I don't kno' wat' it is about this song, but I get so emotional every single time I hear it! When I saw Apocalyptica play in Toronto in 2015, I bawled my head off when I heard Farewell 'live'..... I felt the passion, the love, the magic..... Paavo saw me with tears streaming down my face & gave me the set-list after the show! I will always be grateful to him & Apocalyptica for sharing the beauty of their music with us, the fans!
Aguante Apocalyptica!!
No matter how painful a farewell is, it always hurt. The darkness won’t last forever, but the farewell stays with you for just as long. The farewell marks the end of that particular journey, and no matter the cost or the guilt - its one thatll stay fotever If the song could speak my pain, this would be that song.
I found this song shortly after my uncle passed away at the age of 45. I cried many times listening to this song. It kind of helped me to overcome my grief. Now when I listen to this masterpiece I'm fascinated how beautiful this composion is. May be my uncle would have liked this. He was a Metallica fan and Apocalyptica make Metallica covers.
Don't listened to it for a long time, and now.. unimaginable and weird how beautiful this is. I touches the deepest of my soul in some ways.. i'm so lucky to listening to this again after sow much year's. Thats what music can do to the deepest of your soul.
I can relate. The first time I heard it was at the show last Sunday night,9/25/22. Was not only beautiful, but by the end of the song, tears were flowing and rolling down my face. Nothing like the power of music. I'm glad I captured that song with the others I did to upload here.
First time I heard this song, on Pandora. A friend had recently died suddenly. Hearing this song, not even knowing the title, I pulled the car over and started bawling. Cathartic
this is nostalgic, indeed! but this is clearly not a proof of the actual various and avant-garde music scene nowadays! ( and im not talking about the commercial scene)
Maybe one day I'll found the right words to express the feelings that I have when I hear this song... But, not now... I just love it... Kiitos, Apocalyptica
This song started playing on my phone randomly. My dog of 12 years passed away earlier this week and this just felt like a sign to say Farewell. So now I'm listening to this beautiful masterpiece balling my eyes out.
“Farewell has a sweet sound of reluctance. Good-bye is short and final, a word with teeth sharp to bite through the string that ties past to the future.”-John Steinbeck
I didn't find this song. It found me. A while after I had lost my beloved uncle. He was a huge Metallica fan. I come back to this song once in a while. It brings tears to my eyes every time. A true masterpiece!
Pure talent, beauty and perfection. This song touchs our souls, this is a kind of art that last forever. Too bad here in Brazil we dont have that kind of band or artists, few people here can even enjoy and understand its beauty. Our brazilian music and artist are dead, we only have shit like funk.
Guys... You're so incredible! I have shivers in my spine during the listening this (as always!) You took my heart and soul many years ago (it was in 2000 by your Cult album) and I'm still totally in love in your music. You are best band ever, amazing musicians, beautiful people :) Poland loves you!
This is one of the most beautiful compositions. This is the case when the cello cries, and this crying goes to the very heart. Thanks to the guys for their professionalism and beauty!
I have been looping Farewell for two days now. Loving it. Not only a wonderful composition, their performance shows four great talents. The cellists of course, and Mikko's drumming is exquisite, all four great musicians.
I started playing cello as a hobbyist thanks to Apocalyptica, around a year and a half ago. So I tried to play this song around a couple of months ago, despite it's very slow, you make use of practically the entire range of this instrument. I am having problems with the highest notes due to the quality of the strings, I would try better strings soon :)
Only discovered this song a little while ago. Have listened to it so many times, and can never listen to it just once at a time. Wish I could 'like' it every time I listen to it 🙂 I can imagine that it holds so many different feelings for whoever listens to it and appreciates it. I love it.
Thank you guys for the Yesterday's concert ❤️ i was infinitely happy when you started to play this song like 10 seconds after i told my brother you could play Farewell 😍 the best concert of my life. Thank you!
i saw in a comment a kid committed suicide and his parents played this song at his funeral ,i can't begin to imagine their feelings at the end of the song when it keeps building up in melancholy, that's heart wrenching
This song is so incredible! I always imagine a troop of guard trying to protect the princess from a giant army of undead They manage to barricade themselves in a church From 03:18 the leader gives a strong speech about them being the last ones and that they will give their lives to protect the princess. At 03:57 the undead break through the door and overwhelm the defenders who die one by one And finally at 04:35 the princess decides to sacrifice herself in order to protect the men buy activating her powers. She floats in the air and bursts into a giant light wave which kills all enemies. In the end she fades away in the light
That story matches music so well! You made me see all the notes creating a detailed scenes of what you described. It was immersive. like "pulled from the chair into a different reality" immersive. Thank you.
Man I love these guys songs. They are really deep. But most of all the guitar rifts and the classicalness it different and it stands out. Every song sounds strong and aggressive a little dark but ambitious and forthcoming. But either way something legendary is building up.
lol. I geniunely had a hearty laugh reading this. As I pictured the spongebob scene with squidward holding a bowl of onions underneath a customer in the episode with spongebobs sea horse, as they two parted ways. Only in this case the onions would hold a bowl of onions underneath their arch nemesis the red onions lol.
Dear Sirs, Are you can give me right for using your music for my film about russian spy - name "Farewell" - who help to West protect from Soviet global spy company in 1970-80. Thank you for your music. I like your music.
Anyone here in 2023 for this absolute masterpiece? Still touches my soul as much as the first time I heard it.
found this song last year.. I'm in love with this band. ❤
since it was here
My favorite ❤❤❤ so heart touchable 😢

I bet ancient composers like beethoven, mozart, bach etc would really have digged this.
What a genius once in a lifetime masterpiece composition
Who do you think started it all? 😘love your namesake btw. 🌹

That song makes my soul cry more than any lyrics song ever did..
I can't tell you how much you hit the words
Love this song, and many more

Music can touch your soul, like nothing else and this song surely does!!
They should play more songs like that.
Since that makes them Apocalyptica

I have to admit that this is one of my most favorite songs ever. Being totally serious. Such huge inspiration to gain from it.
My favourite song ever!! What a sublime and perfect composition!!
