@@sean75005 She lied about what???? MrJoe never denied any of his outside children or the outside children of his children’s outside children. She told the truth, there was no baby. Someone put the rumor out and it took wings like all the other lies did about the Jacksons. James jumped on the bandwagon Brandon and Omer were welcomed with open arms as the other grandchildren. Mr Joe was proud of his offsprings. So to remark that she lied, where is your proof. What do you know that no one else doesn’t?? To make a statement such as this you need to come with proof.

When she got emotional seeing that mural of her brothers, it made me tear up too, because the media has done and said SO MANY nasty things to ruin The Jackson’s legacy, however those of us from Indiana, ESPECIALLY from Gary and the surrounding areas (like where i’m from) we have ALWAYS BEEN SO PROUD of them and stuck by them NO MATTER WHAT and I just wish they knew how greatly they are respected, celebrated and loved.

What people don’t realize is whatever happens to celebrities after they leave the stage is none of our business. Marlon said once “ people think they know us by seeing us on stage and they don’t! We are totally different people”! On stage they are working, they are giving the fans what they came to see: An excellent show. Just think of this you will never hear or see a Jackson sibling sticking their nose in other people business or disrespecting their elders. Their parents did it right. They were taught values and morals. Bloggers and reporters are still scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to make a Nickle off the Jackson name.

For those of us that grew up with the the Jackson’s and Janet Jackson, we can certainly appreciate how she’s allowed us to see her emotionally vulnerable. I teared up when Janet Jackson because you can connect with her pain, especially as it relates to her past relationships. She’s always been a major songbook in my life as a teenager in the 80s and then college in the 1990s. May God continue to keep, watch and bless Janet. We’re just glad she’s living to share a glimpse of her story. ❤️🙏🏽

One scene had me crying. I think it was when she was talking about James. So sad and thank goodness she moved on from him. Sadly he is so strung out these days. I don't know what would have happened to Janet had she stayed with him. The entire DeBarge family ended up on drugs and that might have been Janet's fate.

@@GraemeONeil I do feel there in an element of racism in the way Joe is dehumanised and monsterized in the media & his behaviour basically used as a license to disrespect the family by making cruel jokes. There are worse fathers, like Jamie Spears, Ryan o neal, or Aaron Carter’s mother.. but the media singles out the black father who never stole from his kids & gave them their independence when they wanted it, Only Joe’s children have a right to talk about him coz they were the ones affected & we should respect their feelings. Michael also loved his father & forgave him. I didn’t like when Bette Middler tweeted she was dancing in joy at Joe’s death cheering “the monster is dead”.. that was just grotesquely insensitive, monstrous & disrespectful to the mourning family and hell yeah it was racist.

In my small town where I grew up/live....the discipline was very much a normality here as well. As a child it does seem abusive and hurtful. I mean I guess.
Looking back on what I was heading down.......that discipline and tough love saved my ass. And we are here as a wonderful family now because of it. 3 kids I remember getting everything when I was young just by asking. He-Man, Nintendo, all the latest this and that.......no discipline what so ever.

I adored THE JACKSON FIVE and Michael Jackson yet when JANET released CONTROL I loved her Energy which can be seen since she was a toddler in the footage. The tears fell when RANDY JACKSON and JANET were touring the GARY INDIANA house and still grappling with the spectre of JOE JACKSON, Disciplinarian.
I also felt deep empathy for JANET as she was bombarded by people asking her about Michael Jackson Instead of Praising HER for her awesome Performances.
You are spot on with your observations Graeme and I believe Justin Timberlake has More Apologies to give JANET as he was nothing more than a Coward and low character after the Superbowl Performance.

The first 2 minutes caught me off-guard and made me emotional. Then....her struggle with James Debarge (whom we all know physically abused Janet.....and struggled with drug addiction, like many siblings in the Debarge family). That was really, REALLY heavy, for me (emotionally). Thirty-seven years later and it still gets her. I thought the producers were going to include the 2012 footage of James Debarge's testimony, on [tv. show] "Dr. Drew". Per James Debarge [in 2012]: Michael prevented him from jumping off the roof.....and committing suicide. Like, *DAMN!!*

yeah, opening with that mural moment was really powerful. It was extremely candid (as she was talking about something else), and we rarely see Janet get emotional like that, and it also subtly set up the theme of her having to build a career being in the shadow of them (initially). Side note: where's Janet's mural in Gary, Indiana? :)

Debarge was the sadest Unsung ep I ever watched. James learned abuse from Robert Debarge Sr. who physically verbally and sexually abused his wife and children. But the focus is/was on Joe Jackson? Come on ! Discorved by Jermaine, in an elevator at Motown Records in LA, they ( sang accapella for him on the spot ) they were supposed to be the Jackson's ( with only 1 girl tho) of the future. Bobby Debarge dated Latoya Jackson for a min ( he allegedly wrote I'll Call Your Name for her) also and the families were close.(still are ) Momma D who is still with us and wrote a book is good friends with Katherine Jackson. The inrony is Micheal and the family tried to help them with the drug problem and he winds up later in life addicted.....

I feel Robert Sr got away with it do to him being a white man and the fact it was the late 50's to early 70's nobody cared then about a white man abusing a black women. No media picked it up or wants to. Thank god momma D wrote that book

The only other time that I have seen Janet actually cry cry was during the one scene in Why Did I Get Married, Too. It was right after Michael had died and Tyler said that he would halt production of the movie so Janet could grieve and she went right back to work with everybody. The scene where Janet was on the stairs and the ladies were surrounding her was real were real tears and Tyler left that part in the movie.

Janet we have always loved you for you. Honestly I dont think we know another way. You will always be a Jackson yes, but honestly your shine sparkled differently. You definitely created your own star. What's interesting is that Janet is to me the closes singer, dancer and entertainer that we have to Michael, yet she has always stood and still stands as her own individual. You were fighting for "Control" but to me your voice, your soul was always your own. Much love Ms. Janet Jackson. #Nasty

I took off work for Part 2, along with the snow storm and well worth it. Both Part 1, Part 1 and 1/2 and Part 2 were literally everything and much, much more. Paula and Janet literally sound like one another and you can tell that they spend some serious time together. Most are still under the impression that Paula taught Janet how to dance and that is just false. Janet's doc, show her being a tiny girl dancing on the variety show with her family, so the woman always knew how to cut a rug. Paula and Janet were literally this magic pairing though and it seemed they needed one another. Paula's choreography was so amazing and literally brought out Janet. Janet basically helped Paula carve a career for herself, so these now women, who were young girls at the time, literally shook up the world and still able to do so. Paula called Janet her little sister and her getting emotional because they truly love one another, regardless of whatever most thought. As far as Janet not sharing enough, I feel she shared what was necessary. She cleared up a few things that has loomed over her career for decades. Janet managed to talk about her exes and what they had, and what went wrong, without making them seem like monsters. Discussing your life that consist with others is hard to do. Think about an 18 year old bride, away from everyone she knows and loves, along with the facts that no one knew she was even getting married. Here she is, on her alleged honeymoon and left alone for hours because her groom has addiction issues that she literally just found out about. Just that aspect of the doc, was literally heartbreaking and when she relived her life with James, it was emotional to watch. Come on, she got JD to talk and she gave up her personal, homemade movies with Rene, which were rich..... Janet has always been a 'Boss Babe', and this is another notch on her 'Boss Legacy', "Don't Hate!!!!" . I always said Janet has never said a bad thing about a soul and when ppl were coming for her, it was just wrong because those Jackson kids literally have been "The CEO(s) of Keep On Keeping On Production", they deal with adversity as a family and keep it moving. Granite, they are human and allowed to feel joy, love, and pain but until this moment, you would never know that all the media hype would have the affect on them. They were literally babies, especially Janet being in a business that they not only grew up in but truly love with every inch of their being.

At about 30 seconds thereabouts when you said oh I love that with respect you are your own person but your tone of voice and everything sounded exactly like your brother Michael I have never said such a thing before and I say it to with respect but I heard him say that sometime or another and then when you said it I was like whoa anyhow I love you hugely Janet you are your very own person you're very own music you're you and I love you for you you okay I love all of your family individually with utmost respect not because of Michael Michael's his own person yes you were all a group yes you're all a family but you're also all very individual and I love you Janet God bless you in Jesus my name tears are just flowing from my face right now and I don't know why. So at one minute and 25 seconds then all of a sudden I hear you saying that you wish that you could just go by your first name and I had just said you're your own individual this is really freaking me out today this is really freaking me out because I'm saying things before I'm even hearing people say things this is freaking me out you're your own person precious lady and not because I heard it because I really believed it always always always I love your brothers but even after Michael died when the rest of your brothers used to do tours and in the comments everybody would say oh it's not the same without Michael yeah you know what God let him be the rest of the family are their own individuals with her by group or however you all do it this is freaking me

We all knew she was married to James, we all knew most of the Debarge family had drug problems, but what I didn’t know that he had a drug problem while they were married, and that she spent most of their marriage battling his addiction. Also didn’t know she didn’t won’t to do FAME. There was a lot to unpack for me.

It has been such an extraordinary and enjoyable few weeks watching the documentary....
What shocked me the most is that - she had slipped from my own radar.... As a teenager, she was a staple in my top 10 consistently.... How did i - forget her?? HOW did that happen?
The documentary helped me to make sense of that too.... It's time for Janet Justice and for a big fat apology and re crowning for her from those shade makers that put their financial power behind blocking her star - over nothing really.... Karma wins every time.... look at Moonves now!
The documentary has not only returned Janet to my radar, but for the last 3 weeks she's been my number one and i reckon she'll stay there for quite a while yet!

Janet did a great job on her documentary I enjoyed every minute of it she’s has such a humble spirit. Janet could have went further in her career it wasn’t for that incident with Justin Timberlake he the one who exposed her but she took the blame and messed her career up that wasn’t right she couldn’t even attend the Grammys made her look like a you know what. It was awhile before Janet was in the spot light again. I happy for her she was blessed to have a beautiful son now she’s a mom ♥️
