    I have found that with these if you want to lay them down directly onto your paper, coloring book, etc, it works best when I scribble some color onto my Caran d'Ache palette(or other surface) and pick it up with a dry sponge or one of those tools with the handle and the soft brush, finger sponge, or something like that, and smear it onto the paper. Or do it like you showed and pick up color with your wet waterbrush and use it kinda like watercolor. It never looks good when I use the gel stick directly onto the paper because it leaves lines behind!

    I've been doing a lot of research on these the past few days it's amazing that you've posted a review of em, thank you so much. I've been looking at these as for back grounds in my coloring books, I've watched a lit of ladies apply them to a smooth surface then pick em up with a brush or sponge of some sort & apply it to the paper dry. I got the Memaids in Paradise coloring book recently & I just think these would work wonderfully from what ive seen for under water back grounds, I have the 36 ct of unque colors in my cart as we speak & wanted to do one last check on em before I purchase them as well as the cosmetics brush/sponge tool I see them being used with. I can't wait to see what you do with these. Thank you so much again for sharing your recent goodies with us, great timing! I hope you're doing well, Happy Coloring!

    I have the set of 72 and I just labeled the plastic trays they come in like Tray 1, Tray 2, etc. That's how I chose to keep them in order and find the color I want more easily

    I'm only up to swatch number 6 and just want to say - thank you so much for your videos and reviews! You're so easy and calming to listen to while I color (hope that doesn't sound weird 😅)
    I remember watching any and all videos I could find back when these came out and became all the rage (including yours I noticed! But I don't remember watching it! 😅) I have a 40 set of Neo II's now, but for some reason I still keep going back to videos of these... Maybe because I was so disappointed with the Creatology Silky Gel Crayons from Michael's (they refused to break down completely with water no matter what watercolor, mixed media, Bristol, etc paper I used 😔) Luckily they were cheap, but it's such a bummer when that happens! Anywho, I'm still watching and can't wait to see how these blend out on watercolor paper 😊 Much love!! 💞

      Awww thank you so much. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos. Pretty much any of the cheaper watercolor products won’t dissolves as well as the more expensive ones. There are just more fillers in the cheaper ones.

    I've been dying to get these myself - so glad to see you go through them. I might have to buy these bad boys.

      I have the set of 72 and I love them! They're not neocolor II lol but they get the job done! The only thing I don't like about them is they don't spread out enough when you activate with water. I just put the colors I want to use on the textured side of a Caran d'Ache board/palette and activate and lift the color off the palette with my water brush, and apply the color on the brush to my page. Because if you use the gel sticks on your page and then activate them with water, it leaves streaks where you applied it and it doesn't spread out evenly enough. Another way around this issue is just simply rubbing your water brush or wet paint brush onto the gel sticks and then apply the color to your page that way. I just wouldn't recommend coloring directly onto your page with the gel sticks.

    Do you find that they dry quickly?

    • @LisasColoringCorner
      @LisasColoringCorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean by dry quickly. Do you mean after you apply water to them on the paper?

    • @materialgirl338
      @materialgirl338 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When using them is only a few seconds before you blend them?

    • @materialgirl338
      @materialgirl338 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So when you use them and you mix with water how long before they dry? Can you blend them with your fingers?

    Love these so much Lisa, got a question about these and Water color in general.as you may know I only do color by number books, I was wondering if you could even do water color in a coloring book, and what would be the best paint set or water color tool for our color by number books. Thanks Lisa I’m advanced

      You can use watercolor mediums in coloring books but you have to watch the amount of water you use, especially on Amazon paper. I love using watercolor pencils like Inktense or Arteza watercolor pencils. You can also use watercolor real brush pens or any kind of watercolor crayons. Of course, there are also watercolor paint sets too.

      I would look into Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground that comes in 5 or 6 different colors brushed on the page first and use the watercolor/water based media afterwards. If you don't like the Daniel Smith watercolor ground, then look into gesso and brush that on the page first and use your watercolor/water based media afterwards.

    Have you used the other design ideation watercolor paper? It’s a few bucks cheaper is it the same or better?

    • @LisasColoringCorner
      @LisasColoringCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can’t seem to find any watercolor paper by them that is cheaper. At least none thin enough to go through a printer.

    Wonder if you prep your paper first with clear gesso or liquid satin

    • @LisasColoringCorner

      Yah I think that’s what I would do in the future. Thank you for the suggestion.

    I purchased similar gel sticks but they don’t dissolve completely in water. So it leaves the picture looking really streaky. Do these fully dissolve?

    • @LisasColoringCorner
      @LisasColoringCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They didn’t in the paper that I used. But you can scribble them on a non-porous surface and use a water brush to paint with them.

    If they dry you may have a problem? Purchased the Neo 2 and not doing too great with them. Seems like coloring books do not take kindly to water too much…. I want to see people using them in coloring books dry if that is at all possible….

    Nope I won’t be purchasing anymore gel sticks. If it leaves that grainy color behind it will destroy my pictures💔too bad they are so fun and pretty but I can’t risk it..what about the faber castle gelatos do they have that problem.

      If you the gel sticks without water and use a stiff short hair stencil to blend you will get stunning results in your coloring books. Here is a TH-cam tutorial by Art by Karen Valentine on how to use them. th-cam.com/video/Z-gKF29opcs/w-d-xo.html
