I've heard so many people make fun of the corner tool that I have always resisted using it. That is until the last couple of projects. Now I wish I had started using it sooner. I also started using one of those Joint Compound/Drywall Mud corner roller applicator thingy ma-bobs. Boy the combination works so nice together. Nice video. Thank you.

I need some corners repaired and this video is just what I was looking for. I am going to try it!!! You made it look so easy, it really is a talent to be able to do such good work! Thanks for the video!!
Amazing video. A quick question please. It's recommended to use something like a durabond for the prefill before applying the joint compound when there are substantial gaps gaps, right?
Hi great clear and nicely presented video, may I ask what tape that is you are using on the corners I presume it's good for strength as I'm repair cracks in the corner of walls that go the complete lengths top to bottom. I normally use mesh scrim tape but I'm not sure what to use on the corners between to walls.
Super helpful!! Do you have a video for how to do outside corners, like those around windows? Today is the day I'm using your roller technique to do all my kitchen walls covered in a weird plaster texture! I think I'm ready. Thanks for the tutorials!
Awesome! Here’s that video: How to install and finish vinyl corner bead th-cam.com/video/Kl6uPml3zG0/w-d-xo.html Good luck with your skim coating today!👍🏻😎 -Paul
Great video. Question I want to skim coat a wall and do a knock down for the texture. Do I use the sponge for the whole wall or is there a better way. Love your videos. Or direct me to one of your videos. Thanks Tom
Hi Paul, I am a subscriber and want to do skip trowel in my two garage which is tough to work around door rails. Anyway I am having trouble finding 20-30 coarse grade sand for under $200 for 50 lb bag when I only need a cup. Would AquaQuartz-50 Pool Filter 20-Grade Silica Sand 50 Pounds, WhiteAquaQuartz-50 Pool Filter 20- Grade Silica Sand work? $20 for 50 Lb. That’s 0.0270 inches average stone size. Thank you I hope you answer me.
Thanks for the video. Question. How would you fix inside corners that got too much buildup and the edges were not feathered. The edge is now primed and painted. Thanks
Well I agree for the most part but I'd also be looking to prepare the surface with bondcrete. It's a substrate bonding agent that works particularly well on painted surfaces. Paint and plaster fucking hate each other , especially if it's an older surface. I'd also suggest using a rigid sander or specialty scraping tool for the waves ( areas where the plaster has overlapped) . Prior to preparation. It'll need to be set with a blade at least a half inch wider than the existing garbage. I hope this is helpful. Please respond if not as I'm happy to attempt to help from this forum
The house I bought used mesh and the corner is cracking. Would it be easier for a first timer to use a vinyl bead on the inside corner instead of paper?
@@RidetheGeoffeningNot sure if you’re still active on here, but I have the exact same question. Can I throw paper over the cracked corner and feather it out? Would that be sufficient?
@ hey man . Yes , thankfully I’m still alive. You’ll need to be more explicit. Do you mean cracked internal angles ? I’m happy to back and forth to get you right mate.
12" knife to apply mud 😮 . So simple but have NEVER seen anyone do that in an explainer video. Oh the hours i could have saved. As for the corner tool...never got them to work for me.
Shit I thought I had to cover the tape entirely with spackle so that you couldn't see the yellow tape anymore I've been wasting so much time. But this video was really helpful to see how much mud to put on before applying the tape and then squeezing it out my corners look a lot better now.
For those of you saying he’s making it look easy, you guys always do the same two things wrong. Joint compound viscosity and trowel angularity. Your compound is always too thick and you don’t realize how to angle your trowel.
Good way to have tape failure in the future. Guess if your just giving the customer what I like to call a tailgate warranty. You know the kind that is over when the tailgate closes
I’m no expert but I’ve been a union commercial/industrial electrician for over ten years and I’ve never seen a finisher wet the tape. They do always add a lot of water to their mud though.
You can actually tape & mud it all in the same day for the most part. And, come back the next day to do a little bit of skim coating here & there maybe if you used the right tools instead of just a 6" & 12" knife. All you need is a banjo & an inside corner trowel & say abracadabra & like magic it'd be done! Of course if you're just doing a little weekend warrior work on your spare time & the extra steps & days to finish the job isn't so much a concern to you. Then by all means go ahead & play with the drywall knives, it's all good. But, if you plan on doing this as a side gig to make some extra dough, then pick up the right tools, ya dig? "Git-R-Done!" Just saying... +Peace, Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls My Friends+

No, it needs at least one more coat.👍🏻

Lightly sand, then do a really tight skim coat on the edges. It should dry pretty quickly, probably in a couple of hours it will be sander ready!

Why do you prefer paper tape over mesh tape?
Because the paper tape yields a more defined and crisp corner visually.✅👍🏻
Are you suppose to do two coats of this? Followed this . Sanded and then painted and the tape is still showing after I painted:(
This is taping the corner. You still have to do another coat over the tape and feather the edge.
