I went to my local hospice thrift store yesterday to donate a lot of clothes and toys that 1:53 my little one had outgrown. Needed a lamp and grabbed a pretty glass one for 5 bucks. Almost dropped it while putting it into my van when I saw the Waterford crystal sticker on it. Google search showed my lamp is over $150 online. I have it on my nightstand, and it's such a beautiful blessing to turn it on and unwind each night while reading.
I make purses at home on an industrial machines. I go and find the ugliest purse and get it. I tear it apart and save all the hardware and reuse it on my creations! Saves me a lot of money! Im 69 and need all the savins i can find. Young lady, I am in love with your precious boys. Respectful, grateful, and understanding. Our country is so lacking in that. GIVE EM AL A HUG FOR ME!!! LOVE wat you were able to purchase! WTG!!! 💜💜💜
A few months ago, I picked up a Kitchen Aid hand mixer in lime green (my sister's favourite colour) that looked like it had never been used. It was priced at $10.00 CDN, but as it was Senior's Day, I got it for $7.50 CDN. In stores, they're $89.00 CDN! She was thrilled!
😮 lucky, lucky. That’s on my list. I did find a brand new pasta maker at a thrift store, still in the box, marked $10 and with veteran discount it was $7.50. Score! Only went in for a cotton nightgown, lol. Found that too. 😉
Just yesterday I found a wishlist item for my mom at a thrift store! And all my favorite clothing items just about are secondhand! There’s nothing better than finding something special at a great price.
Awesome haul, Bestie! You are THE super saver. Thank you for reminding us all how we can be better stewards of our money, Brooke. I love you and your big heart. Be blessed always, my Southerland Squad! xoxo
Hi Brooke, you are so smart when it comes to saving money on food and household items. You and Dusty are a really good team and your sons are real gems, outstanding young men. I am rooting for you and I know you will do well in all your ventures. Sending loving tboughts your way. Debbie T. ❤❤❤❤
To get my kids into thrifting, I would take them & let them get any clothes they wanted at the thrift store. This encouraged them to look through all the clothes. It never cost me more than I could afford even on a tight budget, and now they are adults who know how to save money. Goodwill has gotten ridiculous too.
Glad ya'll are ok. We got hit really hard here in SC, no power for 3 days as of now, but we're safe. I love your channel and how you keep everything down to earth & southern real!
My favorite day is Thursday when our local Resue Mission Thrift Store reduces one color tag to 99 Cents. I find things that still have store tags brand new. Only bad thing is my closet is now full. LOL
I prefer the DAV (disabled American veterans) or Salvation Army. Both have better pricing AND actually help the community. Goodwill’s CEO makes a typical CEO salary. Millions. 🤦♀️🤯
@@DianeWeikle none of the large pop up consignment sales around me do. Most of them are in borrowed spaces for a couple days sale and volunteers work it so they don’t have buggies or carts available. You are supposed to bring your own and I of course always forget! 😂😂
Those are great prices for your son's fall & winter clothes. You got a heck of a clothing haul + the art supply set & used dvds for the money, Brooke. Well done! That huge consignment store seems neverending. I've never seen one that big in MI. My favorite go to thrift store is Salvation Army. I have 3 nearby & can get to any of them in about 15 - 20 minutes. I buy a ton of clothes, jackets, shoes (including brand name new shoes), purses, household items & decor, books, toys, gift bags & wrapping paper (new)and occasionally a brand new item that I buy for gift giving. I love buying second hand. If I don't buy second hand, then I mostly buy clearance, outlet stores, or stuff from Costco & BJs. Most of the clothes I buy my kids are well under $20 or less & that is for adult sizes (they are teenagers). I refuse to spend crazy, high prices on clothes they only wear for 1 year because they are still growing. Gotta save our money anyway we can.
raising 3 kids they ever had but 5 pairs on pants and I always made sure they 2 pair and 4 shirts for just like holidays or Church. Same thing fr my daughter but I let her have a few more dresses she like to dress uo more fr school. lol
Loved this so much - I have shopped thrift stores my entire life raised all my children on thrift store/ garage sale & estate sales - even decorated my entire house this way - You are correct about some second hand thrift stores are definitely raises their prices - so ridiculous Anyway I also heard your husband mention the ‘Mandela effect berenstain bears ‘ & I smiled as I have spent quite a bit of time looking at all the different Mandela effects - so crazy our world is so crazy. - happy you found good deals - love you Joyce
I love thrifting. It was a survival tactic during my childhood and when my children were young. However families are now in competition with resellers for items. Prices are high because people are not thrifting for their families but to resell items.
I fond you channel a few months ago,we love thrifting, yard sales/garage sales and we have a Goodwill here and they are expensive, since i became paralyzed chest down 19 1/2 yrs. ago i don't get out much,i love your channel.🌻🍁🍂
Hi, I just want to let you know that I'm a huge viewer to your channel. I have been doing so many of the things that you share, from living on a tight budget,to learning how to cook. I have 2 picky kids when it comes to eating . I'm disabled,so living on a budget is a must right now. I've been watching your channel for about 7 months now and I'm also a subscriber as well. I've commented on a few episodes, about how similar I had it growing up and threw what we had in the refrigerator together to make a meal. But due to inflation I'm finding it harder and harder to budget money and watching your channel has been a huge help!! You have a wonderful family, and May God bless you and your family. And a HUGE Thank you for sharing budget friendly dinner options,it REALLY means a lot to many struggling Americans, who are living on fixed incomes and cutting corners to make ends meet. Our family LOVES all of your family friendly content. It's great to see someone who ain't embarrassed to let others know it's not shameful to spend wisely. You don't have to be super RICH to enjoy a hot meal that feeds your entire family.THANK YOU😊 Also, I saw in one of your episodes you drain grease with paper towels and I immediately laughed, because I been doing that for as long as I can remember 😂, and my kids would always comment why I did that, and I was like "YES" someone else does this too!! I Loved seeing it. Keep up the good work Brooke. I got about 15 friends to watch you and your family, and they LOVED your channel as well.Keep up the good work, and keep coming up with, and sharing more creative ideas to many more struggling families just trying to get by. And as always, food should be a human right , be kind and latter matters❤️
Good deal on all of the items!! My family has been shopping used items since I was a child, I'm 69. Back then it was mostly church rummage sales, which is still an excellent place to find good deals! But also yard sales, thrift sales, garage sales, whatever they are called in your area, are especially good for kids clothes. We used to pile the family in the station wagon (before SUVs) and go to garage sales. The kids liked to look at the toys, Dad looked at tools and the Mom looked at kids clothes. Now there are Thrift stores, consignment stores but church rummage sales are still a good deal on kids clothes!
Thrift stores, consignment sales, second-hand resale shops....such good places to find the deals! You bring up a good point about knowing the original price for something - there's no reason to pay above the original retail price unless it's some sort of collector's item. Great finds!
Up to 6th grade we grew up on clothes from yard sales. Every Sunday my mom would pack us in the car and drive around looking for yard sales. Miss you mom!
My best find ever was a few weeks ago. I found a vintage black Calvin Klein motorcycle jacket complete with shoulder pads. In excellent condition for 8 dollars. ❤. I love finding vintage rock band t shirts. But ya. Thrifting has become super cool now. I’ve done it for years
I used to looove the traveling consignment stores for my stepsons. They’re all grown now! I used to find so many nice things from Gap, Gymboree, LL Bean, Merrell boots. That was a fun time in my life!
I actually love thrifting. Always have. Been on the hunt in the last few years since I started off grid camping for old manual kitchen gadgets. I think I finally have them all including antique manual beaters for mixing. If the grid goes down I can still cook, 😉. At least enough to get by.
I am glad you said you check for quality. As my son was growing, I went thrift shopping to get him jeans & refused to pay $7 for jeans that looked like they were already worn out. In our little town in Pennsylvania, there was a store called "Roses.". They sold men's brand new "Wrangler" jeans for $10/pair.
We have a church thrift store by us that runs 5 dollar bag sales. Truly a blessing, I get all my clothes there, plus a few new trinkets to enjoy. Average price per item usually comes out to 50 cents or less. Lots of fun and saving money!
My daughter taught herself how to read on the Mulan DVD it’s got a very special place in our hearts. They tried everything at school finally pulled her in first grade after I found her with headphones on faced it to a post trying to teach herself. Needless to say I went ballistic. We’ve been knocking down doors since she’s just finished her AA so very proud of her ❤
Great finds! We always shopped thrift stores when our kids were young. Prices have really increased at these stores. Occasionally you can still find great buys.
That was so much fun to see your haul. Your children are truly blessed. I've never had 15 pair of pants at the same time in my life and I am way old & doing well in life. Great eye, Brooke! Thanks for sharing. ❤
My favorite thrift stores are the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). We have several in my area. My best score recently was a brand new, in the box with instructions, pasta machine. It was marked $10 but with a veteran discount, I got it for $8! I LOVE thrifting. I’ve been mostly looking for cast iron pieces and manual kitchen gadgets. This last hurricane was a reminder to not give up on the manual items because you just never know what Mother Nature has in store. My fave manual item I found was an antique manual beater. Still works great. I got it for $2. Love to everyone!
I totally admire you because you just don’t say it, you do it! Love it, thanks for sharing. We go to the good will, which I call GW almost everyday & we love it!
I very rarely buy clothes anywhere else than thrift stores at all these days, but some of my best finds have been used small appliances (like waffle irons, sandwich maker, things like that for around $3 - $6) or bundles of yarn for around $6 (but $3 on half price Saturdays at Goodwill) or like new condition athletic shoes for less than $10. I love the thrill of the hunt! You never know what you'll be able to pick up for a fraction of what it costs new.
😊thrifting is a good thing. If I can get the size & sturdy quality, it's worth paying more than from crap wally world. Ps. Mens wally world t-shirts seem better quality than womens.
Wow good deals. To bad the other 2 didn't get anything this time. Maybe next time. Glad to see you are in good spirits. Sure hope everything works out and no more flooding. Missed the news to night so I'll have to wait until tomorrow for an up date❤❤❤😊😊😊
Love our little local thrift stores. One has all kids books for free and another has kids chapter books for 15 cents. We found great deals on clothes as well.
When my kids were little, we would always buy their clothes from the thrift store. They grow out of them so fast! We saved a TON of money buying their stuff this way and they do it for their kids today! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!!
All of the clothes for Kylen are awesome. That Columbia jacket is super cool. What a deal. All the jeans and pants are really nice, especially that yellowish colored pair. You really got some great things.
Also, I stopped going to my goodwill, because prices are RIDICULOUS now…😢 I have to find some other thrift stores, but here it’s like that’s all we got. Goodwill. 😒
We have a pop-up consignment called Just Between Friends over in Dallas/Fort Worth TX. I LOVE going on their half off day to really rack up on clothes for the kiddos. 🤩
For sure, I have been fortunate to have a thrift store that only charges 1 for clothing on Saturdays been able to buy a lot for my granddaughter, only a little for my grandson he's in man sizes at 15😊
My daughter is now 17 and I have been shopping and selling at consignment since she was 2. We buy 90% of our clothing second hand then once we are finished with it, I consign it. My son is not n hard on his clothes, so I consign his as well. We only have a goodwill and one other second-hand store in my area. Goodwill is pricey, but still cheaper then if I buy it new. I love when I score name brands.

Is anyone else noticed that the thrift stores have an increase in customers. Here, if you don’t get it when you see it, it will be gone.
Definitely!
God’s Helping Hands has been difficult to find parking spaces since July. Plus they had to double the price for the clothes.
Yes thrift stores are packed here in VA
Definitely! They are always crowded anymore

Love you and your family praying for your safety. Love your shows ❤
Awesome job 👏 momma
Crazy they don't have carts. People would probably buy more if they did. You did great shopping!
