Understanding El Shaddai And The Mountain Of God

  • The Bible gives us interesting and intriguing facts about the spiritual world and how in many ways it parallels the physical world on earth. For example, there is a garden of Eden in the spiritual world, and one in the physical world. God rules from a mountain in the spiritual world, and has the highest place there, which explains why He is called “the Most High God.” Satan wanted to rule on that mountain and take God’s place there, but he was ejected from the mountain and cast to earth.

Thanks for this wonderful teaching, John. It's great to finally understand the parallel between the physical and the spiritual realm and what God creates, the physical, is a manifestation of what was there already in the spiritual whereby "on earth as it is in heaven".
Now, when you mentioned that in the millenial kingdom there will be a temple and literal sacrifices and wondered why, since Christ is the ultimate sacrifice, I have a theory. Since Christ's cross points backward and forward, only the middle, the cross, which is where we, believers are, doesn't require the sacrifice because Jesus IS the sacrifice. Accordingly, we, who have believed but had not seen Christ, do not need to sacrifice anything because we ARE living sacrifices. However, the OT believers and the Revelation believers will have seen either God or His refection in Christ so, as the Bible teaches, there is no more trust since what you'd trust in is right there for you to see. What strain of the mind is for you to trust what you see? Thus you have to sacrifice literal sacrifices in honor and to the seen God or Christ. Also, neither the OT nor Revelation believers have the holy spirit SEALED within them so they have to continually supply more offerings. If I'm correct, it would mean that sons and daughters of God would NOT sacrifice to that earthly millenial temple but only the mortals who survived Armageddon and their mortal offspring. Now, when we're in heaven for those 7 years of the Great Tribulation, we will have, of course, sacrificed to THAT temple and that's because everyone is required to it there to honor the Most High as the only Supreme, even Christ is shown doing that in John's Revelation. We may be co-equal with Christ but we aren't co-equal with God. I hope that makes sense. God bless you

I have read numerous books about the ANE (Ancient Near East) world view, and many papers. God living on a high mountain is a very common theme amoung the various cultures. The people were quite spiritual and believed in many gods. Israel was chosen by the highest God.

Wonderful, but can you tell me why your conclusion about the devil is that he is already thrown to earth? Or did I misunderstand you? Thank you.

It isn't clear what part of the teaching this would be referring to. You may find the REV commentary helpful on verses covered, esp. Ezek. 28:18. Blessings!

      Read Rev 12:1-9 REV Commentaries.
“thrown down to earth.” In the future, the Devil and his angels will once and for all be expelled from heaven and thrown down to earth. That will be the result of the war described in Revelation 12:7-9. Most Christians believe that the Devil and demons were thrown to earth when the Devil rebelled against God early in history, before the creation of Adam and Eve, but that is not the case.❤
