Great total fitting. Head + shaft + ball. ‘Iron” Lindsay’s is a great tester with a beautiful swing and so consistent and very relatable to the average golfer. Well done.
Awesome video....as a club fitter from the pre-launch monitor days, I have learned so much more from Ian and Matt than any school I’ve ever attended! Always look forward to your videos. Thanks so much
From the effects of the golf ball to influencing the strike location with the proper shaft, I always seem to learn something new. The content in the videos has given me a fresh perspective on how I look at my game. Great stuff as usual guys!
The Maestro at work once again. Great fit and Lindsey has such a sweet swing and very consistent. Very well done gents. The ball plays such an integral part to playing consistently well.
I’m really enjoying going through the library of TXG videos. Ian and Matt are awesome. I wish I had the extra time and extra money to get up to Toronto for a fitting. Thanks for all the great golf education, guys.
One of the coolest club fits I have watched. Ppl don't realize how much can be done to correct the ball flight, I myself waited years! Trying to change my swing for a "more" ideal ball flight. THEN I GOT FIT AND POOF! my ball flight is much much better (which increases my confidence and that just means more fun playing golf) You guys are the best!
Man your videos are entertaining! I can’t wait till the day I get to do my first fitting. Seems so crucial, and very intriguing! Keep up the good work!
Hey guys, discovered your videos about a month ago and LOVE them. I've since binged watched the whole channel and am always eagerly awaiting the next video. One thing I'd love to see is a fitting (especially driver) with a player who has a steeper downward angle of attack. Many of your subjects (Matt, Al, Lindsey, Ron) are classified as "shallow" or "pickers", which obviously trends toward certain launch/spin conditions. I think many of us out here hit down on the ball and would love to watch Ian work his way through a fit where he addresses the issues associated with that AoA. Keep up the great work!
I was fitted at Club Champion in Ft Worth at the end of September. I had this exact feeling when trying the 790s. The difference between the distance and ball flight compared to my gamers had me smiling the entire time. It was an incredible experience. My new sticks should be in this week, literally can’t wait.
I love those fitting videos. It would be great if you would state the chosen stiffness of the shaft as you go but other than that I don't think you could do much better. Hands down the best content out there.
WOW, how many line Balls does that Gal hit?! Tremendous fitting and awesome hitting, well done all! I just loved the smile on Lindsay's face at the end of the fitting, that was one Happy Lady!!!!!!
Awesome how you can tell with one hit the shaft is not the best for her (NS850 and OTi). Having a consistent player helps a lot. She even knows exactly were she misses. Great video, very informative.
The magician has pulled another rabbit out of his hat. A consistent 15 yards on the first setup? Really? How are you not the most sought after commodity on the tour...ANY tour?! And your beautiful assistant Lindsey just pounding the center line shot after shot..solid work from you both. Oh, and your color commentating robot Matt is a great fit. You guys have hit your niche. I applaud you all.
Great fit. Far more in my spectrum of speed. Love Matts but I will never be anywhere near his ability. Will be in for an iron fitting soon. My driver fitting was amazing.
The last fitting video with Matt and this one with Lindsey have been two of the very best! Really doing great stuff and learning a bunch! And Lindsey is a beast too!
Nice to see Lindsey back. It is great to watch Matt hit 200 yd 6 irons off the toe but can relate to Lindsey's numbers so much more. I always wondered why my driver distance is longer than some people I play with but our irons go similar distances. I don't take large divots so must be shallow like Lindsay.
I always reckon that the average male golfer learns more about clubbing, distance etc from a good female player than from the guys on tour. Requires letting go of the ego though...
OLDGOLD 100% agree but you can extend this to most sports. Average sportsmen don’t have the strength or physical ability of their pro-male counterparts. In reality they are physically closer to the professional women of that same sport- not in ability or skill but purely in terms of strength/speed etc. To this point they could therefore learn more from watching the pro-ladies, who in many sporting cases, actually use a greater level of skill, touch and feel because they often do not possess the raw strength and power that men often do (and often come to rely upon.) From an early age in sport males get obsessed with power and hitting things harder etc. Girls/women (seem to me) to just concentrate on getting better and don’t get trapped in the testosterone fuelled race to go as fast/hard as possible. This combination therefore makes top level women better role models/example to the average male players of the sport. All in my opinion of course and there are exceptions for sure. But I do think this is an overlooked point in most sports. And it does require “men” to let your ego go and accept that women might actually be better than you at something 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️😯🤔
@Red Greene My answer might have been too abrupt. My understanding was that Fergus targeted efficiency of power and technique. The less power the athlete can deliver, the most efficient he/she will be by bettering his/her technique. Hence the comparison (his point of view still) between men and women pro golfers. I believe sprinters need more of that power to make a difference as opposed to golfers. Bryson/Langer at the masters is a good illustration I think. That's why I found Fergus' statement interesting.
Nice video. Was interesting to notice that you set up her irons at 3 degrees flat, given her height. Also, the exotic shafts you put in her new TM irons are much better than one she previously gamed.
Thought I'd seen you guys cover it all.......NOPE......now you add in ball fitting! Another variable I've never heard talked about in the fitting process. More decisions. Maybe an instructional video on how to pick and ball for various swing speeds ad types of swings owls help if you haven't already covered it .Thx guys.
Another great video that we all can to relate to she is the perfect iron Byron for us seniors her swing speed is almost identical to mine. My 6 iron carry is 140-145 duh. Would love that 157. Thanks Ian and Matt you guys rock please move to the west coast🙏 Cheers from NorCal
Just bought a set of the P790 with the KBR stiff 120 gram shaft and love them. You can still hit bad shots obviously but when you hit it good you get rewarded. Even shots that are mishit a little still get good distance.
This was an amazing fit. I'm very close to Lindsay's numbers (must be the name), but my dispersion circle ranges from Vancouver to Montreal. At 27:00, the other point is that she will now be hitting 7 iron for 143 carry so the spin will probably be similar to the old 6 iron but with higher descent angle. Would love to see a 2 year update on this one (and a lot of the other TXG fits).
I dare say 90% of amateurs buy an iron straight off the shelf with whatever shaft it came in which is usually a nippon 950, use whatever lie it has, loft, shaft flex, shaft weight, shaft length, typical swingweight of D1/D2 and when they cant hit it long enough or straight, they try to fix their swing. As much as swing mechanics is important, this video is a perfect example of why u must get fitted. Equipmnt is important n its a far easier n faster way to improve yr game.
Great fit. P790 is an amazing iron. My young son plays them and also trains with p730 which he also hits well and prefers but the ball speed differential is too significant to ignore
Going for a fitting in 10 days time with independent specialist fitters in SE England, should be interesting to compare against the TXG gold standards. I only wish I was as consistent as Lindsay
Thanks guys and Lindsay for another great relatable video. I may be off base but I don't get the whole "powerbat = low spin = bad" argument. I would love to see a comparison of Lindsay's "old 143 club" versus "new 143 club" - whatever number that may have on the bottom - and compare spin rates - I'll bet they're not far away. This is the way it works on the course in my experience.
This seems like a relatively easier fitting because you didn’t have to factor in her hitting sever miss hits going wide left or right. All of her shots seemed to go no more that +-3 yards left or right from the middle line.
How about a direct comparison between M5 and P790. I'm playing off a 12 handicap and want to update my old school Taylormade R7's. What would you recommend?
Phenomenal video. I've learned alot from you guys produce. I'd love to make a wholesale change from my mizuno mp H4s. They are are still great and I game them pretty well. But price and having the nerve to change scares me a bit
Great video and one which really struck a chord with myself too. As soon as I heard Lindsey being described as having a shallow swing, and that being the reason why she hit driver a real good distances, yet her iron distances were relatively average. I thought wow, that's exactly what I do, +15 or 20% further than most with the driver and then very much Mr Average with iron distances. This has always been the case in 30 years of playing. So my question is as a player of 5'8", and a driver ball speed of 165 to 170mph, yet a 7 iron carry of only 160 yards, very shallow divots, could this be part of the explanation?
What is the loft of Lindsey's old and new clubs? 3-4 degrees of stronger loft could make similar changes - better smash factor, longer carry and less spin. Not sure about launch angle and peak height but they could also be affected by lower CG clubs.
The new ones are probably a little stronger. But with today’s tech it’s a stronger loft AND is launching at or higher than her old set. Loses a touch of spin, but she’ll gain it back because her “new” 7 iron goes the distance of her “old 6 iron”. This video also showed me how important the shaft is to all this too.
Awsome review. I'm a mid hcp myself and have a similar swingspeed don't know of her tempo though. I've tried the tp5x ball and didn't like it all was way to firm for my taste. Playing srixon tour soft today and happy with that ball. Gonna get fitted in like 1-2 months so gonna bring my old balls with me and also try out some other brands and the same time to see launch and spinn and see if there is any difference and if I'm gaining or loosing on switching the ball. Can't wait and must try the P790 also vs ping i525. Playing cobra tec x today and happy with them but still want to try out new irons that will stay a few seasons in my bag.
I would like to see the old faithful 5 iron compared also at the end. When you say she gained a club, my intuition is telling me that the number is different but possibly just created a gap down toward the wedge?
When Ian rubs his hands together, the look on his face is like the mad doctor that knows something special is about to happen! “ wait until you get a load of this ...!”
*Disclaimer - I haven't finished the video yet (**11:00**)* I think it's great she is picking up ball speed. But that jump in carry, ball speed, efficiency, and decrease in spin just says to me that's like her old 5 iron. I understand forgiveness is a factor here, and I'm not discrediting that, but that's the first thing I'm thinking, it's just a stronger loft.
i love the channel! keep up the good work guys. what was the specs of her old irons if you do not mind me asking? also what swing weight did you work on with the new set vs the old set?
What a difference.. I don't think I've seen anybody getting a fitting have that much difference.. Of course she's a machine.. She can really strike it!
Ian, I really enjoyed this video, it was very relevant to me. I play or have played the Steelfiber i80 R (i70 A) and the OTi 85 R. I struggle for distance as my username shows. Low iron strike location is also an issue so I am interested in knowing why did the raijin black change strike location? Would the Oti 75 regular have been a candidate?
170YardsCarry yes OTI 75 would have been another good option. Lindsay loves the feel of the Raijin and felt like her timing was much better with it. That’s the main reason she found the Center more consistently.
I thought I would come back to this video because I am going on a TM demo day tomorrow and having watched it again I think my experience on a recent proper fitting might be helpful. My swing speed is only marginally higher than Lindsay (79-80 mph against Lindsay's 77 mph) and I play M1 irons - although the 6i is at 28 degrees, not sure why because it was not ordered that way. However my problem was the opposite of Lindsay's, the strike was high on the club which gave me a very high ball flight but low spin (could not get to 4000 rpm with the 6i). Oddly that was manageable on the course in windless conditions because the ball came down at a really steep angle but obviously would lose a bit of distance. I have tried the Ping i210s in a heavier shaft (80g v 65g in my M1s) and that changed the strike completely and the combination of the head and shaft gave me 1000 rpm more spin. That gave me marginally more distance than Lindsay (5 yards of carry at most). I am really looking forward to trying the P790s and P760s tomorrow
She is such a good ball striker in terms of consistency, it's just incredible.
amazing
The golf club whisperer! Every time I watch these videos I learn more and would love to have this done to my setup!
Great total fitting. Head + shaft + ball. ‘Iron” Lindsay’s is a great tester with a beautiful swing and so consistent and very relatable to the average golfer. Well done.
Hope you boys get the recognition you deserve with educating so many of us through TH-cam
You deserve a TH-cam Oscar
This was one of the best videos you've done. I could watch her swing for hours!
#IanForFitterOfTheYear
Thanks for posting this Ian. Brilliant idea to cater for those with slower swing speeds. Hardly anyone else does this on YT.
Pure striker of the ball. Awesome fitting and keep up the great work.
Lindsey is my favorite guest! Awesome video as always guys!
So awesome... wish all the fitters are as detailed and methodical as you all are. Cheers from Dallas!

I learn something new on each one of these videos. Amazing to realize that a $4 golf ball can make the same difference as a $40/50 shaft.

You guys are the best!
The lads are the best out there. Another awesome vid and proof of a fitting all the way from the ball to the full bag.
That was a real treat to watch. The process is so fascinating to me.
Every time I think your videos can't get better you top your best with content like this. Great great work
great video, i always seem to go back and watch this one
Man your videos are entertaining! I can’t wait till the day I get to do my first fitting. Seems so crucial, and very intriguing! Keep up the good work!

WOW... amazing to see the shaft difference & just raising the impact point.
No wonder she’s smiling. TXG delivered yet again. Like solving mathematical equations and always coming up with the correct answers
Great as usual fellas. Glad to see 35k and climbing
I wish my "miss" was that consistent. She has such a great swing.
YAY!! Great job and just look at Lindsay's smile :)
Wow! Lindsey is so consistent. Love the technical aspects of this video. Keep up the great content guys.
What a swing, great fitting. Didn’t think the ball could make such a difference

WOW, how many line Balls does that Gal hit?! Tremendous fitting and awesome hitting, well done all!

Very Interesting fitting session. Glad Lindsay was a great ball striker. Phew! Great work again guys, well done!
Great video guys. I know how Linds feels. Getting fit by Ian has made me love golf again. It's a waste of $$ buying clubs off the shelf. Go get fit!
The last fitting video with Matt and this one with Lindsey have been two of the very best! Really doing great stuff and learning a bunch! And Lindsey is a beast too!
Adam Kolle thanks Adam!!
Holy crap, she is incredibly consistent
Super example of shaft fitting to strike point....well done !!

Great video! Really epitomizing the benefits and for some, a necessity of club fitting
Excellent work guy's..you guy's are getting better and better ..
Best part of this video is at 27:15. Great work guys.

amazing how much better her numbers were. how was she ever fitted for those old irons??!!
Really fascinating stuff. Ian’s a magician 🧙♂️
Awesome video guys and gal. I learn so much every time. Love it.

Oh just to have Lindsey's ball flight. I'm soooo jealous.
Such an insightful video. And Lindsay is the best!

Awesome job. Great, consistent swing!
Best fitting I've seen you do.
Ty
For the second test in a row, it seems that the right shaft helps the player not feel like they relax and not need to steer the club.
Great swing....huge improvement!
~15 yards per iron. I'm coming to Toronto.
Maybe we should start a go fund me page. 🤔
Great gains...she's one striker of the ball
She hits straighter than 99% of golfers... Insane
These guys (tech/evidence) and Malaska (psychological) are the best in golf in my opinion.
Completely agree
Great fit. P790 is an amazing iron. My young son plays them and also trains with p730 which he also hits well and prefers but the ball speed differential is too significant to ignore
Now Lindsay, The Iron Lady, has tools to match her title and skill!
Going for a fitting in 10 days time with independent specialist fitters in SE England, should be interesting to compare against the TXG gold standards.
I only wish I was as consistent as Lindsay
Justin Stephenson good luck Justin, hope it goes well!!
Can I ask who you had your fitting with?
Thanks guys and Lindsay for another great relatable video. I may be off base but I don't get the whole "powerbat = low spin = bad" argument. I would love to see a comparison of Lindsay's "old 143 club" versus "new 143 club" - whatever number that may have on the bottom - and compare spin rates - I'll bet they're not far away. Great video guys

rsalz Fitting is always easier when you contact is consistent.
Brilliantly done guys!
How about a direct comparison between M5 and P790. I'm playing off a 12 handicap and want to update my old school Taylormade R7's. What would you recommend?
Amazing guys, just amazing!
Phenomenal video. I've learned alot from you guys produce. I'd love to make a wholesale change from my mizuno mp H4s. They are are still great and I game them pretty well. But price and having the nerve to change scares me a bit

My comment persons to the p790’s haven’t seen them do the 760’s test yet.
@@VivaLaGolf42 they tested the p760 and also weakened the loft.....she felt slightly intimidated by the size
@@VivaLaGolf42 at the 18:45 mark

What a difference.. I don't think I've seen anybody getting a fitting have that much difference.. Of course she's a machine.. She can really strike it!
Brilliant ball striker. Great video
Outstanding!!
What do you think will be her longest iron in this set? Think she'll be able to elevate the 5 iron and get enough of a gap from the 6?
Snowman9K yes no problem. 5i will be the longest.
