There’s a difference between needing to evacuate because you live there and your house could be destroyed with you in it, and a weather man doing a job and has a way out if needed

I'm at Advent Health Hospital in Tampa, and I was looking out of the window on the 5th floor and it was crazy outside at 1a.m. I've been living in Tampa for nearly 20yrs and this is my first hurricane. It's like a movie out there. Prayers for everyone out there that stayed in thier homes 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Reporters that stand in such dangerous weather are some of the people that deserve way more respect than they get in my opinion. You couldn’t pay me to stand in a storm like that for 1 minute, let alone for an entire news segment.

This situation sucks and isn't funny at all, but this gave me a good chuckle.
Many people in the comments seem to believe that these reporters are risking their lives, and I agree with that, but here's a thing they are always standing near the apartment buildings, which are made with the help of concrete unlike solo homes which are made out of wood.

My sister's house is flooding in Seffner. Also no power. Hybrid car is already up to the bottom of the hubcaps as well. Rain continues with no end in sight for another day or two. It was about a foot per hour, for a while. I don't know how hard it is raining now. She's not alone. There are LOTS of people being flooded with this rain.

Keep in mind that in cases like these, power companies as a measure of safety cut power off purposely to prevent the expected fallen power lines to be live, though their customers would have lost power anyway. Thus way repairs can start as soon as the storm passes. Be safe.
When the rebuilding begins, why not bury the phone lines and power cables underground. It won't help today but would help when future storms come through
Saw an interview with someone from one of the hard-hit areas who said that they'd buried water mains 25' underground & they were still destroyed.

I lived in Va when hurricane Isabelle hit What a f mess 65 mile per hour winds deep in Va near Charlottesville .Our family had only 3 trees down and my fathers home never lost power boy God is very good for us I pray for all who have been thru all these hurricanes

Over a century? I was there in 2005 and there were 5 hurricanes. They were saying the same thing back then. "We havent seen such powerful hurricane. Last one like it happed over a 100 years ago"

Although driving isnt advisable in these conditions and that can make reaching shelter difficult or impposible, the (free) shelter is there so no one should have been given the impression that they had no where to go.
You'd think a broadcast network could put a windshield wiper on the weather cam glass.
