I didn’t know this movie existed a month ago, but I’m glad I was recommended this gem! Had to cut A LOT for copyright but let me know if you’d like some TH-cam shorts for unseen bits 🫶🏼
I’ve been a firefighter for the last 28 years. I currently serve as the Deputy Chief. Thank you for reacting to this movie, it’s one of my favorites! Check out Backdraft next!
I've been a firefighter for 14 years. There is really no way to describe this job. You never want anyone to get hurt or for people's houses and livelihood to burn, but you have trained and dedicated your life to doing this job... You want to go do it. You're absolutely right, it looks fun and in so many ways it is. You go from 0-100 in a split second. Jump into your gear, jump on the rig and you're flying down the road towards an emergency. There's nothing like it. But there's a lot of bad too. There's the things you see, the times you lose... But at the end of the day it's the best job in the world. Joaquin Phoenix actually went through firefighter academy for this role so he understood the role better than any other firefighter movie. It's pretty accurate. Even the culture and jokes around the station.
Thank you Liala for sharing your heartfelt reaction. Some of the scenes with the rope rescue and at the end where Jack falls through the many floors below in the end, are loosely based on real events that have occurred in the fire service. I remember I was an emotional wreck when I first seen this movie with my family, especially as a current firefighter going on 44 years. This movie, every time I watch it, brings all the emotions back up to the surface with everything I have been involved with as a firefighter. Than you Liala, for your admiration of all firefighters. A firefighter is a calling where you will not hesitate to save a persons life and if necessary, pay the ultimate supreme sacrifice.👨🚒🚒
Yes, there's Backdraft. A highly deserved recommended film. But Ladder 49 is a rarely seen and undervalued never reacted to fond film! And I admire the smart approach to simply trust the film's process! 👍 🚒
My wife watched this with me and refuses to ever watch it again. I was both a federal firefighter and a volunteer for years. She absolutely hated the idea of me in any of these situations.
Hi Liala , It's always great to see my fav person on TH-cam And you always make your hair so amazing❤ Had a great time watching your reaction to this and I felt your Emotions😢🥰 Movie was very intense. Also Venom 3 is getting close to being on digital can wait to see your reaction to the movie soon. See you again soon Liala !! :)
Great reaction Liala this great firefighter drama movie and was also my own mother's favorite. if you're interested, feel free to check out the excellent emmy-nominated 'Chicago Fire' (it's a great entertaining TV series all about the daily lives, daring rescues, personal struggles and triumphs of the men & women who work at Chicago firehouse 51). And it got renewed for a 13th season airing on NBC now (and a possible season 14 is in the works). Plus that show also has multiple crossovers with the Chicago PD, Chicago Med, FBI and the Law & Order series.

Liala, if you haven't seen it, another great firefighter movie that you could react to is Backdraft, starring Kurt Russell.

Great film, but Backdraft is considered the best firefighter film.

You should watch the firefighter movie "Only the Brave". Based on a true story of the hotshot wildfire firefighter crew.
