I can also speak Filipino and what a delight to hear you sing that line in Filipino. Always referring to your videos in practicing our Sunday songs. Thank you Cris!
In the presence of our God, as we gather here in Christ, feel the Spirit breathe upon us, the breath of life, grace and divine. We have come to break the bread; we have come to share our lives. Let us bring these fruits to the table, the love of God, yours and mine! Refrain: Ang katawan ni Kristo Ang katawan ni Kristo Behold the Body of Christ, Jesus our Saviour and Life! Rejoice O people of God! We are the Body of Christ! When we gather in our homes, through our prayers and our meals, we are fed and nourished together, our families, broken and blessed. In the household of the Lord, where we come to share the meal, we are fed the words of our Saviour, one family, strengthened and healed. Refrain. Bridge: Is not the meal that we bless and share a communion in the life of Christ? One bread, one blessing, one cup make us one body in our lord. In the presence of our God, by the justice that is shown, we will build a kingdom together; the Love of Chris given to all! Refrain.
Very beautiful praising rejoicing and thanking God. Thanks for keeping the Church of Jesus Christ in the Body of Christ. God bless and reward you and your family.
Thank you Chris! Once again, I come to your video first to learn a "new" hymn to cantor. I'm so grateful for your "frills free" performances. I also like your voice, it's very smooth.
Wow! I amazed listening you sing the song composed by our kababayan. I always refer to your Psalms and Gospel Acclamations every time I am assigned to sing in the church. Thank you for your music.
Youre so awesome Chris! You just gave me goosebumps and my eyes teary. God bless you for inspiring so many people especially those who serve in the church like you. Salamat!
Thank you very much Chris for covering this song. This is perfect, I like the tempo and the delivery. My fellow choir member will definitely appreciate you effort. By the way, you pronounced "Ang Katawan ni Kristo" excellently.
Oh thanks! At my church we have a young Filipino priest......in fact we did "Halina, Hesus" during Advent last year. The verses on that were quite a challenge for my choir.
+Chris Brunelle Oh I didn't know that, that "Halina Hesus" is in OCP too. Yeah, I remember singing that song back where I came from, thats definitely a challenge for you guys. I bet the Filipino parishioners was very happy. I believe that's your church in the background, what a beauty.
Halina Hesus isn't in any of the OCP hymnals but you can get the music for it through them. We did it at a Christmas concert that was songs from around the world. I think we did well enough on it that we may even try to use it this coming Advent. We actually have very few Filipino parishioners right now, but we are hoping that changes the longer our priest stays with us. Because they love to pray, sing, and make GREAT food!
+Chris Brunelle We sang 2 masses this morning and we did "Ang Katawan ni Kristo" (as one of our communion songs)and guess what after the mass one of our parish's retired musician approached us, and gave us the nicest words. Thanks again Chris, you inspired me to keep up playing the guitar, and serve God through music.
Yeah you know what's interesting about that, I USED to do the song slower and then a couple years ago I had the chance to work with Ken Canedo at a mass where we were using this song. He is himself Fillipino and is very connected with that community. He told me that the song (at least around here in Portland) is usually done a little faster and with more energy. I wasn't used to that, I prefer it at the tempo that you suggest, but when I recorded it I did it closer to the tempo HE suggested. I think it can work both ways.
Yes! It really worked both ways! I just knew that it is also great playing at a faster tempo when I saw this vid, because my mom and the choir in GSC used to play it at a slower tempo which for me is one of the best songs during communion. I'll tell mom to try this song having your tempo during the mass when I came back :) thank you for having this vid, it really reminds me of our church at GSC and makes me relax during studying. God bless!
Well for the sake of not taking money away from the composer, I should probably just direct you to the OCP (Oregon Catholic Press) website, where you can buy a downloadable copy for about $2. Plus it would be a lot of chords to try to write out here. :-)
This arrangement I'm using comes from OCP (Oregon Catholic Press) if you click on the link in the description it'll take you to their website where you can find it. God Bless
