2017 Audi A6 Unboxing - The BMW 5 Series' Worst Nightmare

- Today we have for you an unboxing review of the 2017 Audi A6, one of the finest all-around mid-size luxury sport sedans on the market. It's number one enemy? The BMW 5 Series, which has just been completely redesigned, begging the question whether or not the current A6 stands a chance until its successor arrives. Of course it does, because any self respecting Audi fan would never jump ship to BMW, and vice versa. Our A6 tester is the 3.0T competition Quattro, a new trim level for 2017 that features nothing but Audi goodness throughout. For the record, it's based on the Prestige trim but features additional sport hardware and is equipped with the Black Optic Package for some wicked cool stealth-fighter/bomber-like awesomeness.
Power is brought to you by a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of twist, and is hooked up with an 8-speed automatic that sends power to all four wheels (hence 'Quattro'). With its black on black (always bet on black, BTW) color scheme, we were nothing but impressed with this A6. Some BMW 5 Series fanboys may disagree. Enjoy the review!

I own a 2016 3.0t prestige w/ APR tune and it's a beast. 88K miles and no issues. Definently recommend the A6.!

This car has aged so damn nicely. Kudos to Audi. The next gen A6, A7, and A8 are going to be ridiculously amazing.
We had an a 2015 Audi A6 diesel with S-line trim. It was great car.
Tried one of these today. The car itself was fine, but the seats must've been designed for someone twice my size - I was sliding all over the place. These seats seem better, though the fully adjustable ones in BMW F10 seem pretty hard to beat. If only that thing wasn't so tight in the back...
I own a 2017 A6 competition s-line with the V6. The interior is very nice, good ride and quiet. The 20” tires will be pricey to replace when that times comes. It’s winter driving capabilities are very impressive. MMI is easy to use for us non tecky types.Surprised at the decent mpg. As I only have 12K kms on it, too soon to comment on reliability.🇨🇦
Great video. Anywhere you know that I can see android auto working in the 2017 a6? Like you said, it's a serious selling point for a lot of us.
Should also note that the A6 is the successor to the Audi 100 (Audi 5000 in USA).
The 2018, next gen Audi A6 is coming at the end of this year and will likely be larger since the next gen A4 has grown.

@@sentimental89 So far the only issue was in our radiator. The temperature sensor went off, and because of that, the radiator kept on running even after the car is turned off. The company fixed it. That was the only issue I had. It so far has been a very reliable car.
@@narendeepan oh ok. That's not drastic. Talk about reliability, I've been doing Toyotas and Hondas, but I want to try this..

fyi Flat-bottom steering wheel not available with heat. Round wheel is heated along with heated rear seats as the optional 'heat package'.

Thank you! Well, now that there's a new E-Class on the market, probably that. Then again, I'd wait to make a final decision until Audi launches its next-generation A6.
I quite like the A6, but the satnav screen is so low resolution it just looks fuzzy.
The new A4 interior isn't as nice as the mk4 A6, and I hope the new A6 interior is better than the new A4.
I will probably change my car in 2 years time, so I am going with the new 5 series, but the mk5 A6 might be tempting next time.
Is this the version for the US market ? Because Europe one is slightly different.
Does this car have the interior ambient lighting?
I am hooked. Just purchased a used 2016 A6 3.0T just to see if I liked it instead of brand new and shelling out max bucks. And not knowing if I would really enjoy it. That Supercharged V6 is wonderful, powerful and refined.

I wish they would do quad exhaust tips and go away from those tip covers everyone now uses.
Not a fair comparison in terms of horse power. This Audi is the competition package which you pay a lot more for more HP. With that said, even the regular Audi A6 still has more HP then 535i. I am being objective here, I am a 535i M sport owner. I have to admit, the A6 is a nice car all around, but when I drove both, the 535i made me a feel a way that the A6 could not get me.

And i got with manuel gear. The 1,and 2 gear can be a little “not slide” sometimes, but its normal. Good diesel km, super comfort, and its fassst!

Driver Assistance Package: $2500.00. I could not DISAGREE with you more. All of those features are a complete waste of time with maybe the exception of the cornering cameras which I have not seen on this car but it at least sounds interesting. Adaptive cruise control? Please...
Who even uses that feature? Oh wait...Maybe that would be nice on the 405 at rush hour which is.....always.

I'm disappointed that you didn't actually drive the car to explain how the difference in the horsepower is from the non competition package.

And this is comparable to the new 540i which is 370hp not 300hp and that also comes with an 8spd DC

2017's do have carplay and android Auto in the US at least!
Good review...but this wouldn't compete with the Cadillac CTSV...save that for the S6 and their 4 liter turbo V8....the V6 A6 competes closer with their V6 ATSV

The interior looks identical to the current model with plastic at the bottom of the doors and black wood which might as well be plastic since it looks and feel identical...and it doesn't have Audi's new display...The seat stitching is nice though but I would not call this an amazing interior seeing as you can buy an old one that looks the same.
It doesn't have Audi's new display because, like I said in the review, this A6 is a few years old. I also think Audi interior design (along with its build quality) has sort of a timeless look; it always looks good.
CTSV is 640 HP.
what upgrade are those seats. Thet dont come with the a6 normally
It was a sport package. Those seats are from the S6.
The competition package comes with the S6 seats. Minus the embossed S6 logo

I personally like it better that the new 7 series but I hate the eco start stop feature, it's really annoying
This does not compete with a 7 series or any Limo, but it's a nice car. BMW also has the annoying start stop which just causes a delayed start at each light so I didn't like it either.

I went for the audi a6. It is a smooth drive, very comfortable, it has everything I can ask for. I'm 29, am I too young for this car?
Audi's interior details are amazing, but a still prefer the e class :/
Yeah, the new E-Class has a great interior but I still personally prefer that of the A6.
The New E class and 5 series all have better interiors than this, even the Jaguar Xf autobiography has a better interior with materials used. The Lexus Gs 450 h presidential line has a better interior as well. The best thing about this car is the leather seats, very nice and look supple. And I don't see much Audi would do to the new model when it's out other add the newer screens like on the A4.
I think we just need to be patient until the next generation A6 launches. Based on what I saw from the new A4, the next A6 could very well set a new standard in just about every category.

James Mendoza It's definitely the A6 S-Line, not the S6. There are a few key differences. The S6 has a 4L V8, not a 3L V6. The S6 has "S6" on the steering wheel, the guage cluster, on the exterior and embossed on the seats. The S6 also has quad exhaust tips.

I prefer the a3 cause it is smaller and not at a bad price, its all the power you will ever need in modern car. No one really needs a sports car cause you will only ever go 70mph at the most

If it were me, I would not buy the Competition as I do not like "Black Optic". Black optic makes the car look no better than an economy vehicle that just has the black rubber surrounding the window frame.
I like the Competition pack but, yeah, it's expensive. I also think that color combos are very subjective.
Not a smart buy right now platform is old and reports say the new a6 and a7 is due for 2018
I think it would be a smart buy now, The car has been out for a while so they have done everything to perfect it. The new one might have new problems...

Well, we don't know if the BMW 5 Series is the benchmark. Why? Because the all-new 5-Series was just revealed in September.

I just can't behind the title...the sheet metal design is still boring from the previous version...wouldn't be surprised if the assembly people fell asleep putting it on...needs edgier lines...this car gets easily lost in any parking lot..
And that Inspector Gadget Pop Up Nav screen looks awful...manual sunshade for the sunroof? BMW has a powered version. Its interior against a 5 series is a even fight...against an E-class and the A6 gets floored in the second round...
Yeah a lot of 40k cars have that, let alone 70k+ ones, but it's not like a dealbreaker feature. The issue is this is not the updated A6, Audi only really updated the TT and R8 so far with their new displays and design.
Definitely not a deal breaker, but its those small touches that elevate the overall experience at this price point...
I think an Audi fan would be making some of the same remarks against BMWs you just did about Audis. It's all relative. But yeah, I definitely think Audi designers need to get more creative.

And you're saying the A6's interior isn't sleek and civilized? And I have sat in the new 5 Series at Paris. Very impressive, but Audi, in my opinion still takes home the gold for overall interior quality and materials.

+ John Petito I live in Germany and the top dog here is Porsche with BMW in second place. Mercedes are just taxi cars and Audis are considered as overpriced VWs. If you can't afford Porsche or BMW, you buy Audi or Mercedes. That is how the brands are recognized for most German people. To say that Audis are better made are just plain bullshit since their reliability is even worse than most BMW models. To say that they are better designed is a matter of personal taste/opinion. RS, M and AMG models are all identical in performance and therefore, your comment is void lol

Audi C6 CVT gearbox failed unexpectedly. Lesson Learnt - German cars are unreliable, expensive and not worth their market value. For the price of a new CVT or repairs, I bought a Japanese car and can bet the house it will outperform and return a better return on investment.
