It actually can act as an alternative for the necromage vampire since the game does count you as undead and thus gives you the subsequent buffs afforded by the aforementioned combination. Its a million times more complicated, however if your really into role play and you really wanna be not a vampire but undead and get the buffs. It does work in my testing.

Not just from a roleplaying perspective either. You could revert vampirism to do the dawnguard quests without losing any potential necromage buffs.

Haha that's good! I will say the exploit technically requires you to be at or under level 15 since that's the level cap for the Scroll of Dead Thrall. Though Talvas has the necromage perk, so you could probably go up to level 18 if you disabled his magicka beforehand.
The amount of theory crafting is INSANE!!!! I love this setup, never would've thought that dead thrall could work on the player character. It's a shame the blue glow of zombies seems to disappear once you do the setup to escape the house :( What if you were to do the killmove on your follower instead of the nord corpse? Even if the dead thrall spell is interrupted, would you have enough time to read the Black Book? (though I guess it might give the same result as with the Nord)
I think it just works the same as with the thrall. They don't even die from it since the area transition cancels the animation. But the Nord was just easier to killmove consistently. I also wish it kept the blue glow. One thing I had happen was I would make zombie groans when out of stamina, but I haven't been able to reproduce it so I omitted it from the video.
This could be a really fun mod. Some kinda death alternative specifically for lich builds. So when you die you have a chance to resurrect in a weakened state until you take the time/resources to recover.
I've always loved the idea of becoming a Lich in an Elder Scrolls title. My most played character is a heavy necro dread lord kinda dude, absolute beast and super fun build. I wish your character permanently maintained the aura from being resurrected as well as the mindless groans.
So I tried it. I found it easier to collect a lot of scathecraws in Raven Rock instead of river betties. It seems that "dying" in apocrypha resets your undead behavior. Power attack yells return after some time, can't really pinpoint what resets it though. I did this with survival mode on as well, but it seemed like there's no additional effects. If only there would be a way to become undead without binding your soul to a follower...

You can also soultrap yourself and then, with the help of Falion, offer your soul to daedra in exchange for... ending the darkness of your soul and returning you to life.
So M’iaq was half right. There is a way to become a lich, it just doesn’t require a lich’s heart, dragon’s tongue, and the flesh of a well-ridden horse
I tried this ceremony twice, I found that you could actually soul trap your self too with the help of your follower. The dead thrall scroll can be exploited to give your self the casting effect permanently. Hold down to cast but not release, then pull up the inventory to eat a netch jelly. After recovering from paralysis sheath hands and the casting effect will stay on to give a necromantic effect. This also works with other scrolls such as scroll of fire storm to give a flame arms effect. Equip any other weapons and the effect will end. I try to find a way to preserve the effects even with weapons equipped.
Hi Sick, I noticed this small detail, when I was in third person view, before I gained total control over my character. I positioned myself in front of Lydia. The curser wasn’t there but when I activated her I heard this line in a sad tone “sorry, not now.” That’s when it hit me that my character really died because that’s not a line I hear the follower would say anywhere else in the game. A really fine detail of the game.
This is pretty wild, this definitely feels like it should be causing a million tiny differences in gameplay that are yet to be discovered. Does the game thinking you are already stay in the actual save file data, or does the glitch stop working when you reload any save?
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but if you delete the save that you most recently wrote or read from, the game will detect that the save file is "corrupt" and will fail to load it. Reloading another save will fix it though, since that save was interacted with more recently. This is why you have to reset the bug by making a new save and deleting it if you reload after failing to be resurrected.

I guess I'm saying after you've set everything up (at the point where you said the charge attack yell sound clip stops working) you are now in a state where the game is bugged slightly due to the set up right? I might be understanding that incorrectly. So at that point after the whole setup is done, does for example quicksaving/quickloading fix that yelling sound effect to function normally again or is the glitched state of the character preserved by making a save at the end of the setup?
Got a theory, Neloth's apprentice has the necromage perk, so potentially we could get him to raise us to see what happens there. (gl getting him to use the scroll tho, since he is a conjuration mage he would most likely try to summon his own stuff, id recommend a magica poison with both regen and points.)

Hey thanks. I actually came up with the concept for this about a year before the video. I wasn't able to figure it out for a while but I did run into dead loading which was a great reward on its own!
Some things not extrapolated in this video that may cause you problems and I highly suggest you read this all the way through because you might have to start all over if you run into this: 1. You have to load the quick save before deleting it. Otherwise your game will force reload hard save or rhe auto save when you entered the room 2. Ensure your follower is decently strong and resistant against atronoch. 2a. If they get downed then it might take a while and they might just stop fighting and therefore stop attempting to resurrect body and therefore you. I suggest either having a nord companion against a frost atronach or a dunmer against a flame atronach 2b. If they cant beat atronach while you're reviving, you could end up taking damage and die again, which is annoying since, in my experience, there was like a 1/20 chance that I wouldn't just immediately die for some reason after resurrecting. I suggest not using a storm atronach given the property if it's attack to bounce to you. The flame would be ideal since the frost has a staggering attack which can prolong your follower being able to cast that long charge up spell, but I did it with a nord and frost atronach. I don't have a fix for the instant dieing after resurrecting, just keep trying lol. 3. Ensure you do all this in 1st person camera. If you don't the netch jelly won't reset and correct your camera and you'll have to start all over 4. I didn't have time jump into the abyss after reading the black book, everything turned out fine even though I tried to lol.
Is it possible to give your follower a soul trap enchanted weapon and black soul gem and have him attack you before this process and then enchant something with it once you’re back from the dead so you have a horcrux?
Seems like nothing changes with your character themselves, really... but I wonder if anything in the rest of the world gets triggered or toggled by your death. Could it clear your bounty? Stop hired thugs from coming after you? Reset your reputation with people you've pissed off? I guess I'll have to try it
This is amazing 😂 I have many questions, and I'll have to test this out myself, but if you have tested some of these already... 1. You say being cured of vampirism removes the undead tag. Do you know if you have the undead tag from dying, or it's applied only when you turn into a vampire? 2. if it's applies from dying, does it double up the tag when you turn into a vampire? IE, would you get double bonus from necromage? 3. would becoming a vampire lord after the fact change/overwrite anything? It seems that becoming a vampire overwrites practically all the previous steps, though not everything (still die without a follower, camera and power attacking), which makes it seem more like a trophy than anything else I suppose. Don't get me wrong, still cool as hell. Have you done any further testing since?
The most I've done as far as further testing is play the game normally after performing the ritual. So far I haven't found anything out of place. You absolutely wouldn't get two Necromage buffs doing this though.
@@cullenkenny98 That can be achieved with the Bloodworm Helm from the Gallows Hall creation, and it's a useful tool. But doing it vanilla would also be sick.

I am kinda curious is it possible for a roleplay reason to be ressurected by your own dead thrall and not follower? Level up conjuration up to 100, get twin souls perk, summon atronach and raise your thrall(preferably spouse lol) and do the same stuff?
I've encountered the weird stuck 3rd person view angle before, albeit because of mods. Iirc it can be triggered if you initiate an animation that requires a menu to start (like FNIS idle animations or similar mods) but then very quickly choose another option in another menu while the previous animation is starting. Once that animation finishes you'll be stuck in the fixed camera angle. Unsure if this method is repeatable with vanilla Skyrim (not that it does anything worthwhile) tho I wouldn't be surprised if it was feasible with very specific requirements.
if there isnt too many significant changes in how the game operates you can still do the dual werewolf/vampire lors glitch right? would another method to break the state of being frozen potentially be hircines cursed ring? would anything change?
I tried to see if you can use this to keep the Skeleton key. My theory was that if you are dead then you can skip the script that removes the skeleton key and therefore you could keep it but the game doesn't care if you are dead or alive. It removes the skeleton key anyways.
I have to check if this works with necromage if you cure yourself of vampirism. at least just with the bloodworm helm since it has a necromage effect and because the quest to get it gives you 4 black soul gems that you will need. I will dub him mitch the lich. edit: it worked I am no longer a vampire and necromage still increases my enchantments. Edit 2: taking off the helm the bonus stayed
I wonder if you become flagged in some kind of way in-game after being resurrected by your follower? Since you become a vampire it might negate any of the resurrection effects but it's interesting nonetheless. In the same way you get flagged as undead and get affected by undead spells after becoming a vampire. But the window is too small between being raised and becoming a vampire, unless curing restores the raised dead status rather than your normal status.
So after testing, curing myself of vampirism after completing this glitch, the Chasing Echoes quest where you enter the Soul Cairn DOES NOT count you as Undead unfortunately. Now it had been awhile since I had completed this glitch, so MAYBE it MIGHT produce different results if done more recent to attempting. However, not only considering how long it took me to even complete the glitch, so I have no desire to reattempt anytime soon, but I did ensure that the game counted me as undead by way of the necromage perk still affecting my enchants and affects as if I were. I'm pretty sure the game just checks whether or not you are a vampire or not, which is unsurprising consideringI doubt the devs anticipated these means of becoming undead. I even did the volkihar path to see if the game might just assume you'd meet the prerequisites consider I'd assume that they'd assume one wouldn't take this path just to cure themselves of the very vampirism integral to that path and faction.
Can this setup be used to escape the “Your hands are bound” message? Like this: 1. Fast travel from Helgen using the quest location menu glitch to open the map 2. Contract vampirism with hands bound 3. On a separate save setup the death glitch - put the corpse in place, give your follower the scroll 4. Instead of having the black book and the netch jelly in the inventory - put them on ground 5. Spawn the atronach and command your follower to attack it 6. On the character with the hands bound - acquire a health drain effect that will surely kill you 7. Perform a load warp with the character from Helgen with bound hands to the Abandoned Building, die near the corpse and be resurrected
Where would you fast travel to? You wouldn't have any locations unlocked. Also, you couldn't dead load with your hands bound because you can't activate anything. Dead loading also doesn't maintain any data from the previous save. It just lets you activate something from far away.
If followers can use the scroll of dead thrall, does it mean that their thralls are also permanent? What if you give dead thralls scrolls of dead thrall? How deep does it go?
@@Sickliff While we're at it, I read that Mind Control spiders can affect Dead Thralls if they're cast on the body beforehand, allowing us to change their armor and make them behave more like followers, them equipping rings, necklaces, different armor, if it was placed on their body beforehand. It supposedly also makes them sneak when the player does. I could only find some old forum post describing this glitch, and no footage. I'm not able to test this myself currently, but, the possibilities, if this works, are truly mpressive. Imagine, someone thralling Grelod the Kind and then placing all kinds of ridiculous enchanted armor on her so she won't die in one hit. Permanent items won't stop her body from despawning if left alone, though. Ah, speaking of "permanent" and "persistent" items, that could also be something to look into. I'm sorry for this rather big comment, it turned into quite a bit of rambling. Perhaps you'll one day cover these things. Anyhow, keep up the great work.
Figured it out; for anyone who has this, you have to make sure you hotkey the jelly and consume it that way, instead of going into your menu and eating it.
That worked actually thank you. Having it in third person would free up the camera with the jelly but I couldn't look down at the thrall to resurrect her. Could only look side to side not up and down.
Thought this was funny, I got a note from a courier afterwards that thanked me for killing myself as it indirectly aided "Shadow". From the shadowrend AE quest
What happens if you cure your vampirism? Can you still have necromage perk affecting it? Also would you be able to become a warewolf? Would this allow you to have the undead tag and be a warewolf letting you use necromage as well? More testing required :)
Couldn't you accomplish this without duping the scroll? Why couldn't you kill a low health NPC like Meden Maren and use them for this exploit and use reanimate corpse when using the kill cam invulnerability frames?

So I actually did this by accident before Because I wanted to check what save it would drop to for deleting a quick save then a stray ice spike from a vampire killed me My companion attempted to raise a vampire thrall I was under and we'll y'all know the rest, gained movement via vampire, hit my trusty Nech jelly button I died as soon as I left the dungeon so I didn't know how to save myself though
The quick save delete thing ain't working on PS4
EDIT: Use a quick save and delete the hard save instead 👍
Or load the quicksave and make another quicksave.

If they cant beat atronach while you're reviving, you could end up taking damage and die again, which is annoying since, in my experience, there was like a 1/20 chance that I wouldn't just immediately die for some reason after resurrecting. I suggest not using a storm atronach given the property if it's attack to bounce to you. The flame would be ideal since the frost has a staggering attack which can prolong your follower being able to cast that long charge up spell, but I did it with a nord and frost atronach. I don't have a fix for the instant dieing after resurrecting, just keep trying lol.
3. Ensure you do all this in 1st person camera. If you don't the netch jelly won't reset and correct your camera and you'll have to start all over
4. I didn't have time jump into the abyss after reading the black book, everything turned out fine even though I tried to lol.
This is as needless as the boxes that turn them selves off on purpose, love it!

To all people that struggle getting the view point back after paralyze: you must add netch jelly to your favourite and use it from quick bar.

Someone actually did tell me that they managed to soul trap themselves with this, and it's awesome. Ethical source of black souls.
Seems like nothing changes with your character themselves, really... but I wonder if anything in the rest of the world gets triggered or toggled by your death. Could it clear your bounty? Stop hired thugs from coming after you? Reset your reputation with people you've pissed off? I guess I'll have to try it

I have many questions, and I'll have to test this out myself, but if you have tested some of these already...
1. You say being cured of vampirism removes the undead tag. Do you know if you have the undead tag from dying, or it's applied only when you turn into a vampire?
2. if it's applies from dying, does it double up the tag when you turn into a vampire? IE, would you get double bonus from necromage?
3. would becoming a vampire lord after the fact change/overwrite anything?
It seems that becoming a vampire overwrites practically all the previous steps, though not everything (still die without a follower, camera and power attacking), which makes it seem more like a trophy than anything else I suppose. Don't get me wrong, still cool as hell. Have you done any further testing since?
The most I've done as far as further testing is play the game normally after performing the ritual. So far I haven't found anything out of place. You absolutely wouldn't get two Necromage buffs doing this though.

I am kinda curious is it possible for a roleplay reason to be ressurected by your own dead thrall and not follower? Level up conjuration up to 100, get twin souls perk, summon atronach and raise your thrall(preferably spouse lol) and do the same stuff?
I've encountered the weird stuck 3rd person view angle before, albeit because of mods. Iirc it can be triggered if you initiate an animation that requires a menu to start (like FNIS idle animations or similar mods) but then very quickly choose another option in another menu while the previous animation is starting. Once that animation finishes you'll be stuck in the fixed camera angle. Unsure if this method is repeatable with vanilla Skyrim (not that it does anything worthwhile) tho I wouldn't be surprised if it was feasible with very specific requirements.
Just a hunch, azhidal's ring of necromancy. I don't know how it'd be useful, I just think there may be some crazy synergy to find

I don't see any reason why the hybrid bug wouldn't work. Hircine's Ring fix the freeze but I haven't tested it.
So today I was reminded that the Cursed Ring of Hircine doesn't work indoors. Since being raised outdoors crashes the game, that couldn't be used.

I tried to see if you can use this to keep the Skeleton key. My theory was that if you are dead then you can skip the script that removes the skeleton key and therefore you could keep it but the game doesn't care if you are dead or alive. It removes the skeleton key anyways.

I have to check if this works with necromage if you cure yourself of vampirism. at least just with the bloodworm helm since it has a necromage effect and because the quest to get it gives you 4 black soul gems that you will need. I will dub him mitch the lich.
edit: it worked I am no longer a vampire and necromage still increases my enchantments.
Edit 2: taking off the helm the bonus stayed
I wonder if you become flagged in some kind of way in-game after being resurrected by your follower? Since you become a vampire it might negate any of the resurrection effects but it's interesting nonetheless.
In the same way you get flagged as undead and get affected by undead spells after becoming a vampire. But the window is too small between being raised and becoming a vampire, unless curing restores the raised dead status rather than your normal status.
My guess is that the "vampire level up"(the one re enabling movement) resets some of the thrall states to vampire.

So after testing, curing myself of vampirism after completing this glitch, the Chasing Echoes quest where you enter the Soul Cairn DOES NOT count you as Undead unfortunately.
Now it had been awhile since I had completed this glitch, so MAYBE it MIGHT produce different results if done more recent to attempting. However, not only considering how long it took me to even complete the glitch, so I have no desire to reattempt anytime soon, but I did ensure that the game counted me as undead by way of the necromage perk still affecting my enchants and affects as if I were.
I'm pretty sure the game just checks whether or not you are a vampire or not, which is unsurprising consideringI doubt the devs anticipated these means of becoming undead. I even did the volkihar path to see if the game might just assume you'd meet the prerequisites consider I'd assume that they'd assume one wouldn't take this path just to cure themselves of the very vampirism integral to that path and faction.

Can this setup be used to escape the “Your hands are bound” message? Like this:
1. Fast travel from Helgen using the quest location menu glitch to open the map
2. Contract vampirism with hands bound
3. On a separate save setup the death glitch - put the corpse in place, give your follower the scroll
4. Instead of having the black book and the netch jelly in the inventory - put them on ground
5. Spawn the atronach and command your follower to attack it
6. On the character with the hands bound - acquire a health drain effect that will surely kill you
7. Perform a load warp with the character from Helgen with bound hands to the Abandoned Building, die near the corpse and be resurrected
Where would you fast travel to? You wouldn't have any locations unlocked. Also, you couldn't dead load with your hands bound because you can't activate anything. Dead loading also doesn't maintain any data from the previous save. It just lets you activate something from far away.

@@Sickliff While we're at it, I read that Mind Control spiders can affect Dead Thralls if they're cast on the body beforehand, allowing us to change their armor and make them behave more like followers, them equipping rings, necklaces, different armor, if it was placed on their body beforehand.
It supposedly also makes them sneak when the player does.
I could only find some old forum post describing this glitch, and no footage.
I'm not able to test this myself currently, but, the possibilities, if this works, are truly mpressive.
Imagine, someone thralling Grelod the Kind and then placing all kinds of ridiculous enchanted armor on her so she won't die in one hit.
Permanent items won't stop her body from despawning if left alone, though.
Ah, speaking of "permanent" and "persistent" items, that could also be something to look into.

Figured it out; for anyone who has this, you have to make sure you hotkey the jelly and consume it that way, instead of going into your menu and eating it.

That worked actually thank you. Having it in third person would free up the camera with the jelly but I couldn't look down at the thrall to resurrect her. Could only look side to side not up and down.

Couldn't you accomplish this without duping the scroll? Why couldn't you kill a low health NPC like Meden Maren and use them for this exploit and use reanimate corpse when using the kill cam invulnerability frames?

My companion attempted to raise a vampire thrall I was under and we'll y'all know the rest, gained movement via vampire, hit my trusty Nech jelly button
I died as soon as I left the dungeon so I didn't know how to save myself though
