The ruination event was years in the making. One of the primary concerns is that the event and cinematics kind of left the bulk of the major characters, that set up the events leading to the ruination, on the cutting room floor. Hecarim, kallista, yorick, all key players kind of got brushed to the side to make way for other more popular characters that didn't have much stake in the story. There is a novel coming out from the perspective of Kallista which is super exciting because she was basically forgotten during the ruination event. She's the one who basically led Viego to the Blessed Isles in the first place.

So just a heads up, the Ruined King game has a different story then the one portrayed in these cinematics. It’s kind of like the MCU, Riot wanted a chance to explore different versions of their own canon. The cinematics that you watched tell the story of Senna and Lucian recruiting other champions to become sentinels and defeat Viego, and the Ruined King game is about Miss Fortune recruiting champions to defend Bilgewater against the Black Mist. I think that the Ruined King game had a much better story personally, it was pretty clear that Riot only saw the Sentinels of Light event as a way to create skins for popular champions and completely ignore the champions whose entire lore and story revolves around the creation of the Shadow Isles. In terms of characterization and story I think Ruined King had a lot more thought put into it, the Sentinels of Light event was supposed to be League’s first foray into an endgame type event where they pulled characters from all kinds of different regions to team up against a common enemy and they completely floundered it. The next event like that is slated to be the Void event where Kai Sa has to find a way to defeat Bel Veth and the entire League community is hoping and praying that this one will be different. Great video as always, can’t wait for the next one!
I forgot to tell you, on the comment where I put all those cinematics for this playlist, I said one of them I only found it in Spanish, but I finally found it in English, it was Lucian's the purifier resolve, it actually is the champion theme but it starts with a intro on Lucian Senna and Thresh story. Also a week ago a trailer for the ruination book came out, you could check it out after all this playlist when you know all of the characters there. So technically there are 2 versions of the story. And then you've got the Canon version with the game, with Yasuo Ahri Illaoi Miss Fortune Pyke and Braum. So Lucian and Senna canon story ends on "Shadow's Embrace" and the ruination 2021 cinematic starts their event version of the ruined king. The GCL game storyteller video on sentinels of light fills a lot the gaps between the event cinematics to tell you more backstory on Viego.

The story event that happened in the main League of Legends game with Senna and Lucian was called "Sentinels of Light" (which is covered in those "Story so far" recaps with Akshan). The Ruined King game follows a different group of protagonists, and offers some background for what will happen later in the Sentinels of Light event. Also, technically, "The Ruination" itself refers to the events that took place hundreds of years prior involving Viego which lead to the creation of The Shadow Isles and Viego becoming The Ruined King. There's an upcoming novel that's going to cover that event from the perspective of Kallista.

The Ruination event has 2 parts, the Ruined King game and the LoL in-game event. I wont spoil anything, I just want to make things clear for you because the trailers you watched kinda mixes them up. So in the ruined king game the story follows the squad made up from Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Ahri, Yasuo, Pyke. Viego just got released and each one of them has different reasons why they want to stop him. The lol event takes place cannonically after the ruined king game but we got the game much later than the lol event. So in the lol event we have The Sentinels of Light, an order of warriors that dedicated their lives in fighting the dark mist. We have Lucian and Senna that join forces with the rogue sentinel Akshan and they recruit Gwen, Riven, Irelia etc. Basically a lot of popular champions that dont really have any connection to the Ruination storyline. Thats why the community was so mad and called this event a failure. There are champions like Hecarim, Kalista, Yorick, Maokai, Karthus that haved their whole stories related to the Ruination, but they were forgotten. Hope I made things clear for you.
Ah, the Ruination... Such a shame, honestly the Idea behind this even for the game had so much potential, but it failed due to how big of a mess it ended up to be. The story that got reduced into sad emo incel wanting ex back, but Indian telemarketer said no and the end. (in the cinematic department.) Ignoring half the cast that was involved in this event, so they can sell skins. A lot of characters were excluded, especially angered the lore lover side of the game when we had Maokai literal Ent like monster fighting for mother nature to banish the curse from the Shadow Isles. Oppsie nope, we go with the murder fanatic ghost of a man insted. Okay, we have the Monk who literally experienced the very start of the ruination and the only somewhat human like survivor of it, who's the sole purpose is to stop Viego The Ruined King from taking over the world and stop his madness. Nah, we go with the chick who likes the moon. For someone who's new to the lore this doesn't really show, so I'm not holding it against you, in fact I loved hearing your opinion and hearing your experience between cinematics, and I'm happy you enjoyed them.
ive heard the ruined king is fantastic and the cinematics are always quality but the actual event was so ass i tried to combine the vibes of their previous dating sim with an epic fantasy world ending event and it was horrible also theres a legends of runeterra cinematic you hgavent seen involving ekko, reksai, and pyke (seperately)
To be fair, after terrible event in League I wasn't sure if Ruined King game is gonna be good for me as I love the lore and didn't want it to be screwed up and let me tell you - despite me never playing that type of turn-based rpg, this is one of my favorite games, really well made, well prepared and tell so much lore it's crazy. The more you get invested into the game secrets the more lore it will unravel to you and I think it's perfect for both those who want to have a nice gameplay and for the lore maniacs as myself I can't wait to see you play it, will be there on Twitch for sure! 💜
@@georgieegames It's not that I don't like the concept of ruin, but the way it was done was horrible. It was the first real event related to the history of LoL, and as a person with knowledge about it, I think that the amount of inconsistency, total failure to use important characters and meaninglessness of events is too much to like. Because the real sense of liking this event depends on how much you understand League of Legends
Amazing! Loved all the setup and characters. The execution was lackluster, but coming from outside everything should look great! Also, the Ruined king game is REALLY good!!!
Unfortunately because of the lack of communication there are many versions of the story...there's wild rift's version, cinematic version, book version, ruined king (the game) version and the in-game client version. While they all have the main story in common, a lot of them have different details and even endings :/
Haha the uploads are going to be a little slower now a days but still will aim for at LEAST 2 videos a week :P don't worry! hehehe appreciate it though :P
I highly recommend reacting to Akshan's voicelines. When he first came out, I really wanted to hate him for being yet another shirtless himbo, but Riot gave him this infectious charisma that's impossible not to love.
God, I wish we got some cinematics for the burning tides event. Considering the timeline, that would have been a more preferable start than the ruination cinematics.
Side note, your reaction to the Ruined King trailer and some of the other videos today is EXACTLY why I think you should go back and re-do some of your early reactions to things like Warriors when you finish the list of champions. It's one thing to watch that stuff when you only know Arcane and Cait, Vi, Ekko, etc. But as you showed with the Ruined King trailer, recognizing each character as they show up is also a really great experience. "Oh she looks cool I wonder who she is" is a fun reaction, but so is "OMG it's Ahri! YES!" :)
For me as a veteran, ruination is not that bad but it was undoubtedly an underwhelming in game event. If you don't know, it was a visual novel story and they used some characters like Rengar and Pyke as a comic relief characters and it was very disappointing cuz their personalities are very serious and "scary". (Might be a Spoiler) And the way they ended Viego was bs he suppose to be a Global Threat character but they litterally put him down without a fight.
Unfortunetly, the Ruined King game is not really the same canon as the cinematics.. Both have a different ending to the story :/ Most of the players don't really liked this event at all because many reasons but one main is lack of consistency :/ BUT the Ruined King game is amazing, you will enjoy it really much! :) But i'm not sure how you will react to it because it's fucking long like 20h gameplay if you rush it
Vayne is the crossbow girl who was with Poppy and then joined the Sentinels in the last video. Shyvanna is the dragon girl and yes, her ult in game is turning into a dragon. Samira is the tough looking fighter girl who was with Darius in the video Karma and Poppy were in. All are super badass, they just happen to be further down the alphabet than you've gotten so far in your champion reactions. Definitely champs you should be looking forward to reacting to, especially the first two. ;)
Viego is just damn broken ,playing him rocks but playing against him is hell ... When you play Ruined King, keep in mind the story is slightly different from the main game's ruination. Should help with any confusion, It is mostly the same, but does deviate a little, Ruination was a little weird in that it had 3 different stories all going, and they all sort of did their own thing, most of it fits together, but some of it doesn't which led to a little confusion when going between them.
Carefull, so you don't get too confuse, the Ruined King game's story ends just before the cinematic "Ruination" of 2021, chronologically speaking. The event was okay, it would have being so much better if the game hasn't been delayed, but if the timeline was messy at the time for us, we got an REALLY awesome game, enjoy ;)
The cinematics are a version of the events and the Ruined King game is another version. I prefer by a lot the game There will be a book about ruination that is about Kalista, I am hyped (she was the Viego general when she as alive, but she got murdered Hecarin)
I just watched all your league of legend reaction video, you put so much emotion on this You really need to react to the world 2019 opening ceremony of league of legend, it's the best show you will ever witness, there is also the making of if you are interested, you won't regret it. Keep going, your reactions are refreshing ! ( sorry if my english sucks )
Technically you don't have to watch the Sentinels of Light stuff to play the Ruined King game, because the Ruined King game's event happened before the the Sentinels of Light's event, it's just that due to lock down and stuff the Ruined King game was released much later, if you watch it all there might be something with Miss Fortune that some might consider it as spoilers
We waited for the ruination event for almost a decade and instead we got trash. . Most league players especially the lore fan base is insulted. . We hope this event will never resurface again. . It was such a disappointment. .
Uff, you dont know half the drama that came with the ruination event. Was lorewise such a disaster that people genuinely feared that Arcane might be a flop. Tldr; The Ruination was teased for years with many champions that were directly linked to the Ruined King (Champions, you havent seen yet) Those champions didnt have high playrates though so it was more profitable to create skins and lore for more popular champions than to put people like Maokai or Yorik into the Story (Their whole Lore is the fight against Viego) Instead we got people defending stuff, where others would be way more logical in their respective region. Also because of Covid their release schedule was pretty f-up and content which should have released together released months apart. This totally destroyed the the narrative flow. It got so worse that the only canon part is, that the Ruination happened and Senna+Lucian were part of it. (Also the ending but i dont want to spoil it, how it was achieved though is also not canon)
For more in-depth information i would suggest Necrits video "Ruining the Ruination". Good part is that "Tryndamere" (one of the bosses of Riot, yes he named a champ after himself) admitted to have watched the 40 min documentary which only criticized the entire event. Was their first time having Game events combining canon Lore, so it was a hard learning experience.
I enjoyed the ruined king game a lot but just as a heads up, the game takes quite a long time to complete. So you probably will want to edit out a bunch because uploading everything is probably a bit too much for the average youtube audience attention span :D First couple of episodes not so much as thats a lot about discovering the game and its interesting but later down the line there is a lot of leveling or smaller side quests you can probably leave out.
The depths of why the Ruination event was disapointing don't really shine through in the things you can react. You can find some videos talking about it, though.

idk if u remember, but at the end of spirit blossom yasuo and ahri leave ionia and go to bilgewater, when the story in the game of ruined king starts.
@georgieegames How physical Senna is? She is basically Danny Phantom. Fully human with ghost powers.
That's a nice way to put it 😂
YESSS I CANT WAIT UNTIL PART 2
Why? Only good think in this video is Georgieegames
Thank youu! I am excited to delve into this story and the ruined king game :)
Nice to know you are getting introduce to leage world... 👍👍
Not sure if there are Gwen plushies but there definitely are tibbers plushes if you’re interested in those
Btw, big blue balls explains alot of viegos frustations
Oh no you miss the extra scene in the end of ruination cinematic
Missed the after credits on the ruination video =(
Ah, the Ruination... For someone who's new to the lore this doesn't really show, so I'm not holding it against you, in fact I loved hearing your opinion and hearing your experience between cinematics, and I'm happy you enjoyed them.
after league of legend logo you have sometime more of the cinematic but you always skip it, for exemple gwen video and ruination
Check out necrit video how powerful are champions according to lore it’s quite interesting
ive heard the ruined king is fantastic and the cinematics are always quality but the actual event was so ass i tried to combine the vibes of their previous dating sim with an epic fantasy world ending event and it was horrible
also theres a legends of runeterra cinematic you hgavent seen involving ekko, reksai, and pyke (seperately)
The more you get invested into the game secrets the more lore it will unravel to you and I think it's perfect for both those who want to have a nice gameplay and for the lore maniacs as myself
I can't wait to see you play it, will be there on Twitch for sure! 💜
I started playing Ruined King 2 days ago and I absolutely loved it so far. Can't wait to watch your playthrough.
I was afraid that will happen
Ahh not a fan of ruination? I get it, isn't for everyone but I am excited to find out more and play the ruined king! Thanks for watching anyways :)
My man Urgot 😂
@@georgieegames It's not that I don't like the concept of ruin, but the way it was done was horrible. It was the first real event related to the history of LoL, and as a person with knowledge about it, I think that the amount of inconsistency, total failure to use important characters and meaninglessness of events is too much to like. Because the real sense of liking this event depends on how much you understand League of Legends
I would love to see you react to Valorant - die for you ft Grabbits
You missed the post-credit scene from Ruination D:
BTW, the Ruined King Game is universally praised. It just released months after the event ended and everybody had moved on already.
I would love to see some Gameplay from you!!!! I love the nuance with which you analyse the characters and whole story of league
Whats going on? Literally second time I am thinking, why hasnt she uploaded league content yet :( And see this
Haha the uploads are going to be a little slower now a days but still will aim for at LEAST 2 videos a week :P don't worry! hehehe appreciate it though :P
Yup… All that chaos because of Runeterra’s biggest simp!
I highly recommend reacting to Akshan's voicelines. When he first came out, I really wanted to hate him for being yet another shirtless himbo, but Riot gave him this infectious charisma that's impossible not to love.
Hey but you didn't react to every cinematic? I believe there is the final one you didnt react to
Cant wait to see part 2
27:16 you missed a little bit more of the video
heres a the official league of legends list of their cinematics
th-cam.com/play/PLbAFXJC0J5GaupX-BYDsT12YfCUppoxHc.html
You forgot “Obsolete”
(Might be a Spoiler)
And the way they ended Viego was bs he suppose to be a Global Threat character but they litterally put him down without a fight.
Love the eye color and sweater combo!!
13:20 I already completed the game! Very cool.
Unfortunetly, the Ruined King game is not really the same canon as the cinematics..
Both have a different ending to the story :/
Most of the players don't really liked this event at all because many reasons but one main is lack of consistency :/
BUT the Ruined King game is amazing, you will enjoy it really much! :)
But i'm not sure how you will react to it because it's fucking long like 20h gameplay if you rush it
YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE RUINED KING GAME PLEASE!!! ♥️♥️♥️🙏
I suggest you watch this is war series by falcon shield.
the reacape of the chapter is good too its for a event with we got in the game its a story how the sentinal and viego battel for the futher of runtera
🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Vayne is the crossbow girl who was with Poppy and then joined the Sentinels in the last video.
Shyvanna is the dragon girl and yes, her ult in game is turning into a dragon.
Samira is the tough looking fighter girl who was with Darius in the video Karma and Poppy were in.
All are super badass, they just happen to be further down the alphabet than you've gotten so far in your champion reactions. Definitely champs you should be looking forward to reacting to, especially the first two. ;)
Speaking of voicelines, there more of them in Legends of Runeterra, has more interaction, too
Viego is just damn broken ,playing him rocks but playing against him is hell ... Basically ,the stronger u are the harder u lose(if he kills or assits in taking down an opponent ,he takes their soul and becomes them :gaining states ,items and abilities . basically he plays six champs ,36 items , multidamage and 19 abilities) 🤦 HE PUNISHES YOU FOR DOING GOOD EARLY GAME
To summarize
FUCK VIEGO
I prefer by a lot the game
There will be a book about ruination that is about Kalista, I am hyped (she was the Viego general when she as alive, but she got murdered Hecarin)
I just watched all your league of legend reaction video, you put so much emotion on this
You really need to react to the world 2019 opening ceremony of league of legend, it's the best show you will ever witness, there is also the making of if you are interested, you won't regret it.
Keep going, your reactions are refreshing !
( sorry if my english sucks )
you missed the absolution
i fucking love ur league of legends cinematics😍
Technically you don't have to watch the Sentinels of Light stuff to play the Ruined King game, because the Ruined King game's event happened before the the Sentinels of Light's event, it's just that due to lock down and stuff the Ruined King game was released much later, if you watch it all there might be something with Miss Fortune that some might consider it as spoilers
More 🙂
Full ruined king game? subscribed. Btw, if u has some experience with turn based, go for the hardest, cuz normal is SUPER EASY
Please react to "Call of Power: Ryze "
Btw it is Sen-ti-nel, I noticed you keep saying senential haha
my mouth doesn't want to pronounce that word I don't know what to do hahahah
@@georgieegames fair enough 🤣
We waited for the ruination event for almost a decade and instead we got trash. . Most league players especially the lore fan base is insulted. . We hope this event will never resurface again. . It was such a disappointment. .
Uff, you dont know half the drama that came with the ruination event. Was lorewise such a disaster that people genuinely feared that Arcane might be a flop.
Tldr; The Ruination was teased for years with many champions that were directly linked to the Ruined King (Champions, you havent seen yet) Those champions didnt have high playrates though so it was more profitable to create skins and lore for more popular champions than to put people like Maokai or Yorik into the Story (Their whole Lore is the fight against Viego)
Instead we got people defending stuff, where others would be way more logical in their respective region.
Was their first time having Game events combining canon Lore, so it was a hard learning experience.
please react to more pentakill, im really excited to see your reactions to more league content and theres so much good stuff waiting 😳
I enjoyed the ruined king game a lot but just as a heads up, the game takes quite a long time to complete. So you probably will want to edit out a bunch because uploading everything is probably a bit too much for the average youtube audience attention span :D
First couple of episodes not so much as thats a lot about discovering the game and its interesting but later down the line there is a lot of leveling or smaller side quests you can probably leave out.
God, Vayne is such a terrible character to be put up as a hero/good guy type... they could not have picked worse if they tried.
The depths of why the Ruination event was disapointing don't really shine through in the things you can react. You can find some videos talking about it, though.
I hope you react to the pentakill concert its literally dooppe
I recommend playing the ruined king game, it's 100 times far much better than the sentinels of light event
Too bad Isolde didn't come to the game, a lot of people was hoping for her to be a new champ
