The Battle for Australia Far North Queensland at War

This documentary was produced with a grant form the Department of Veteran Affairs. It was launched at the Cairns RSL Sub Branch 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Pacific Gala Dinner on the 15th August 2020. This documentary outlines the Far Norths contribution to the Second World War and the memory of our local residents who live in Cairns and surrounding areas, more specifically, what the area use to look like and what it was like growing up during the war and the feeling that came over the town when it was announced that the war was over.
This documentary has been produced in a child friendly manner so as to allow our schools to use this during their curriculum and show them some local history.
The 75th Anniversary Commemorative Dinner was a way of giving rise to this significant milestone in Australian History, as we stop, reflect, and give thanks to all who have demonstrated bravery and courage in defending our nation and providing our way of life today.
