and classical vase shape. It’s just a gorgeous combination.
Thank you 🤌✌️
I always wondered how a vase could cost so much to buy. Now I know. The effort, craftmanship, materials and time involved is insane. Amazing job! Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate that. It is a lot of work, but hopefully worth it to produce something one-of-a-kind.
سبحان الله خالق كل شيء نأمل أن تشكر الله بهذه طريقة ❤لا اله الا انت سبحانك اني كنت من الظالمين ❤وسترى عملك فيه خيرا كثير شكرا على مجهوداتك
'Stunning' could very well be an understatement for this fine work. It's surprising to me how you took an ugly, old, spiked burl and converted it into that masterpiece of fine craftsmanship. Your artistic ingenuity and creativity never cease to amaze me, David, as my respect for your trade increases tenfold every instance I gaze at another one of your beautiful creations. Keep-up the extra-fine work, and thanks for sharing this experience with us.
Thanks so much!
The production quality is absolutely stellar. What amazing audio production!
Thanks Ezra!
The contrast in colors is incredible - what an utterly exquisite piece! 😮❤
Thank you so much!
David, I'm blown away by the exquisite balance and skill in this piece. The chatoyance you've created in the resin mimics but doesn't overpower the figured chatoyance in the manzanita, and (as always) the vase has an exquisite curve. Stunning!
Thanks so much!
To take something so raw and natural and turn it in to the most beautiful and exquisite pieces makes my heart melt.
Cheers Susan!
Cleaning up all those resin ribbons must drive you insane! And as always, a beautiful piece of art xx
Are those wood resins safe for our planet when discarded??
@@galloping3265 I hope you are kidding.
Wowza! This is absolutely gorgeous! It’s like eye candy to me! I love it. It went from a scary piece of wild looking roots to a gorgeous masterpiece! Bravo!
Thank you so much!
David it looks absolutely fantastic well done👍
Thanks 👍
That is so beautiful. One of a kind, it can never be recreated. I am just blown away. That belongs in a museum. No doubt a 100 years from now it will be.
This is why I don't do resin bowls anymore. The chips can injure you, it dulls your gouges quickly, and it takes about 5 times longer to turn because you take off so little at a time. It looks very nice eventually, but unless you have someone willing to spend big dollars on your finished project, you don't get much out of the process but a large mess. I prefer to reveal the mysteries inside the wood and work with imperfections.
Сколько стоит такая ваза?
I can’t stand the smell of resin turning.
I can't imagine cleaning up the mess.. beautiful results tho.😊
I’m sure the shavings and dust are extremely unhealthy as well!
@@metalheartmachine I'm with you there. It just feels a little unnatural but I must admit sometimes it can really add to a piece.
You are unbelievably talented, I hope your work earns more than it costs.
This is absolutely gorgeous!! The resin work perfectly complements the wood and the design and you feel like you’re looking almost into the Milky Way and creation. Love, love, love your work..
Thanks!!
Hi David. Two days ago I was rewatching some of your old videos hoping you would make a new one. Thanks so much for this your work is breathtaking.
Thanks for watching! ✌️
it is always a pleasure to watch your work; your masterful craftsmanship and exceptional videography make for a rare and unmatched combination.
Thank you very much!
Just beautiful. You always amaze me with the gift you have for looking at a rough piece of wood then being able to turn it into a stunning piece of art. I'm learning to work with resin so I'm taking the names down of the mica powders you used with this resin. They were really nice. I use Eye Candy also, it's a good product. Wish those chambers you use came in a much smaller size, I'd like to have one about the quarter the size of yours to use to remove bubbling from resin. More videos please!
Thanks! They have lots of different sizes, even down to 2.5 gallon I think.
@@DavidAdamsen I’ll go check those out. Thank you.
The gnarlier the burl, the more beautiful the result. Stunning piece!
Thank you!
Wow ur vase is stunningly beautiful, black diamond epoxy is a treasure & ur vision, turning & finished product is lovely 😊
Thanks Karen!
I’m not sure of anyone has mentioned it yet but the editing and production of this video was awesome! You added some new things in and it made the video a lot of fun. Also, seems like you got some new tools - congrats! Your work is stellar. Keep being awesome :)
Thanks so much!! I appreciate that.
How nice that you are back…love the workmanship..you are an inspiration…….thanks to the sponsors….would not missed it for the world….congratulations
Thank you very much!
I know you don't do videos very often but when you do, they are worth waiting for. You turned that spiky weirdness into a thing of beauty. ❤👏👏
Thanks so much, Lynn!
Craftsman’s unbelievable! You are so talented my friend. Truly your calling. Thanks for letting us into your imagination.
Thanks Rebecca!
Beautiful and creative!
Thanks!
Yes! A new video about woodturning: something I have learned only a few months ago and been addicted to your channel ever since.
Awesome, thank you!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible. It is so memorizing. It literally looks like the stars were combined with wood and printed on a pot with a clear coat on top.
So glad to see your work again. Have missed your creativity. This is a beautiful piece of art!
Absolutely stunning piece! Great video as well. Well done sir!
Thank you!
Sir you never disappoint!!! Thank you David for sharing .
I recently came across your channel. It blows my mind that you only started turning wood in December 2018. Your work is amazing.
Wow! The finish you achieve is truly next level! I watch a lot of wood turning videos, but I haven’t seen anyone else who takes the finish to such a high level of smoothness and shine. Subscribed! 😃
Thanks!! 🤌
Beautiful vase and you did an excellent job making and turning it!!
I enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you!
Geez oh man David.. this is got to be my favorite piece to date. Your music, filming and editing is like watching a professional program. Dang! I’d sure like to own a piece of your art but I’m sure it’s outta my budget lol. Gorgeous 🇺🇸👍🏼
I just read in your description box for more info on this video, very informative and educational.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed this one!
Absolutely beautiful. Fantastic work.
Thank you!
You are a creative genius. It's always exciting to see a new project posted, thank you so much!!!
I appreciate you!
I can see you've started mastering the art! Well done, once again a beautiful piece!
Thanks!
An outstanding work of art sir, simply stunning. Thanks for all your hard work, on both sides of the camera.🌿 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks so much!
So beautiful! the colors you picked, and the wood grain, is gorgeous!
Always beautiful works of art.
Thanks Kim!
Exceptional craftsmanship, beautiful creation. The burl is a beautiful piece of wood, I’m curious as to why black is always used in wood turning projects. I’m old fashioned, I like a beautiful natural wood. It says so much about the growth.
Your an exceptional artist.
Thanks! Well I can’t speak for everyone, but I like black epoxy because it doesn’t distract too much from the burl. It almost acts like a shadow whereas colored and vibrant epoxy tends to compete with it. I’ve done both, and both have their purposes.
WOW DAVID!!! 🎉 I could tell... you had fun with this gorgeous beast! 😅 That sparkle is epic!
Thanks, yeah this was a fun one!
Absolutely incredibly beautiful!
Stunning!! Absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you so much!
That ia absolutely gorgeous ❤
Thanks!
Thanks for the trouble you go to to share with us!😊 Many blessings to you and yours 😊
Thank you! Same to you.
Brilliant - the finished piece but also the video! Thanks for sharing your skills with the world.
Thank you very much!
It looks like a globe of a Planet with continents made of wood and made oceans of stars, that's badass.
Stunning, David! It looks so amazing! 😃
Fantastic work!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you man! You too!
What an achievement to make something to rough and spikes to some so smooth and beautiful. You’re amazing! Have you ever had a chance to work with some of the Malley root in Australia. Very rough and hard wood, but beautiful when in a master’s hands.
Thanks! I have worked with it very minimally. Someday I will tackle some more.
It's always refreshing when someone figures out what they were meant to do. Beautiful piece.
That means a lot. Thanks!
Well, look at what ya gone, did, and done! Another home run, David!!!! You knocked it out of the ball park on this one. Very nice.
Thanks so much! I appreciate that!
I am in awe at your artistry! I'm seriously wondering what i could sell to afford one of your creations
Stunning as ever David! I am now never surprised that you can take something that people would throw away and find its beauty. And the shine was exquisite. I would ask you if you've ever waited for a short while for the resin to cure before pouring in order to keep the colours from merging? I've seen that done by other resin users and the results are outstanding! You really see the separation of the individual colours more. No criticism of your piece at all. I would buy that in a heartbeat if I had the money!😍
Thanks very much! Yes, I have tried delaying the pour to get more color separation, but my shop is not very well temperature controlled. These past summer months end up curing deep pour epoxy in 20% of the time it normally takes. I will definitely try it more though.
FINALLY! Someone that does it right... and also has a good eye for design.
Such a fine and delicate shape and stunning colors! Beautiful all around. 👏
Thank you! ❤️
That is an awesome spike burl vase!!
Love the color combo. Beautiful piece
Thank you!
From frightening to fantastic! Well worth the effort!
Thank you very much!
The sheer love of the craft is all that matters folks!
absolutely stunningly beautiful! THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much!
This is just an awesome piece that someone will be proud to own.
That was incredible. Really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I feel privileged to see you actually make this lovely vase.
Thanks for watching!
Very elegantly done. 😮
That vase is actually stunning
Thanks!
I'm glad you gave us the encore glamour shots because I wasn't done admiring that perfection, David.
Thanks, Jay! I really appreciate that. 🤌
This is absolutely beautiful 😍😍😍😍 I love it!!!
Thank you!
After watching this and reading your description of the project all I can say is you NAILED it! This is beautiful.
Thanks Dave!
The Bible tells us "Where there is no vision, the people perish!" That's what you are David, an Artist with a vision! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, thank you Rich! I truly appreciate that. ✝️
Once again… Absolutely Stunning!!! I really like your rotating epoxy curing station 🔥🔥🔥👍✌️
Thanks Jeremy!
You have done a great work. Such a beautiful design 👍👍
Thank you so much!
A great result, I love the way it feels like you're looking into the night sky through the voids left in the original burl.
Thanks so much!
I love your videos! Try to make them more frequently please!
Thanks! I am trying. 🤞
Phenomenal piece of art. Great job.
Добрый день ! Из такой каряги сделать произведение искусства ! Браво, у Вас прерасный вкус и талант ! ❤❤❤
I have never seen such an amazing transformation. Fantastic.
Great job. The color selections for the resin where spot on. Lovely piece.
Thanks Doug!
Great craftsmanship, looks fantastic 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Thank you for another great video. I’m always excited to see a new project under your name. While I’m not a huge fan of resin (to me it’s just turning plastic) there is no denying your amazing artistry. I know resin is having a moment now, but on behalf of us lovers of the purity of wood, I long to see you return to making heirloom pieces that will be prized family possessions for generations.
I appreciate your comment. You’d be surprised how many projects I’ve started, hoping to avoid resin, and then ending up needing it to rescue the piece. I agree though. Resin is probably a phase, but it still seems to be growing.
That is a beautiful piece of wood just as it is. Glad to see you are not going to completely deconstruct it. What a beautiful vase!!! It makes me think of an Italian amphora for wine or olive oil.
Thanks so much! Yeah thankfully this one held together!
I think this is one of your best pieces ever. Well done!
Wow thanks!
Absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you!
Manzanita is one of my favorite woods. Your artistic ability is outstanding. Very beautiful piece!

Absolutely stunning. An art museum quality piece.
Thanks!
Manzanita is my favorite wood to turn. Amazing work, as always.
Wow the finished piece is so beautiful!!! ❤
Beautiful😍
Magnificent artwork in every way with a fantastic video to boot! 👏
Thank you so much!
That is beautiful! Great finish!
Thank you, Chris!
Absolutely beautiful. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous work!
So, beautiful, outstanding work, as are all of your pieces, the time it takes to finish a piece is no doubt unmeasurable. So my question is, Do you do your own editing as well !!!????? That has to be a crazy amount of screen time !!!!! Great videos as well!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Edit: I bet you went to school, The school of hard KNOTS.... 🤣🤣🤨
Thank you very much! Yes, it’s a one man show lol.
That is sensational. ❤ No other word will do....... sensational! 👋👋👋👋👋
Thanks!
Awesome masterpiece ❤😊
Thanks!
Beautiful Vase! Great Work!
