Related to the Camera angles and player names part: When you were talking about how they had preset camera angles, I remember an episode where Brent was ranting about how there are two guys in a truck that just push a button no matter what after play stops. Lmao
I remember when the World Cup of Hockey a couple of years ago had the fake digital ads on the boards. From what I could remember, each ad lasted for the length of the play whistle to whistle. Could be 3 minutes..or 30 seconds. Once the play started, the ad was different. It didn't change during the play.
Thank you Neil for the EIHL mention and commenting on Sully's announcement. Also the mention of the 3 idea's for specialist jerseys that I mentioned on twitter. Kind of feels odd that such a comment led to a bit of the podcast. This year's Pride weekend for the EIHL was it's first, but it certainly won't be it's last I don't think the amount of positivity online makes me think this will be a regular event now for our league. I'd be happy to if the NHL clubs played in specialist jersey's through the season, and if it's a limited number of games only I'm happy with that.
About the save streak competition. I think it would be cool to have local fans come in and shoot the shots. Obviously they have to check so they have some decent hockey skills first. But just imagine coming in as a fan, you would definetly try your hardest to score!

Regarding the Gritty situation. They are not allowed to publish any video because it involves a minor (a kid). In the court of law if a child is actively involved in a criminal case (alleged or proved) there is AUTOMATICALLY a Publication ban to protect the child.
Hey Neil and Jason. I would like to state my opinion on the 3 referee idea. I personally wouldn’t Change it because I like the excitement and the intensity. For example a few years back I was at a QMJHL game it was the Olympics at the screaming eagles. The eagles were getting crushed 6-2. In the 3rd we came back to make the score 6-4 the ref give us to penalty’s in the matter of 30 seconds that clearly weren’t even close to penalty’s they had a 5 on 3 for a minute and a half and we killed it off. We ended up tying the game with less then 2 minutes to go. We ended up winning in ot. Anyways this is just my opinion. I know not everyone will agree and that’s ok.

Remember when the American broadcasts felt it was important to have "highlighted" pucks so the U.S. fans could follow the play? THAT was useless. You could even see the puck through the boards, like a PS glitch.
i cant remember where i read this but apparently the nhl is going to put name stamps on the players in the playoffs thats so distracting and stupid like the players have their names and numbers on their back and arms in big print for forever like whats the point of that other then pissing people off
As someone who grew up in stl. If the restaurant doesn't serve toasted raviolis, then it's doesn't represent st. Louis. I find it odd that Canadian chains have the same name as American cities... Like Boston pizza.... I don't think anyone in America thinks of Boston when you mention pizza to them..
the reason the states is bad for lawsuits is because they don't have free healthcare. When you have to pay out of pocket for basic doctors visit it makes sense to sue for medical purposes.
The NHL is so interested in using technology. How about instead of making technology for the viewer, you develop technology to make the game better? Including better angles for the refs and better technology in general to get the calls right? Wouldn't that be better than seeing where the puck is going via a neon pink line?
Neil it probably would taste a little bit better if u weren’t sick because I was sick last week and I didn’t want to eat to much cause almost everything tasted off and I live near Toronto and have eaten there and I loved the food
About Green Day Swearing thats the culture of Punk rock. I expect they wont be invited back but it is apart of punk rock. Plus most kids these days know swearing and how to swear because of their parents and not so much the media.
As a commited fan from England; I didn't enjoy the All Star weekend at all. The games played were to slow & the peripheral trick games were somewhat circus-like. Almost put myself off the sport completely
All of the technology detracted from to presentation for me. The puck/player tracking was obstructive and the digital ads on the boards were super distracting. I really hope the league isn’t going to push this.
I think the MLB all star game is a tremendous bore, and it has been for decades. In hockey there's a problem with playing hard -- you could get hurt. In baseball there's a similar problem, but it mainly exists for the pitchers. As a reward for being the all star pitcher, you get to mess up your pitching schedule and/or miss a start in your regular rotation. That's why, not too long ago, pitchers pitched a maximum of two innings, and then in 2005 that thing happened where one team ran out of pitchers and so the game was declared a tie after the 10th inning so that some team would not get screwed. Now, the game is thought to be more competitive; MLB tries to project the idea that it is competitive. But the game no longer determines home field advantage in the world series. Even if a lot of the players play hard because the league wants the game to be a prestigious event, it's still a joke to me. The home run derby, which is a fun affair, is the real all star game and has been for decades, just like the NHL skills competition, which is fun even if some of the competitions are a bit strange and weird and stupid, is the real event at the all star game (and the women's game at the skills comeptition this year was just terrific; absolutely the highlight of the weekend).
Personally I think that they deserve it because THEIR ARENA BURNED DOWN! I would say its under the claim of extreme circumstances and I live in Ontario and would love to attend an Hockeyville but i have no problem supporting a town when they need the money to rebuild the arena that obiviously plays such an important part in the town.

Also its not fair to the teams in the playoffs to lose home advantage if whoever won the all star game gets home even if they barely made the playoffs. Also what happens if the division that won the all star game DOESNT make the finals?

We heard that as well, which is why we were a bit disappointed with the one here.
