Jesus particularly 'saw' the crippled man at the pool and then also 'found' him in the temple. Divine Providence due to that man's spiritual suffering and not just physical.
Numbers 15 v 32.... A man was stoned to death because he picked up sticks on a sabbath! Jesus commands the lame man for 38 years (Israel time in the wilderness) Pick up your bed (A place of Rest) ✝️ Jesus is our Sabbath Eternal Rest 🕊 (Deuteronomy 2 v 14).
Great message, Jarod. Your take on Johnn 5 (or 3, as it might have been :) ) I had not looked at this story in this way in regard to "lest something worse happens". I also thought it interesting that while there is a mass of people looking to be healed, the one man is the only one Jesus heals. Why one? Why this one? Certainly, Jesus had his reasons. Any speculation? Thanks again for this ministry your and Daron are providing every day. It's a great way for me to go through the NT again, with more experienced eyes. I don't know that I could have had the fortitude to commit to it every day, if I didn't have an outlet like this.
You dont need Jesus physically to heal but to have faith in him. Jesus act are just meant to show the love of god the power of the holy spirit working threw him, from our eyes but we need to see him with our spirit, heart, faith and not to seek him in earthly things. So there is no point for him to heal directly everyone because it's our job to see him and accept his healing. It's my speculation ^^
Thank you for this short overview of John 5. My question is does doing good justify sin? Or was walking on the Sabbath not really a sin? Today it seems as if in the name of love that many over look sin. What do you think?
The Jews of Jesus’s time followed rules. But Jesus came to save the world in John 1, Jesus is the light of the world with God and the word since the beginning. All things made through him and he is the Light of men. Jesus is an equal with God. If you believe in the trinity, The Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, 3 in 1, all are God, than you know that anything Jesus does must be righteous, and free of sin. He told a man to stand after he was lame for 38 years! It didn’t matter to God that Jesus did this on the Sabbath, it only aggravated the religious leaders of the Jewish community who had no relationship with God, and hatred in their hearts. Hatred to persecute the son of God for making a man walk after 38 years all because of the day of the week
If Jesus told you to do it would you still consider it a sin? -I’d think if anyone was going to give you a pardon I’d be him. 😅 just speculation of course but your question would be a great debate question!
