Thanks for the video Bo! I totally agree that ambush is very underused. I run a US army with skirmishers and don't use it much which I realize now is a huge mistake. There are so many perks:
    1) you may well end up shooting at a unit with better modifiers than if you had fired outright
    2) you can still go down if fired upon
    3) if assaulted, you get to fire at point blank range with no cover EVEN IF the assaulter started within 6 inches
    4) you can use the ambush status to affect your opponents choices and still have a 50/50 chance of getting to fire at the end of the turn (if you end up not springing the ambush or going down)
    5) if you are still in ambush at the end of the turn you can stay in ambush for the next turn before any other order die are even drawn which can be a huge advantage in some situations
I think because the US has the move and shoot ability I tend to over use it and play way too aggressively, putting my skirmishers in bad positions to often. I need to use the move and shoot to get them into good position about mid board around cover and then seriously consider going into ambush more often.
I also don't move and shoot backwards often enough. Which is kind of the whole point of being a skirmisher. You maintain your distance and pump fire into the enemy.

That transport trick is really cool. As someone who's a fan of bren carriers I'll definitely be getting use out of that.

I say the US probably has the cheapest tough fighter, veterans as my 10 man squads with 2 BAR's and the rest rifles only come in at 150 points. Thben my premium assault unit is my filled to the gills Soviet Assault Engineers veteran no one and I do mean no one has even tried to assault them as they have about 6-7 SMG's a flamethrower 2 Panzerfaust and SN-42 body armor with 11 bodies. But it's hilarious when about 60 to 70% of the opposition is concentrated on them and ignoring the BA-10 and the inexperience squad on reaching and sweeping away the holding units on objectives. But that 11 man engineer unit is 266 points as loaded out, but they do stop any dead on rushing to a primary (center) objective.
Just played my Japanese and they are bullet magnets as it seems my opponents want to whittle them down to nothing. But then another thing I have to remember is that I have to close the range with the bamboo spears as they have no way of countering shooting if I can not make contact, but if I do and get 3-4 casualties I usually win 4 to 5 out of 6 times with just a unit of 10 men at 50 points. But after plying my US Army TF/veterans over just fanatics I say the advantage is fanatics when it comes to close combat/assaults.

Soviet Naval Squad, 14 points per figure veteran and tough fighter. Soviet Assault Engineers need to be steadily pinned and zeroed in with indirect HE.

where in the book does it say if you have the enemy snake around terrain that you can fight simultaneously? I also thought not all terrain can make you fight simultaneously

Reacting on assault is not possible, even in ambush, when the opponent plays Brits with the „blood curdling charge“ national rule- right?
