      @@JohnnysWhips To be honest the lights came back on after the change. For the TCC I deleted the code, so maybe it was memory. The range sensor on the other hand can't seem to fix that even with a new part. Hey man I’m trying to figure out what happened with my civic (05 ex se) I was driving at like 25-30 mph and came to a red light and instantly the car got a stutter, and when I went to drive off for the green light the engine just revved like I was in neutral. After turning it off and on the torque converter grabbed but won’t engage for long so I had to park it after having no acceleration. The shifter feels a lot more stiff when I put it in park from drive I’m pretty stuck on what could be wrong. What caused you to replace the solenoid? I have no engine lights or anything no warning before it happened I just stopped at a red light and the rest was history no fluid leaking or anything.

    • @JohnnysWhips
      @JohnnysWhips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply, To be honest with you I don’t know why that would happen to your car I’m really not sure. The reason I replaced the torque converter clutch solenoid on my car is because I plugged in my scanner when the check engine light came on and it said the torque converter clutch solenoid was bad. This happened after I put a JDM transmission. Then afterwards I found out that this was a common problem but the car runs good and the transmission runs strong. The only thing is that the check engine light stays on. Did you ever figure out what happened with your car?

      D4 flashing constant and there would be no flow for the oil to switch them gears. If u don't change it, most likely ur torque converter or transmission will ne shock or broken then u will need replacement! So fix asap and don't try to even drive it once d4 does flashes very poor decision just letting u know.

    • @JohnnysWhips
      @JohnnysWhips  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adam, what’s up bro! The car doesn’t have any symptoms at all. I put a JDM transmission and the check engine light came on. I plugged in my 3140rs Innova scanner and the code P1457 comes out. It says torque converter clutch failure. The car runs great with no problems. I’ve seen other videos were people say that they drive it like that for years and there’s nothing wrong with it but for some reason the JDM transmissions cause that check engine light to come on. I clear it but it comes back only when I go over 65 MPH. Only at that speed and above. If I never drive more than 65 mph the check engine light won’t come on but as soon as I go past 65 it turns on but nothing is wrong with the car drives perfectly fine with or without the check engine light on. I didn’t know about this until after I replaced the torque converter clutch solenoid LOL but hey we got a video out of it….By the way thanks for watching and check out all my other videos.👍

      Hey man! Just wanted to add a little to Johnny's reply. You can actually get a couple of codes with this being bad. However, it's only going to code if it's causing some sort of electrical issue that the PCM can read/see (I.E. Ohms out of spec range). You can have a failing TCC that doesn't set a code because of manual operation failure. Common issues of that would be the torque converter not engaging (revving but not going anywhere) or not operating smoothly (car downshifts and free-revs for a second before actually going anywhere...especially when you floor it) or even harsh or jarring upshifting. You can test the internal coil by ohming it out with a multimeter (should be between 12 - 25 ohms) and you can bench test it by putting 12V power to it and listening for a click. There are some other sensors that can cause those issues as well (like the VSS and A-B Shift Solenoid). Short of finding something wrong with the ohms or the bench test, you're stuck shotgun-diagnosing it and randomly replacing sensors. There are some other indicators that may lead you to suspect one sensor over the other (like if your speedo randomly drops and then picks back up and has hard shifting it's probably your VSS and not the TCC... or has erratic up and down shifting and hangs when downshifting under full acceleration it's probably your A-B Shift Solenoid) but the problem is with intermittent failures and no codes, it really COULD be any one of them...or even a couple of them.....or a mechanical failure within the transmission as well. If you're gonna start randomly replacing sensors/solenoids, I would suggest starting with the cheapest and working your way up (so probably TCC, A-B Shift Solenoid, then VSS)

Alot of video show just replace but can't explain the con or pro lol. Maybe u and don't know. But it's very important to change it out. The torque converter clutch is working as switch to let all them gear switch when rpm is reached, and if this sensor doesn't be replaced, most likely ur torque converter or ur transmission will be broken and need to be replace from being damages. This sensor do release the flow of oils into them selectors gears if anyone wants to know what it does. So here I explain it to whoever concern them. My 2 cents for everyone. First thing to do is to drain and fill the fluid, don't flush, and use OEM fluid only. Lucas stopslip may be helpful too. If that doesn't work baby the transmission by not reversing as much as possible and live with it.

      Because when the code comes up on your car to change it, most likely you have REALLY CRAPPY gas mileage, among other things. The best way to test this is swap the coil pack from another cylinder to the bad one and clear the code. Take it for a test run and check for code again.
