As a manga reader, I'd been expecting this episode and still managed to shed a few tears anyway 😭 Tenza is actually a fan favorite and was ranked 5 and 7 in the popularity polls despite this incident happening pretty early in the story. The parts of the flashbacks about Shion's former student and visiting the grave are actually from a side story in the first novel spinoff. Another part of the story I wished made it into the anime was a scene during the first night after they made it back to the beach, where Nurugai has nightmares about her village while trying to sleep and Tenza notices this. He comforts her in her sleep by holding her hand and whispering to her, "It's okay, we're all here," until she sleeps calmly. It's really touching. Tenza overall is just such a great guy which makes his death even more tragic. Super excited to see Shion from now on though!! He's a fantastic character.

Man poor guy.....he even saw a future with her as a married couple....so sad he died but at least he died fighting to give his loved ones a chance!!
