The time for such investigations should be limited to a fortnight, then a decision should be required as to whether to prosecute. That would cut the amount of re-offending that takes place whilst suspects are under investigation and not subject to the conditions of release on bail.
RUI has now become a weapon for police to use against somebody who has not been found guilty of anything. I was RUI for 18 months, eventually charged only for the CPS to drop the charges after another 3 months and 2 court appearances (CPS couldn't produce any evidence). During that total of 21 months the police had over £2000 worth of my property, including a smartphone which was my only way to make bank payments online. When I finally collected my property, I reminded the cop who got me arrested that the case was dropped for no evidence/offence. She replied "we have other thoughts on that".
Do u mind me asking. Were u arrested for R? I'm currently going through same thing. Mine been 17 months now. I was told it was sent to CPS this month. Still waiting. Was it the police that charged u or cps
No it's not a weapon I'm just very relieved that I'm no longer on bail anymore and Im now released under investigation now it's gonna take years but just gonna get on it normal life when time it comes then in comes. I had it lots of times don't get worried about I'm free for now
Quite quite magnificent. What a fabulous legal mind.

Can false accusations stay on record
yes it can. you will have to apply to get the arrest wipe away. that's if you're found not guilty of course
In my case I was never released because I was never arrested in the first place.
Released and nofurther action
