Excellent job🎉🎉🎉🎉
I was enjoying it till the point when one of the gentleman said .. we are happy that we are not part of Tibet and then I got goose bumps when he said Ladhak must be part of Tibet once upon a time and then I tried to understand his elaborated words when he said - we are fortunate to be part of India where we have freedom. I am also so so proud to have born in India but I would have been more fortunate never to be born as refugee. Yes in that sense you are fortunate to be born in a free India, the largest democratic country. And India is undoubtedly the best and my Janam Bhumi ! Jai Bharat , Jai Tibbat !
I don’t how Ladhaki people feel about Tibetans but I have always seen Tibetans of Tibet in Ladhaki, in their innocent look, kind gesture and immense belief in His Holiness the Dalai Lama and of course the spirituality.
I am really impressed by the fact that u had that doubt or cloud of misunderstanding- progressing into the interview into its final stages- and then you tried to understand the larger context and the particular reference to 'democracy' and 'freedon of speech'. Otherwise, u too would have felt an undesired bitter taste bundled into unexplainable region specific hate or disagreement.
A. If we pay close attention, one of the member said that Ladakh & Tibet have shared history by that it meant both the region have undeniable strong socio-cultural and geographical ties.
Then he talks about how grateful we (Ladakhis) are to part of India and fortunate not to be part of Tibet'. Some might get offended hearing the statement if they don't go by the context nd the reference made by the speaker.
The simplest narration of this talk was that being a strategically and politically sensitive region on which the Chinese have their eyes on, Ladakhis are fortunate that they are not the part of Tibet that was invaded and illigally occupied by the P.R.C militaries sighting one reason or other like Cultural Revolution of the 1950's. He said that Ladakh is a part of Republic of India. Which has democracy unlike China as its essence. We have freedom of speech and fundamental rights that ensures the very spirit of a great democratic nation. This was it all about.
B. We as a Ladakhi understands that ofcourse you would be happy to hve been born in free country like India unlike your ancestors and we also can feel your pain being tagged as 'Refugees'. And like H.H the 14th Dalai Lama always mentions that he is a proud son of India, we undoubtedly say you all are too.
C. Ladakh and Tibets have shared goods and services from the period of Silk route trade, prior to that -Wars amongst principalities and kingdoms. And after 1950s, Ladakhis have seen exodus of Tibetan into the region too. Many monasteries of Ladakh have granted tract of lands for the refugees to help them settle their home. We hear stories of large scale movement of our fellow Tibetans and setting up of camps and communities. They talk about how much strong amd resilient your community is. Ladakh very well have witnessed some 3-4 generation Tibetans by now. They have been part and parcel of Ladakhi society. We participate inreligious ceremonies, community gatherings, we trade, do business, live and thrive happily together. And we held all the religious heads of all religious spheres, and 'The Kundun' in the highest honour possible.
We are one!😊
As a Ladakhi I never felt apart from Tibet, Tibet is the source of Ladakh. Without Tibet Ladakh barely has a historical and cultural compass. I've always been sad about the state and plight of Tibetan people. Ladakhis by race and by religion and culture are tied unconditionally to Tibet 🙏🙏🙏

'THE HU' who?
Wat u mean the men with a brown Hat? U said U r lucky that u r nt a part of Tibet?
what you mean by patte vatte .....we tribals are more advanced in thoughts and well develop minded than you guys "so called urban"...
Fortunate to be not part of Tibet. Didn't got what you mean by it.
Tibet & Ladakh are so much related culturally, spiritually & habitatly , like twin brothers of one mother.
Not expected such harsh comments from you guys
That's what I thought but I think they wanted to say Ladakh is more diverse
Because of the geographical and political situation right now, not because of anything else. Ladakh is and always be the small brother of Tibet
Don’t take it in a wrong way, I have Tibetan friends from all over the world. We share share Culture,Tradition, Religion,Race etc and most importantly our root guru H.H Dalai Lama.
Plz don’t be offended and if somehow anyone feels such, which at any cost I wouldn’t mean it, I apologise.
Dear sir or mam; being a Ladakhi myself, lets try clearing up the misunderstandings first;
1. Firstly, saying, that 'fortunate not being part of Tibet', has nothing to do with not feeling happy being associated with the once free, 'Kingdom of Tibet' which was annexed by the P.R.C military in the name of the Cultural Revolution. Any Ladakhi who knew Tibet knows the struggles of the Tibetan as well. Therefore, it would be an insult to say such things to the decades old friendship between the two communities residing in Ladakh. It was only a reference, to the torturous time period Tibetans saw under the undemocratic rule of Mao's party and its successors. The reference was, that unlike Tibet that was occupied by the Chinese. Being a strategically important region- Ladakhis are lucky that we are part of the Republic of India which is a free country which has the rule of Democracy and 'Freedom of speech and expression' as the fundamental rights bestowed upon us by the might of the Indian Constitution.
2. Secondly, U were right in mentioning that both the Himalayan regions have shared histories, cultural and social ties with one another. Even Ladakh is called 'Little Tibet' in historical records. Neither can deny this or is denying any association between each other in the past.
3. Thirdly, it was simply a misinterpretation of the gentleman' s conversation. Nobody was insulting or making harsh comments on anything.
Rather, My guess is that the band members of DaShugs might have felt so misunderstood and misrepresented in a manner never before. They cannot have ever imagined such a simple and straightforward statement would cause beef amongst some. They might be sorry that their statements are misjudged by some of you.
Do not get swayed by such statements. Try to see the actual meaning of the conversation and the context. Otherwise, we will get hurt and someone misunderstood and innocent will be blamed for it.
Hope it made some sense. 😊
Proud ❤
