From Sentinel beams to glassing beams, today we're looking at some of the main methods of sterilisation that the Forerunners, Covenant and UNSC use in the event of a Flood outbreak, some of which we'll hopefully see in a few weeks (CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S THIS SOON) when the Flood make their glorious return!

you can also make biofuels out of oil and alcohol, catalyzed with concentrated acids or bases. Not nearly as effective, but it may be good enough with a little tweaking.

I have a quick question: do regular civilians know about the flood ? I mean considering the size of the combat zone in Africa I'd imagine that a marine could've revealed what happened no ?

There would be both but with most of the forerunner forces being sentinels and little to no pormetheans and proof of this is in halo wars 2 so you have nothing to worry about

The Rings and Ark didn't have all that crazy incineration tec with robot parts suspended midair or EXTREMELY short range teleportation, because they were built to last outside of the Domain which powers that stuff. Prometheans were not supposed to go there because they can't maintain operation long enough.

Daniel Jackson I don't think the Logic Plague works quite like that. That implies that Cortana is consciously assisting the Gravemind. Those infected with the logic plague don't even know they are helping the flood until their actions unintentionally give the flood an advantage.

I wouldn't say defenseless, after all regular Promethean weapons would be extremely effective against the flood due to them being able to fire at high rates and leaving nothing behind for the flood to reanimate. Though the galaxy would still be in trouble due to how few Prometheans there are when compared to the flood.
I am pretty sure that if one used a MAC round to hit the surface of a planet that is infested, it would have a similar effect to glassing. The kinetic energy would likely destroy large chunks of land, causing entire portions of the crust to crack apart, and this will likely kill anyone or anything on that area of the planet. Keep in mind that this is in regards to larger MACs that could be seen on ODPs or the Infinity, or more mid sized MACs, like the Spirit of Fire, or a valiant class. The MACs seen on frigates of Halberd class destroyers likely would have a similar effect to a nuclear weapon in yield.
I'd say a MAC round fired from an ODP would render an entire planet inhospitable.
A round that large getting flung at 4% the speed of light can and will induce one hell of a nuclear winter.

The best human weapon would be an ancient weapon. The weapon of fire and death, that burns and kills all.... The "napalm" would be a devastating weapon to the Flood, even used in the old methods. The UNSC could create a super napalm, that uses a combination the missiles, thermite, and fuel that could be launch from space. It flattens all large objects with the missiles, then melts objects the the thermite and finally burns everything with the fuel.

When I played against the flood on SPV3 it was spectacular in halo combat evolved the flood infection forms don't infect the host they are feeding off of, but in SPV3 they did such a great job at using what they have making a good infection animation. CMT and HiddenXperia should make halo 6
Thermite is pretty easy to make, as it's literally a mixture of rust and aluminum powder. The tricky part is lighting it, as it takes a lot of energy. Magnesium is the usual method.
Flamethrowers are a logical tactical choice, and would actually be better than plasma weapons. Plasma dissipates as it travels through air, whereas the jellied gasoline (usually done by mixing in benzene) ignites as it travels through the air, and sticks to the target as it burns (and sucking out all the oxygen from the air in enclosed spaces). The drawback of flamethrowers is the weight of the liquid fuel, as well as the reduced range. Conversely, plasma weapons require a lot of energy at the source in order to ensure that there's enough left burning when it hits the target, but can hit targets that are farther away.
So, in short, Hunters armed with flamethrowers would be the tactical choice for fighting the flood, while Covenant glassing cannons and UNSC nukes can deal with anything too big or dispersed.
The jury is still out on the effectiveness of tracer rounds, chemical weapons, and the various shotgun shot patterns.

Michael McCabe Shotguns pellets can do a lot of damage to flesh and because of the pellets round shape it transfers more energy to the target and can stun the flood forms
Is it just me, or is it kinda strange how the forerunners have missiles on their sentinel enforcers. Like, thats a very human weapon, and it's strang that such an advanced and ancient race would go with missiles instead of some other crazy weapon.

Bruh, if the flood invade earth we're literally screwed. Unless some heavy duty efforts were put into a colony ship to be used to escape, I'd estimate that the flood would probably take earth within a week. Depends on where the outbreak starts, and how many are around during the initial outbreak

I feel like there should be a Flood inspired firefight game mode in Halo 5. It would involve the reintroduction of flamethrowers (Regular, Oni, and Napalm) along with various other flame based weaponry. The idea behind the game mode? Containment and Extraction. These new spartans haven't faced the greatest danger to the universe, so it would be a simulation gamemode. Maybe when "spawning in" in the beginning of the round, we could see the world digitalize in. The map could be used by up to 16 players. Various mini bosses could include flood infected/controlled vehicles, abominations (Juggernauts), ancients forms, etc. Maybe even have brutes come back as a potential enemy for the firefights and warzone matches.

I can just see the reveal of the enforcer in halo 6: flood surrounding the master chief, coming in a small army, chief, knowing he can hold them off,readies his weapon, but then an enforcer comes in roaring its awesome metallic roar which fans can only guess means: "surprise mother fuckers I'm back!". I honestly think that the covenant has had more encounters with the flood than we know in the lore and I mean like before even halo wars because even before halo wars they seemed to know exactly what the flood were and it looks like they built their weapons exclusively to counter the flood.

I thought the novel stated that human weapons are more effective at dealing with flood. Because human weapons are better at destroying body parts while covenant plasma weapons rely heavily on pain after injuring the opponents.

Of course, nuclear weapons are only powerful if they detonate right on top of something they can conduct their energy to. Its like a match stick, it wont do much just sitting there. Add a LOT of fuel though...
Nukes are most effective when they airburst. 100-300 feet above the ground is typical. Anything within about 1/4 mile around ground zero would be incinerated, crushed, and irradiated to death. The blast wave beyond this would be damaging (how far depends on the size of the nuke, obviously), the thermal wave would probably not be as effective as radiation poisoning. Flood spores, especially, would be sucked in by the blast wave and irradiated beyond their ability to survive.
My favourite thing about the halo 3 flamethrower is how trying to walk forward while firing causes the fuel to splash back in ur face, thus denying the flood a new host. The meta against the flood is fire and suicide so

On the section about nuclear bombs against the Flood, the Mjolnir armor's later models are powered by a miniature nuclear reactor that were used at least once in a self-sacrificing way in the books. If I remember right, it was used to take out an entire carrier in one blow, by a spartan that was near death after a firefight.
Wasnt the standard covenant weapons known to be incredibly ineffective against the flood? I remember hearing in multiple places that their weapons were deemed the be terrible against flood so they made specific types just to counter them
if you read the first halo books, it is said one blast from super heated plasma your basically almost screwed. not to mention spartan 034 Sams armour was penetrated with one bolt of a plasma rifle which burned through all layers of gel and armour and scorched his skin. The games on the other hand portray covenant weaponry as sticks and stones on humans. halo ce actually made the covenant weapons effective against both humans and flood.

High charity fell because of the Great Schism. The Covenant’s greatest warriors, the Sangheili and Jiralhanae, were killing each other instead of fighting the flood. This, combined with littered dead bodies from the ongoing civil war on high charity, made it easy for the flood to grow in the background of the three-way firefight.
You forgot about some of the Promethean weapons like the incineration cannon which were used to destroy graveminds. Pretty much all the promethean weapons disintegrate to make sure there isn’t more potential flood infection vectors

Come to think of it, for the most dangerous life form in the galaxy, the security measures in the Flood containment facility in 343 Guilty Spark on 04 are pretty poor. Should've had high security doors that acts as checkpoints and automatically seals once you get far enough inside, a permanent shield barrier that activates over the entrance if an outbreak is detected, holopanels that can't be used by unauthorized beings and concealed turrets to deter them, chokepoints that have hidden defenses. Or a self destruct for the whole facility, vaporizing it all.
What about the Prometheans? They were created to be a fighting force completely immune to Flood infection.
The original prometheans would have been fucked because they were still technically forerunners until the didact used the composer on them basically making them into digital forms we now see today
The problem with Prometheans(composed ones) is that while they work, they're small in numbers. Didact planned to create a Grand Promethean army to combat the Flood but his piece of shit wife put a stop to his plans and instead put all funding and full focus towards the rings.
I honestly doubt there were even enough sentient life left to compose to face of against the millions of flood ships
I've also heard that one UNSC tactic for extreme outbreaks is to fire MAC rounds into the week points of a planets tectonic plates (like yellow stone) but that's only if the whole dam plant is infested

Havok's aren't that big. Fred used them on Reach. The shiva's that the unsc ships use are pretty damn effective. I think they can use havok's pretty well.
The nuke that was used on reach was a fury tactical nuke basically the unscs version of a nuclear grenade.
Humanity can also use older bomb-type weapons we already have like napalm or white phosphorous.
Wouldnt hunters be great for taking out the flood i mean they dont have a central nervous system since there just a large colony of worms wich means they cant be infected by an infection form they have to be killed and im sure there plasma cannons would make short work of any combat or pure forms please tell if im wrong on something here id like to learn

The Forerunners also destroyed entire star systems to slow down the Flood by forcing the star to prematurely go Supernova.
Just a thought that came to mind, why doesn't the UNSC give out gas masks to the average marines? Wouldn't them wearing a gas mask filter out the flood spores in the air and also make them more difficult to infect for infection forms?
Im no expert on how gas masks work but the flood spores that float around are so small they could easily break through the mask filtration and infect the host.
Military gas masks are designed to combat biological threats as well and if truly needed you could just provide oxygen tanks instead
If gas masks can protect against chemicals (molecule sized), they will surely be able to protect against flood spores (cell sized).
And combine that with robotic exoskeletons
Because unless you're a Spartan or some other spec-ops, you're very unlikely to ever run into the Flood. Mass issuing them wouldn't be much cost-effective, I guess.
As for Spartans: they already do have an HAZMAT version of the Mjolnir power armour

Surprised you didn't mention the Prometheans. Those things were (at least originally) built only to fight the Flood.
Thoughts after seeing/hearing your description of the Enforcer Sentinels: If they brought these back, the rapid fire energy weapons they use could be Forerunner Suppressors, and its missiles could be portions of the Incinerator's AOE blast effect.
You should do a video about Halo 2 quarantine Zone mission. I honestly think it's another underrated Mission because of the Betrayal in the mission itself and because you get to see a UNSC Attack Force fly over you and race you from a covenant perspectives

Take also into consideration, the radiation left over may kill the flood slowly by breaking down their DNA. As far as I know the flood don't have the ability to prevent this.
That super laser on the infinity would do alot I personally think
Distribute napalm/termite grenades, more flamethrowers and gas masks (also more armor) to troopers, also napalm shells for tanks and artillery, develop smaller tactical nukes, maybe with adjustable yield (like the modern B61, it's a variable-yield tactical thermonuclear nuke), maybe trade with friendly Covenant for some plasma weapons, and here you go, UNSC can counter Flood pretty well. Including basic counter-Flood tactical training in all UNSC personnel's training is necessary too.

I find that shotguns work quite well, because at close range it rips through the body a multiple points and the size of the shell is 8 gauge (.835 inch or 21.21 mm) whit 15 shot in each shell ( if you don't believe me check the halo wikia page)
It would be so cool to see pelicans dropping Napalm on flood infected areas, sorta like a futuristic Apocalypse Now

In HALO Legends - Origins these halos instantly destroyed the flood itself as well as sentient lifeforms with nerve system.
when discussing the human's potential anti-flood weapons you forgot the mac cannon, it's a orbital WMD that has a moderate area of effect and i'm pretty sure it's extremely hot, and has a lot of pressure and can destroy cities
It would be so cool if an elite with an energy sword and a flood combat form with a flood wip started dueling as if the wip was a sword

You are forgetting a obscure thing, the flood visor in halo 5 says that the spartans who use it are specifically sent to clear out forerunner structures potentially infected

Super late reply but no it doesn't. In an instant everything they controlled and/or could infect was decimated. Another cortana quote is "it doesn't kill flood it kills their food!" The flood wouldn't disappear instantly but. The hosts they use would decompose over time and rot away leaving dead worlds all over but after hundreds of thousands of years overall a safe galaxy. They then reseed life to world's that were known to be safe afterward so they didn't immediately get another outbreak. For example the flood on the ring in halo 2 had been fighting in the quarantine zone for 100000 years after the rings fired
Hey! I’m a new fan and I had a question! You’ll probably never see this but.. ya know that flood research facility that the heretic leader was hanging out at in Halo 2? The one that the arbiter cut loose and set in free fall before meeting the oracle? Yeah, where did that thing end up falling? And where was that station even based?
Thermite can only be used against metal/armor. It fuses metal together, napalm would be more effective against bio-mass and the UNSC would most likely have a ton of napalm
