I'm a Health Pro & so grateful for this video. I had a ca ox stone (4.4mm) > 2 years ago that I was able to pass. I see NOW that I have STILL eaten too many oxylate-rich foods. I'm transitioning to eating CARNIVORE as a lifestyle & have finally lost very stubborn weight. I no longer even want vegetables, thank God. I've recently noticed some sharp, right lower quad pain (characteristic of a kidney stone) returning. I'm drinking lemon water, & water with drops of Chanca Piedra in it (to help dissolve & pass kidney stones) & I carefully monitor/avoid oxylates & add some calcium containing food to bind up what oxylste I might be getting. I eat mostly beef, butter, eggs, & bacon. I suspect I'm probly having some oxylate dumping. Again, THIS VIDEO is SO TIMELY & HELPFUL I pray I can get my husband to engage with, & get used to CARNIVORE LIFESTYLE.

We fast consistently & regularly for 16-18 hours a day, which I think ha made the biggest difference in our heallth. We've both lost 20 lbs & have kept it off. My husband's labs & repeat (after 5 years) CAC exam results were all excellent. We have good energy & stay well.

I have taken almond milk for many years, beets juice, spinach, sweet potato and green tea . My dermatologist treated my problem as allergy and my symptoms are worse. Since I watch your and Sally's presentation about the oxalate dumping, I voided all the oxalate food and my symptoms are getting much better.

@Wei Gu actually cutting yourself off from oxalates can create your body to go into an oxalate dump. Hi. I've been studied at the Mayo clinic. I only have one good working kidney, the other one is transverse malrotated malformed. It barely functions. I throw a lot of my minerals that I need away. Not only that I have SNP gene mutations known as MTHFR... as well as a connective tissue disorder EDS hypermobile and vascular.
I actually lack a specific bacteria that helps us break down the oxalates. What he's talking about also there is a link within the RCC x Gene, hypermobility and calcium oxalates. I was part of a two and a half year study at Mayo clinic. When they cut all of my oxalates out. It was hell on wheels for me. I couldn't hold back the tears falling from my face from the pain that I was in. My levels were astronomical. When doing so it triggered my body to do a huge oxalate dump. In this time it was thought go get a massage you'll feel better. It looked like someone had beaten me up. While massaging me, not knowing the oxalate shards that were in my muscle fascia were tearing cutting and bruising me. My doctor finally put two and two together and was like oh my God it's a dump. What you're doing is hurting yourself. Okay let's reassess. I eat micron amounts of oxalate only to keep myself from doing a huge oxalate dump. I had 27 years, Ingesting oxalates. This is not a process that is going to fix itself in a few months or even a few years. My doctor told me, this is going to take some time. I would love to be tested to see if I have that genetic syndrome where my liver makes oxalates. I only allow myself 3 g of oxalate. A week. For the very fact that if I don't keep this within my system. I'm not joking. It will be like I am peeing tea. The amount of blood in my urine is an astronomical sight.
The pain that I will have burning within my muscles. Just unbelievable. Right now I am going to be tested for myasthenia gravis. Sadly, I've had this since an injection I was forced to get when I was 19 to keep my job. A flu shot. Gave me Guillain-Barre syndrome. I haven't been the same since. 10 days on a ventilator 16 days total three and a half weeks of physical therapy to learn how to walk again. It took me one year and 3 months to get back to my job. Professional dancer. I could only work every other day or every other day. It took me another year to be able to work doubles again.
Ever since then I have been up and down with my health. The carnivore keto diet, clean keto lack of oxalate. Has been a godsend. Yet I fall short every single winner. The lack of sunlight. The coldness on my body. And apparently this is a skeletal muscular disease. It's finally hit my eyes and bladder. And this is considered late stage of the disease. I have been telling my doctors over and over there's a problem with my eyes there's a problem with my eyes. I'm seeing double. They blame it on the oxalates. I'm like no this is different. I get exhausted I feel like my body is beat up I can't lift my arms above my head it feels like I'm wearing a weighted suit on my body and I'm walking through water. Like it's hard to walk. Finally, my eye doctor says oh my goodness has anyone tested you for myasthenia gravis? A doctor gave me the medication to see, if I would get better or not. Instantly I did so I've gotten the okay to go ahead and get the blood test. Sadly my appointment isn't until June. My god. What a wait.
If this is the case. The carnivore diet is the most essential diet to heal this. I know this to be fact because I go in and out of remission. I fall short in the winter the cold is too hard on my muscles and my body. I get weak and I sleep a lot. We've got to move back down south.
Because the winter weather every single winter I fall hard. I'm done with this cycle. But back to your oxalates.
Be very careful when removing all oxalates. I'm not joking. Please look up the information about oxalate dumping from removing all oxalates. I would hate for you to actually have a severe issue with them and go through what I went through. Although you may not. But for your future or anyone else that you know. This is a good piece of information to have. No information is bad information. Good luck godspeed.

    TLDR
    • Oxalates are plant compounds used by plants to defend against predators.
    • Oxalates can exist in various forms, including sharp crystals that can cause mechanical damage.
    • They can bind with minerals in the body, forming oxalate salts.
    • Oxalates are found in many popular plant-based foods like spinach, cacao, beetroot, and almonds.
    • Unlike other plant compounds, oxalates cannot be broken down by the body and can accumulate over time.
    • Oxalates can cause irritation and damage to mucous membranes and soft tissues in the gastrointestinal tract.
    • The conversation highlights the importance of being aware of oxalate content in the diet and its potential impact on health. Some people react strongly to eating high-oxalate foods like kiwi.
    • Oxalate in kiwi and other foods can cause a burning or stinging sensation.
    • Oxalate is a highly abrasive chemical that can damage tissues.
    • Oxalate doesn't decompose like other molecules when consumed.
    • Oxalate has been known as a metabolic toxin for centuries.
    • Overconsumption of high-oxalate foods can be fatal.
    • Foods like spinach, berries, sweet potatoes, nuts, and chocolate are high in oxalate.
    • Oxalate content varies in foods, affected by soil and measurement techniques.
    • Misunderstanding leads to overconsumption of high-oxalate foods for perceived health benefits.
    • Oxalate lacks metabolic benefits unlike other phytonutrients.
    • Oxalate is a toxin that needs to be eliminated from the body.
Oxalate and its effects on the body:
    • When ingested, oxalate from foods like spinach is broken down and absorbed through the mouth, esophagus, and stomach.
    • Factors like gut health and calcium presence influence oxalate absorption in the intestine.
    • Gut bacteria like oxalobacter can help degrade oxalate, but modern factors like antibiotics impact gut health.
    • Oxalate binds to calcium, forming insoluble compounds that are excreted through feces.
    • Soluble and free oxalate is absorbed into the bloodstream, processed in the liver, and then excreted via the kidneys.
    • Factors influencing oxalate absorption:
    • High oxalate diet, leaky gut, digestive issues, antibiotics, surgeries, medications impact oxalate absorption.
    • Oxalobacter bacteria degrade oxalate; antibiotics can decrease their presence, leading to increased oxalate absorption.
    • Excessive oxalate intake can inhibit oxalobacter, leading to higher absorption.
    • Oxalate can deposit in various tissues, causing mechanical and biochemical damage.
    • Oxalate's harmful effects:
    • Oxalate crystals can accumulate in different tissues, causing issues like kidney stones and joint pain.
    • Kidneys filter oxalate but can be overwhelmed, leading to crystal formation.
    • Oxalate crystals can deposit in organs, joints, muscles, connective tissue, causing pain and dysfunction.
    • Oxalate disrupts mitochondria, inhibiting energy production and causing oxidative stress.
    • Oxalate can replace biotin on enzymes, leading to dysfunction and affecting systemic energy metabolism.
    • Modern health concerns:
    • Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in various chronic illnesses, often linked to the rise of oxalate-related issues. Oxalate is related to a bioenergetic deficit where cells can't produce enough energy.
    • Oxalate is a key suspect due to our modern toxic environment and increased consumption.
    • Oxalate-containing foods like rhubarb are available year-round, unlike historical eating patterns.
    • 24/7 access to high oxalate foods overwhelms the body's capacity to handle it.
    • Oxalate accumulation might lead to a range of conditions beyond kidney stones.
    • Oxalate could contribute to vulvodynia, arthropathy, breast cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcers, autism, etc.
    • Oxalate can trigger inflammation, including in the brain, and activate the inflammasome.
    • Lack of funding leads to limited research, and symptoms can be misattributed to other causes.
    • While oxalates might not be the sole cause, they could contribute to various health issues.
    • People noticed miraculous changes when they removed oxalates from their diet.
    • Excretion of oxalates occurs after dietary changes.
    • Common but poorly researched phenomenon.
    • Lack of comprehensive research due to focus on kidneys and genetics.
    • The low oxalate community has grown over two decades.
    • Anecdotal evidence can serve as valuable data when scientific proof is lacking.
    • Similar symptoms observed in people without genetic conditions.
    • High oxalate diet's potential negative impact compared to detox in vegan diets.

That's not even logical. Tell that to any wild animal. They eat to their satiety and the availability of food. Grossly obese people were probably injured by Pertussis toxin in vaccines that destroyed their pancreas cells. The drive to eat might be because at the cellular level they are literally starving. Outside of the other nutter diets out there, well beyond Keto which is a form of starvation diet, there are real starvation diets. None of this is natural. None of this can be witnessed in nature. The only time that an animal stops eating is when it is sick. Whoops! made my own point....

This info is so valuable. Years ago I was on a meat and veggies diet plus some whole grains It was great to lose weight but noticed how my sinus infection did not ameliorate, improved but remained there. As result of the brainwashing I decided to dump the meat, how could veggies be the coolprit? What a bad decision...one year as vegan has done so many damages I had to avoid any plant material for another year to stop the gut issues. I eat some veggies now, only local and in season and a few times a week. Listening to my gut, the alt signals are so loud and clear 😅. My heel is the only to still suffer from an accumulation of calcium, a spike under it that creates permanent inflamation. Suppose it is oxalates dumping from these many yeasr of high plant consumption. No more hill running for me. If you do have an oxalate buildup you most likely have a tendency to kidney stones, but it's actually pretty easily solved by adding a bit of potassium bicarbonate to your diet like a few grams depending on symptoms. Potassium salts are generally very soluble which is why they wash out of "cleaned" food, but it works to your advantage regarding oxalates since it makes oxalates far more soluble in urine which makes it easier for your body to get rid of it (both the stones and the body load) but if you are low on potassium (cell concentration, not blood) it might take a while as your body has a tendency to fill up first and the average man has about 400g of potassium stored in cells and bone. Be aware it's an antacid though and as such too much can impair nutrient absorption from lowering stomach acid.

My shoulder pain is almost all the way gone it's wonderful! I am absolutely sure I was consuming way too many oxalates four years! 'Large food companies' are just selling products, they aren't involved in the chemistry of those foods, or misinforming you to buy them, that's on you. Chocolate is very healthful is you dont have any issue with oxalates or histamine.

Low and high lists are confusing and can be contradictory. Just avoid the known very high foods that most agree on avoiding: almond, spinach, chocolate, raspberries, turmeric, chard, etc. Other veggies, fruits and spices just limit, but enjoy in small amounts. An average dinner for me - nice piece of grass fed beef with a small romaine or iceberg side salad and a 1/2 cup max portion of a low to medium ox veg like cauliflower. 80% pasture meat or wild sea food and 20% low ox / low lectin plant portion.

This was a very well done, profound interview. I found this after listening to Sally K Norton on Dr. Mercola. In the last few days I have been perusing comments in videos about oxalates. I don’t think people should be demonizing all plants. It’s kind of like people are saying, ‘Nah, Nah, nah nah nah’ to the Plant based community I live a ketogenic life style. I am not a “keto”- I am a person. It is devastating to me that I have to re-examine almonds, almond milk, almond flour, and my very beloved almond butter spread liberally in a piece of 85% dark chocolate. I would rather dismiss this information, but as someone who has had 3 bouts of kidney stones and various kidney infections over the years, I had to pay attention.
But I also have tendonitis and arthritis and a few other problems. Oxalates seem to attack areas of injury so are the oxalates preventing full recovery of tendons, joints and the like?
My friends who eat plant base (they are not vegan, they are people) do NOT want to hear about oxalates in legumes (beans), spinach, beets, and sweet potatoes.
Let’s try to look at this as an issue for all of us. Not carnivore vs vegan or keto vs high starch - I’m so tired of people identifying themselves according to what they eat. It’s almost dogmatic and religious in a way. Food should bring us joy, not divide us. Tired of US vs. THEM- we all need to know about oxalates. And for those who think they’re fine because they don’t have kidney issues... what if that ache or pain or shoulder that gives you chronic pain is caused by or exacerbated by oxalates? We’re all trying to get healthy- let’s have an open mind. Remember when gluten sensitivity was a conspiracy theory?❤️

I have always warned my friends about rhubarb, due to the oxalate levels (the "tart" flavor is mostly from the oxalates). The biggest issue with oxalate is that the pH change of the fluid in your kidney changes the solubilty of the oxalate ions. Calcium oxalate has a very poor solubility and forms fine needle shaped crystals. These crystals will literaly puncture the cells that make up your kidney tissue, eventually killing your kidneys.

12 years ago, I was taking a lot of calcium and eating bags of almonds, as well as drinking shakes with almond milk. I had formations growing in my right knee and then breaking off in the joint. I had to have them surgically removed. Some were the size of marbles. My body was dumping oxalates, perhaps?
When I eat a lot of almonds, and to a lesser degree other nuts, I have what seems to be extreme incontinence, but I’ve always maintained that it is something else. I have NO incontinence when I don’t eat nuts. This watery discharge has an unusual odor (sorry for TMI). I’ve always thought that this was due to an arginine/lysine imbalance, and taking lysine does seem to help. Now I wonder if my kidneys/urinary tract is dumping oxalates.

@@vaccinefraud5570 ive been forced to eat carnivore, not because I believe its the best diet, but because its the only way I can eat and not have severe reactions that stop me from living my life, being able to work, etc. One of those reactions is gout, which has gone completely into remission after removing plant foods, and only eating meat. You can look up Dr Paul Saladino's video on gout, he explains the biochemistry quite clearly. I've tested his hypothesis, and yes, after years without a flare up, reintroducing fructose, alcohol and/or high oxalate foods, on seperate occasions, have triggered flareups. Not saying others wont get gout from carnivore, and I dont recommend others to eat this way or anything, but there's plenty of evidence its not dangerous. Of course, if you dont have a solid understanding of biochemistry, it can be hard to figure out what's cherry picked or not, so I don't blame anyone for not believing in what I'm saying, but those who've seen the improvements in my health have been forced to change their minds, many of which have improved their own health in turn.

@@1andOnlyTotality No one is in a position to refute the benefits that you report. New sentence: we are obligated to establish what fact vs. feeling is. Were you clinically tested for high or low urates and high or low oxalates? In the absence of that, there there is only a report of claim of improvement with no foundation to indicate what has been improved. I'm not being an ass, this is just how it works. I am going to look at Saladino's work, but I will preface this with my view that I have never seen anything useful or true come from anyone who wags the Doctor title.
Fructose intolerance = damaged Krebs cycle, maybe damaged liver, or amoeba overgrowth in guts.
Alcohol intolerance = Stryer's biochemistry added alcohol as the 4th food group, so that processing pathway has been damaged. This is to say that avoiding it will reduce or prevent symptoms but none of these numbskulls are talking about FIXING THE UNDERLYING DEFECT.
Oxalates were only a problem in the past for idiots that ate poorly and never managed their pH well. Today it is an epidemic yet no one bothers to ask WHY? well... except for a few who are connecting it to glyphosate poisoning of the entire planet.
What I would like to emphasize so that you and others realize the dire situation that we are all in comes from your choice of language: FORCED TO.
What should be happening is that we eat just about any damned thing we want to and be able to process it with limited grief, but now people are all over the world using the same language that they are FORCED to eat a certain way or they cannot basically survive. While the gurus are out there arguing the methods of palliation no one is addressing the causative agents, let alone how to repair broken genes. Cheers.

But I also knew that if I wanted almond flour I needed to make it myself to get a good enough quality of product that could be nutritious for me. I wonder if many people were missing out on understanding that part. For me that naturally limited my interest in those foods. And I think that if a person was doing it that way, they may eat more than I did of course, but they would still be limited quite a bit compared to the amounts we can consume with foods we just buy in a package in the store.
Do you know if soaking the almonds properly and then processing them yourself as anyone could have done at any point in history, would it improve the oxalate issue at all, or only other anti-nutrients?

I’m interested in the type of spinach? Ie Swiss chard as opposed to baby spinach. I’ve always thought this was nonsense but had an interesting experience the other day after consuming poached eggs, bacon and a large helping of spinach, none the less I was excruciatingly fatigued and went home and slept for a couple of hours. I then heard oxylate mentioned and found you - so interesting!

I would not have perked my ears to this except for the fact that my bloodwork came back with high oxalates! And some UTI’s lately. And my Dr. Was not alarmed , but simply puzzled and said hmmm wonder why your oxalates are height? I certainly didn’t know why then, now... I know it’s most likely my 4 cups of kale I use in my smoothie each morning! Plus my other high oxalate foods 😳

yea... got a huge skin flare up one day... I was thinking and thinking and could only narrow it down to oxalates in the baby kale I consumed the day before. And I ate a lot of it. Mind you, I was already KETO, leaning on carnivore. Most things already eliminated from the diet.

I know 5G frequencies make plants and trees produce more terpenes and it makes the plant more flammable so I wonder if radiation makes plants produce more oxalates.

Stephanie Seneff is looking into that currently. I sent her what I know about the Salicylate plague that has been hitting my garden for the past ten years due to glyphosate and other Pharm chemical exposures. Our entire biosphere has been damaged. Dead trees, inability to even grow plants on my own land. Glyphosate is a chelating agent so even if the soil wasn't ruined generations before there is no hope of recovery now.

Could you please recommend the most accurate list of oxalate content as it's quite confusing ! Specially when there is a kidney stone condition in addition to candida, and tourette syndrome which is being ignored by natural food medicine community!!

After looking at some rearch it appears that our increasingly poor soil and use of chemicals may be triggering incresed oxilate production in plants as they strive to uptake the necessary minerals from incresingly poor growing conditions.I now am carnivore through a long journey via a wide range of science and keeping detailed journal of diet and symptoms.Iam wondering if calcium oxilate deposits may be another factor in vascular diseases and arthritic conditions also?I ate massive amounts of vegetables and a little fruit and took care of myself, excercised, weight training, swimming etc for decades( everything we are told to do by the 'experts',and went the extra mile) and here I lay with my health utterly destroyed and not one sensible or scientific explanation from mainstream 'Medicine'. I am doing better but far from functioning.Great discussion, but with the current plant based diet push this area will probably not be embraced by mainstream.

The main source of dietary intake of heavy metals is animal products. Everything is toxic in 2019.

It is probably because heavy metals bind to oxalic acid in your gut creating insoluble oxalate which is later excreted when you go to the toilet. :)
High oxalate diet can be dangerous though. It is about moderation.

My lower legs and feet hurt when I eat too many oxalates. I take magnesium oxide powder with a lot of water then exercise to help it circulate through my body, then soon i'm dumping. When I do that sometimes it hurts when i pee. I know I'm getting rid of them then. I think the magnesium oxide powder alkalizes. Oxalates are very acidic and I think too much acid in your body makes them stay inside..
