  • In this in-depth video, we dive into the heart of music production by comparing two methods for tracking synths and electronic drums: the cutting-edge Louder Than Liftoff Silver Bullet MKII and the traditional direct mixer input. Our goal is to showcase the differences, advantages, and potential applications of each approach to help you make informed decisions for your studio setup.
We start with a brief introduction to the LTL Silver Bullet MKII inputs and outputs, highlighting its design, features, and why it's considered a revolutionary tool for mixing and tracking with it's input/output matrix. We'll explore its unique sound-shaping capabilities, including its analog warmth, saturation, and flexibility that stand out in digital music production environments.
The core of the video features a side-by-side comparison of the LTL Silver Bullet MKII and direct mixer inputs for tracking synths. We'll conduct real-time demonstrations with a variety of synths to showcase how each method captures the essence of the synth sounds. You'll hear comparative samples that highlight the tonal differences, signal clarity, and the impact on the final mix.
We aim to provide you with valuable insights that empower you to choose the best tracking method for your musical projects, based on your unique preferences and production needs.

Would you say this method eliminates the need for a summing mixer in the mix stage?

I ve personally never had results with summing mixers That were worth the massive hassle. But I know people that swear by them... I think the SB Cann add the Mojo and saturation that mixers are loved for... In spades!

I totally agree and from there you can do digital summing since the color would have already been added prior.

Do you know if you can plug unbalanced synths directly into the track or mix inputs? Thanks

You can always do that but you lose the advantages of balanced signals you would need a mono jack to XLR cable where the top goes to XLR Pin 2 and the Ring to Lin 1. Pin 3 needs to go to ground. If you look it up you will find wiring diagrams online. There s plenty of gain on tap that s for sure…
