Sorry for the untimely upload this week. Our terrible Aussie internet was down at our house for the last 6 days. We just had it fixed today. I hope to go back to my usual posting schedule this weekend. Thank you for all of your support. I really appreciate it.
Excellent tutorial, I always learn great techniques from you. It must be nice to have such great weather that you can be out at night in a short sleeve shirt and a model wearing summer outfits! I'm in "sunny" California, it's 33F 🥶 at night outside! Thanks for sharing. 👍
Warren, you never sease to amaze. Your light painting photos are second to none. I love the work you do and can't thank you enough for sharing your techniques. I have watched all you light painting videos, some multiple times. The inspiration you provide is greatly appreciated. Again, Thank you.
These are beautiful results and very well done. I loved the behind the scenes look at how you created them too. I’m inspired to give this a go with my next high school senior session. Thank you!
Thank you for this great opportunity to see a master on set. Thank you for the information, inspiration and ideas all wrapped up neatly and presented skilfully.
Every time I drive past this house my wife says it's her favourite house and she'd love to own it - i like the one best in the red dress leaning against the post outside the fence
Wow! Exciting technique, i never knew we could do that. 35 mins of this video is well worth it. One question though, how do you manage to get the focus in this absolute darkness?
Thanks for your comment. Manual focus is generally required for shooting in the dark. I use "back button focus" which is awesome. It allows me to focus with a single focus point on my subject and it stays fixed until I press the back button again. Investigate it for your camera. I use it for everything. It takes a little getting used to but I love it.
Another great video Warren. What are you using as white balance setting? And is the torch LED? Does your torch have how many Lumens it is on it by any chance, or can you recall it?
Hi Scott. The torch is slightly on the blue side of daylight (about 5800K) which is close to my usual flash temperature. I tend not to be too precise with my White Balance because I shoot RAW and can tweak it in post production. I think the torch is 1500 lumens.
Fascinating stuff! Great images. Can I ask a few practical questions? What is the color temperature of your torch and camera? How many Lumen is that torch?
The torch is slightly on the blue side of daylight 9 (about 5800K) which is close to my usual flash temperature. I tend not to be too precise with my White Balance because I shoot RAW and can tweak it in post production. I think the torch is 1500 lumens.
I haven't used light painting ever since I ditched my Olympus OMD. The OMD series is really good as it has LIVE COMPOSITE mode which allows you to see the light painting as it slowly progresses. Sad this feature isn't available on the Leica :(
@newcastlephotographycollege it's amazing that you made this video 🙏🏿🙏🏿 i just asked Gavin Hoey from Adorama since he uses Olympics or OM systems does he do light painting, he said no

Also you use the flashlight to get your subject focus before the shot. You’ll see in the video the word “focusing “
more videos please, greetings from Chile
Many more to come Carlos.

Yes. That is a great feature. I wish it was available on more cameras.
