Movies that define me: Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Oldboy, Shawshank Redemption, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Requiem For a Dream, Taxi Driver
American Beauty and Fight Club both came out within a year of each other and both movies had the same message to not let your life revolve around material wealth and I've taken that to heart.
Movies that define my life would be: Terminator 2, Fight Club, The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, Jurassic Park/The Lost World Jurassic Park, How to Train Your Dragon, Bridge to Terabithia, and Toy Story trilogy. These movies are either ones I grew up with or left a huge impact on my life.
Dazed & Confused - Perfectly sums up my teenage years, just hanging around with friends and having a good time. I genuinely miss those days too. Disney's Peter Pan - Totally shaped my imagination, defined my childhood, and the moral of the story still resonates with me as an adult. Harry Potter series - Grew up with this franchise, made me love reading, taught me so many things, I could honestly write a book on why it defines me. The Dark Knight - I'm a Batman fan, and the Joker is my all time favorite villain. What more is there to say? Mallrats - My primary hangout place! Dead Poets Society - I had a teacher just like Mr. Keating, and ironically, was my English teacher. The School of Rock - I had a teacher like Dewey Finn as well, it was my band director. This movie depicted a typical day in class lol. Whiplash - I'm a drummer, that's all there is to it. Home Alone - I'm the youngest in my family, was pretty mischievous, and totally set up boobie traps in my house just or the hell of it.
I'd like to have that distinction between movies that I love and movies that defined my life. For many people out there it might not be like a masterpiece, but when I was a kid, I would watch Spider-Man like every other day.. I literally know this movie by heart and I think it may have tought me some moral values... The same goes for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
I've always wanted to make a movie channel like you are doing but you are doing such an amazing job, no ideas come to my mind. movies that define my life, well there are a couple. 1) The dark knight rises: it defined me because i will fight for whats needed until the end, and come back to help out my friends when they think they lost me. 2) One flew over the cuckoo's nest: I have that seriousness but with my little sense of crazy and humor to go along with it. 3) Django Unchained: When i loose the ones i love, i will stop at nothing to get them back, and if i was alive around that time i would probably of pulled a Christoph Waltz with all the legal dead or alive stuff. there are probably a lot others, but who knows.
My Top 10 Favorite movies. 10. Matrix 9.Indiana Jones trilogy 8. Godfather (1 and 2) 7. Reservoir Dogs 6. Terminator (1 and 2) 5. Goodfellas 4. Dark Knight Trilogy 3. Back to the Future Trilogy 2. Pulp Fiction 1. Star Wars (original trilogy
Good list! Shawshank is my favorite movie of all time. Because the story is a timeless classic. I could relate to Andy feeling wrongly imprisoned and trapped in a world of chaos and utter pain. But some how he manages to find the best in his friends and everything around him.
Here are mine: •The Big Lebowski- I have always envied The Dude, he has a care free life and I always try to be as Dude-Like as possible • Ghostbusters- Me and a lot of my friends are like the Ghostbusters we are total nerds with really cooky personalities. If I were one member, I would totally be Rick Moranis • Fight Club/Office Space- These two kind of go together, because they both remind me of the stupid office job I used to have and the dickhead of a boss that came with him • Almost Famous- I am a rocker, and I just thought the journey the kid went on were just so cool and I always wanted to do that. • Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Kahn- This is the movie that introduced me to the francise and I have been a Trekkie ever since
My Top 5 1. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy 2. Original Star Wars Trilogy 3. The Dark Knight Trilogy 4. Terminator 2: Judgement Day 5. Point Break (1991)
Original Star Wars Trilogy, Forrest Gump, The Magnificent Seven, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Little Miss Sunshine, The Dark Knight, Toy Story, Inception, The Lion King, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Good Will Hunting. There are plenty others, but I'm forgetting. Great video John, all the best!
Great video John :) I laughed a lot watching this and congrats on 300 videos dude. You posted this video at the right moment, definitely a great way to celebrate 300 videos on The Flick Pick's channel
I am still fairly young (19 years old) so I still have to live some more to see what movie experiences stick and define my life more. Still here are a few. Scott Pilgrim VS the World Taxi Driver The Big Lebowski Fight Club Rocky
Star wars, LOTR, Jurrasic Park, Toy Story, Gladiator, Terminator 2, Iron giant, Back to the Future and Godzilla 1998 (yep, but for a 4 year old i loved the big lizard, not any more of course). Those movies where my childhood. There are many more but those are my favourites when i was a kid and all but the Star Wars prequel trilogy and godzilla i love today, there are many movies now that i am older that i never saw when i was younger that i absolutely adore. But they never defined me and gave me great memories like these did.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? Yeah. Although the gamer aspect is cool and all, it's the whole character study of Michael Cera in that movie that really defines my life. From the way he acts, to his sometimes poor decisions (and his kind of failing love life) I adore this movie and it is a strong contender for my favorite movie of all time, just because of how much it is influenced. The first time I watched it, it inspired me to call up the woman I love, but had lost touch with, and rekindle that relationship
For me no doubt it's Star Wars a New Hope. I first saw it when I was 9 (1985) when I first taped it on video - after seeing it, it made me realise the scope of what movies could achieve and that the only limit was the imagination. Other flicks that defined my life were Rope, The Good, the bad and the Ugly, The Shawshank Redemption, and Pulp Fiction.
The Dark Knight Trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy, The Avengers, Halloween, A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Matrix, Star Wars, Terminator Franchise, A Clockwork Orange, Scarface, Toy Story Trilogy, Borat, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Friday, Back to the Future, Ferris Buellers Day Off and Pulp Fiction are films I loved my whole life
-the hunger games -disney movies like cinderella & beauty and a beast -lord of the rings -spider man -harry potter -high school musical ... interesting mix
Very similar to ´Stand By Me´ for you. ´The Goonies´ was definitely a defining movie in my life, Best quote in the movie - " the worst thing I ever done - I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa - and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other" - Don´t you just really miss being a kid?
Mine would be American Psycho, Home Alone, Shawshank Redemption, ALL of the Dark Knight Trilogy, Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, The Lion King, A Clockwork Orange, The Truman Show, Rocky, American Pie, Toy Story trilogy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Lost in Translation, Tarzan, Spider-Man series, Bruce Almighty, Titanic, and Shrek 1-2. Yeah.. that's a lot to explain
The Movies that define me Arrival- I think about Aliens more than the average human being. 500 Days of Summer- What can I say.. I'm a hopeless romantic Spiderman Homecoming- This movie understands what growing up is all about.
Great video, really makes me think about what movies would define my life. Though some of your movies would probably make my list as well like Stand By Me and Home Alone
I watched home alone last night haha, going to watch the second tonight. Love them so much, he was such a good actor for such a young kid, then he got old haha
It's actually really eerie how much we have in common in terms of movies, Back to the Future trilogy, stand by me, home alone some of my favorites, if I had a youtube channel it would be just like yours if you live in Michigan that would be even odder. I mean this in the un creepiest way possible by the way.
1= Terminator 2 Judgement Day= It's the earliest memory I have of watching any movie in my life. 2= Watchmen = It not demonstrated but also voices my views on humanity at least at the time, but also I actually do like some of the lines in that movie and one I feel I could identify with. 3= Disney Frozen = It changed me for the better, I wasn't exactly one of those people you would want to be around pre Disney Frozen. And of course the songs, the songs aren't just songs to me they are much more, so much so I choose not to sing it or listen to it on any old time of the day. And finally I could identify with Elsa at times I think most of us can. With being an outcast and all. 4= Ironman = Before Ironman I wasn't aware or cared what Superheroes or Comic Books where. And now I say most of my collection is made of Comic Book Movies and TV Shows. So in a way I lacked interest until Ironman came along. 5= And finally, this is so embarrassing. MIB (Men In Black) = I used to watch and try to do the dance moves and sing the theme of Men In Black by Will Smith whenever I was alone and no one was watching when I was little. And because of it later on in life I got interested in Rap along with a whole host of other genre of music, when I finally discovered Music and Music Videos officially. And The MIB Soundtrack was the first Soundtrack that I every bought and owned with my parents money of course, I do know why was supposed to buy The Monthly Bus Pass with that money but instead I bought the MIB CD, lucky I was given more money to buy that Monthly Bus Pass for the time. And I guess I was kind of obsessed with MIB at the time and I didn't even know it, it was the second thing in my life that I was obsessed with after the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail-It showed me comedy in a new dimension. The Avengers-It was my fist (and best) comic book movie. Dr. No-First Bond movie I saw, introducing me to something beautiful:007.
Cool List Most of thees movie you sied also Define My Life Also except for Point Blank cus i've never seen it or heard of it and for my list of other films include Carrie, Warm Bodies, Ran Man, Forrest Gump, The Spider-Man Trilogy, The Lord Of The Rings Movies, Office Space, The Big Lebowski, The Lion King, Tangled, The Little Mermaid, ect ect it goes on and on and good good list =)
Movies from my childhood: Ace Ventura, Tommy Boy, Spaceballs, Predator, TMNT: Secret of the Ooze, Gi Joe: the movie (1987), Happy Gilmore, Terminator, Home Alone, Ferris Buler, Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom, Liar Liar, Batman (1989), the Matrix.
Films that define my life: The Social Network [I am always on computers and would love to invent a computer program and get rich], Stand by Me [the childhood I never had but wanted minus finding a dead body], Star Wars [it's Star Wars enough said], Taxi Driver [I agree with Travis that the scum should be whiped out], Batman [It's Batman], The Shawshank Redemption [the friendship I will never have] and A Clockwork Orange [the film that made me apreciate cinema more]
Kick-ass and Superbad. Both movies came out when I was in high school, and every Friday reminded me of the plot of Superbad, and I always wanted to go out and fight crime. I still think a lot about these movies and watch them a lot.
Hey John, This is kinda off topic, but how are you able to watch so many movies so often? I am currently a film student and I struggle when I am home to watch movies, Id rather sit on the computer and play video games haha. Any tips? :D Love this videos, watched about 80% of them, on both channels.
Back To The Future trilogy, Jurassic Park, Vanilla Sky, Dark Knight trilogy, Pumping Iron, RoboCop, Power Rangers movie, Fear and loathing in Las Vegas, Peter Pan, the Prestige
I'm not even going to lie, the Star Wars prequels had a huge impact on my life. I know they're crapped on all of the time but I cannot deny how much I loved them as a child and how they have impacted me.
actually flick you can go straight from american psycho to home alone, pat baitman and kevin from home alone share very similar traits, they both get up in the morning, look in the mirror and talk to themselves about insignificant stuff. ive never looked at home alone the same way since realizing that lol!
Music has had more of an effect on my character than movies honestly. I just really can't remember a movie that has changed me. I can remember plenty that I absolutely love but I never really felt they molded my persona.
.-Amelie/Wolf Children "Happines after all" .-The lord of the ring saga/Batman Dark night/V for vendeta/Braveheart "against all odds" .-Frankenstein "the cost of a dream" .-Tree of Palme/butter fly effects/Bisentenary man "sacrifice for Love" .-Cinema Paradiso/Big "the lion is not as it looks" .-7 pounds "redemption" Is what I can remember for now.
I think the movies that define my life would be 1)Rocky 2)Over The Top 3)Batman Begins 4)home alone 5)Back To The Future 6)The Town 7)Ferris Bueller's Day Off 8)Toy Stroy 9)American psycho 10)Star Wars 11)RedDog
That would be: Fight Club, The Watchmen, Rocky, American Psycho, Jeeppers Creepers, V for Vendetta, Matrix, Dragon Ball / Z, Spider-man Series, Batman Beyond, Dark Knight.... many more... + Many documentaries // // If one movie --> Fight Club.
Great list. For me it would be a combination of Avengers Assemble and Man Of Steel, alongside The Dark Knight Trilogy as movies that got me into comic book films in the first place. In addition Inception and Argo would be in there for introducing me to those really smart crazy films that are out there. Also nearly all of the Pixar/Disney combo films as nearly all of them are awesome and define a lot of peoples childhoods in one way or another. Plus The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy for introducing me to these huge epic films and showing me masterful scores that I would go on to adore so dearly. :)
All those films really define me except for American Psycho hehehe Though it is a great film. I would add The Sandlot, Green Mile and every other Tom Hank film, almost every film with the late great Robin Williams, John Cusack, and Johnny Depp as well as The Crow with the late Brandon Lee. Also, I watched alot of action films with all of the iconic action stars such as Bruce Lee, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean Claude Van Damme, Jet Li, Jackie Chan and even Michael Dudikoff with the American Ninja Series. Along with almost every Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elmst. film and romantic comedy out there. That was pretty much my childhood;)
Movies that define my life are the Jurassic Park franchise, T2, Matilda, Twister, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, 300, Saw, Scream and the Jeepers Creepers movies
school of rock defines my life because I'm not only a huge music fan but a fan of rock and metal bands like Metallica, Motorhead, and so many others Jack Black mentioned I love that movie
I'm 13 and for me I've got to say... Perks of Being a Wallflower cuz it's just totally relatable to me, also The Breakfast Club, Kings of Summer, Watchmen, Dark Knight, and Fanboys. (Cuz i'm a total fanboy)
Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Taxi Driver, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Annie Hall, Fight Club, A Clockwork Orange (I might consither it much more sick than American Psycho)
Good list John, I knew Point Break would be here. You probably heard Hollywood wants to remake it and I don't think anyone likes that idea. I agree it's good, I seen it only twice but it's not special to me. Speed is special to me, I seen it when I was a little kid and it's my first Keanu Reeves movie. I somehow didn't like Ferris Bueller.
It's true, movies that get stuck in your brain aren't usually classics..When I was a kid the biggest impact on me had movie Hackers..Later on I'll have to say Fight Club
I think The Mask describes my life *(I haven't watched it but I get the idea of the movie)* The Mask is silly goofy and funny, that describes my type of humour. And to that, I say thank you Jim Carrey.
1.) pokemon the first movie 2.) All the DBZ movies 3.) Ghost in the shell Stand alone complex 2). A very goofy movie 1.) all of Miazaki's films including his older films like Spirted Away Princess Mononoke and the last he he did that was based on the UK story the borrowers, called The Secret of Arriety I know hes doing another based in japans WW1 era forgot the name for it
I would say movies that made an impact on me would be... The rocketeer, The last crusade, the crow, ground hogs day, Eternal sunshine for the spotless mind and what about Bob ,.... And Blood Reign, I got brain damage after watching it...
The "thank you" line from "Batman Begins" always gives me chills!
Curt James the part that does that for me is "I swear to god", "Swear to me"
Movies that define me: Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Oldboy, Shawshank Redemption,
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Requiem For a Dream, Taxi Driver
American Beauty and Fight Club both came out within a year of each other and both movies had the same message to not let your life revolve around material wealth and I've taken that to heart.

3) Django Unchained: When i loose the ones i love, i will stop at nothing to get them back, and if i was alive around that time i would probably of pulled a Christoph Waltz with all the legal dead or alive stuff.
there are probably a lot others, but who knows.

definitely american beauty..Lester is the most relatable character ever

Rebel Without A Cause and Fight Club. I'm the hybrid love-child of James Dean and Tyler Durden.

Mallrats defined my life especially with jay and silent bob
John, you're impersonations are pretty good.
So far the big lebowski, fight club and every movie John Williams composed the score for.
Music has had more of an effect on my character than movies honestly. I just really can't remember a movie that has changed me. I can remember plenty that I absolutely love but I never really felt they molded my persona.
.-Amelie/Wolf Children "Happines after all"
.-The lord of the ring saga/Batman Dark night/V for vendeta/Braveheart "against all odds"
.-Frankenstein "the cost of a dream"
.-Tree of Palme/butter fly effects/Bisentenary man "sacrifice for Love"
.-Cinema Paradiso/Big "the lion is not as it looks"
.-7 pounds "redemption"
Is what I can remember for now.
Donnie Darko
it seems this your 300th video. congrats.
I think the movies that define my life would be
1)Rocky
2)Over The Top
3)Batman Begins
4)home alone
5)Back To The Future
6)The Town
7)Ferris Bueller's Day Off
8)Toy Stroy
9)American psycho
10)Star Wars
11)RedDog
Fight Club.
John did you ever watch Batman the Animated Series?
Pay It Forward and A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Because I always used to get bullied and wanted to make others be happier and good to others
That would be: Fight Club, The Watchmen, Rocky, American Psycho, Jeeppers Creepers, V for Vendetta, Matrix, Dragon Ball / Z, Spider-man Series, Batman Beyond, Dark Knight.... many more... + Many documentaries //
//
If one movie --> Fight Club.
Did anyone else think that the ice cream that Kevin is eating in home alone is shaped like an ear?
Lion King, Toy Story, Star Wars (All of them), Spider-Man 2, 500 Days of Summer
The Amazing Spider-Man defines me, because I am a nerd and I would be responsible with powers
the dark knight rises and the curious case of benjamin button and matilda define my life lol
What is your favourite movie villain and hero, John. Please resond.
I love your love for american pyscho 😂😂👏
Scott pilgrim vs the world, batman begins, the dark knight, goodfellas and kickass
Surprised you forgot Superbad
Star Wars, The Dark Knight, The Usual Suspects, Elysium, The Godfather. There's a lot.
Christian Bale is Great
From Bateman to Batman ..
That's progress
I wouldn't say "How do you go from American Psycho to Home Alone", I'd say how do you go from Stand by me to American Psycho
Big Lebowski defines my life, LONG LIFE THE DUDE
Good list John, I knew Point Break would be here. You probably heard Hollywood wants to remake it and I don't think anyone likes that idea. I agree it's good, I seen it only twice but it's not special to me. Speed is special to me, I seen it when I was a little kid and it's my first Keanu Reeves movie. I somehow didn't like Ferris Bueller.
no matter how many times you say you didn't like Batman Forever and Batman and Robin as a kid, I don't fucking believe you!
It's true, movies that get stuck in your brain aren't usually classics..When I was a kid the biggest impact on me had movie Hackers..Later on I'll have to say Fight Club
perks of being a wallflower
Great video. :-D
The Big Lebowski and Fargo define my life
The Matrix if I had to pick one.
Raiders of the lost ark! I saw it when I was 8 and everything ive ever wanted to be was Indiana jones
Where can I buy a "Get to the Flick Pick" t-shirt?
There is a link in the video description.
Flick
I think The Mask describes my life *(I haven't watched it but I get the idea of the movie)* The Mask is silly goofy and funny, that describes my type of humour. And to that, I say thank you Jim Carrey.
1.) pokemon the first movie
2.) All the DBZ movies
3.) Ghost in the shell Stand alone complex
2). A very goofy movie
1.) all of Miazaki's films including his older films like Spirted Away Princess Mononoke and the last he he did that was based on the UK story the borrowers, called The Secret of Arriety I know hes doing another based in japans WW1 era forgot the name for it
I would say movies that made an impact on me would be... The rocketeer, The last crusade, the crow, ground hogs day, Eternal sunshine for the spotless mind and what about Bob ,.... And Blood Reign, I got brain damage after watching it...
The Lord of The Rings
The Danish tv show Klovn and the movie based on it: Klown.
