RED TIDE SUCKS 2.5

  • What is happening right now in Tampa Bay is absolutely devastating! The water in the majority of the bay is poison, so toxic in fact that it is killing dolphins, manatees, all fish, and is even making it impossible for humans to breath the surrounding air! You have to see it to believe it.
While the nay sayers and lobbyists of the polluting corporations will say “red tide is natural and has been occurring for hundreds of years”, make no mistake HUMANS ARE SUPERCHARGING RED TIDE with extra nutrients we are putting into the water. When a mild and localized red tide bloom comes into contact with our wastewater it has more nutrients to feed on. This can quickly turn a small non-lethal event into a massive, widespread, and catastrophic one just like the one we are experiencing now killing everything for miles and miles!
The epicenter of this year’s red tide disaster not so coincidentally began right around the abandoned PINEY POINT phosphate processing plant where just a few weeks earlier over 200 million gallons of super-concentrated nutrient rich waste water from the plant’s retention pond was dumped directly into the bay to avert a total collapse of the retention wall. When a mild, non-lethal red tide bloom approached from the south and contacted the water from Piney Point, it was like a bomb went off. Local and state politicians, the FWC, the DEP all the way up to the governor are trying to spin this as just a natural occurrence and it is total BULLSHIT!! 🤬🤪😱!! WE MUST HOLD THOSE RESPONSIBLE ACCOUNTABLE!!! However, that is far from the only major things contributing to the problem in Tampa Bay.
    1. Fertilizer, yard trimmings, and other runoff from homes ( YES YOUR HOME, even well inland), golf courses, etc… flow into storm drains and directly into the bay!
    2. The local sewerage infrastructure cannot keep up with all of the new people moving to Tampa bay causing periodic massive sewerage dumps/spills into the bay.
    3. Extremely poor farming practices and water management especially around Lake Okeechobee/the Everglades (especially “Big Suger”)! Blooms from this discharge eventually flow through the Tampa Bay Area.
The Tampa Bay Area is at a breaking point at the brink of collapse!!! 🚨 Our waterways cannot handle the relentless onslaught of what we humans are subjecting them to. Humans created this problem and we are the only ones who can fix it! YOU must be part of the solution otherwise you’re part of the problem.
We need everyone including YOU to step up to the plate and spread the word that this isn’t “just a natural occurrence otherwise we really could loose it all forever!!! 😱
