    Round 1 of trying out determining if it's a 3/4 .. 1/2 .. 1/4 ... super thin hit and then using the appropriate "shaft line" aimed at the contact point. Worked good for me up to about 3 diamonds distance object ball to cue ball. And the super close shots like 3 balls or less it's a little different.
    What I came away with it though, is a better "understanding" why I believe Shane uses either center ball or outside edge to aim a part of his shaft at vs an actual contact point. The "effect" I believe is the same. You still have to learn and remember "this part of the shaft to that part of the object ball" with the cue ball essentially between your stick and the object ball (since you are mostly shooting center cue ball).
    Seeing center or edge of the object ball takes no guessing at all. So, Wednesday I'll be back at it and see how long it takes me to "calibrate" my eye to angles made using the shaft lines aimed at center ball or edge on the object ball.
    One note.... from 1/2 diamond to 3 diamonds, the contact point to shaft line you're using is deadly accurate.

    This system works great until you decide you need to put 3 tips of left or right spin on the cue ball to get position for the next shot. I mostly try to visualize the path of the full width of the cue ball, and compensate my aiming point when using side spin.

  • @jimstevens2889
    @jimstevens2889 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And.... the Jury returns a VERDICT!
    After giving it a hard core effort to do the "align to CENTER or EDGE of the OBJECT BALL" and aim the portion of the cue tip the system says it should be to make the ball.... for me it was just NOT consistent enough when you get out to angles beyond about 50 degrees.
    And when it comes to needing VERY precise aim to cheat a pocket or miss a ball that's tight to the shot, again. Too "vague" for me. YES. If I wanted to spend the time to calibrate my eye to "center" or "edge" and learn what part of the tip does what.... I could.
    But when I went 'back" to seeing the ACTUAL CONTACT POINT (ala the video here) and picking the appropriate "slice" (section or part) of the cue tip as the aim point to align the shot ... presto! All that "uncertainty" about the shot went away.
    I still have some shots to finish dialing in. When the object ball is 2 or more diamonds left or right from the pocket and the cue ball is 2 or more diamonds away from the object ball "up table" .. so long cut shots ... still dialing those in better. TIP: Being TOTALLY STILL during the Stroke plays a huge role. If my bridge hand wiggles or my head lifts or my butt sways or ... any body movement at all on these shots ... aiming is my last issue then.
    The secret that solves all those issues? Get great at cue ball control so I leave myself all easy shots!

    Can i get your honest answer and opinion please? Great video by the way if i could learn to see these fraction on my cue stick i believe this system works for close cut shots excellent but long shots in assuming ghost ball right and still using this fraction aiming on the cue stick will work probably very well id imagine?
    Anyways the real question i have is i wanns purchase a table by the end of the year. Im moving to Chattanooga tn and i wanna support local businesses and what do you know olhausen are made in Tennessee supposedly lol. Why question for you is olhausen a good table? Everyone prefers these diamonds 💎 but are they really worth the money 💰 or you just paying for the name? I feel all the reviewers ive asked all say diamond and are biased towards them for the simple fact thats what they play on so it makes sense for them to practice on them so they automatically just say diamonds are better. But how are they better and more superior? Because one point brunswick was superior and tournaments choice of table then it was olhausen now its diamonds they use for tournaments. Ive done extensive research on pool tables and here's what i found out all major pool manufacturers are sourcing there parts from china, all use 1" three piece slate usually for superior leveling, all use simonis 760 cloth or whatever, all use k55-k66 rubber bumpers all use hard wood throughout the table to help support the weight of the heavy slate and all have there own leveling systems but ultimately leveled is leveled so basically they are mainly assembled with the same parts so why is diamonds really almost 8k for a 9ft table.. you can make any table play smaller pockets like diamonds so what are you really paying for quality control to inspect the table 100x they have shitty warranty on them as well diamonds do.. if i spend almost 10k on a table i better get lifetime warranty seriously atleast 10yr warranty..

    • @BangTimePool
      @BangTimePool  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never heard anything bad about Olhausen!! It truly is a different beast playing on a Diamond. The pocket shelves are real deep--easy to hang a ball in the pocket. You can get a professional to get your table "Diamond like"--it will be close!

      @@BangTimePool it's been way back when you had just put this post up and I commented a couple of times and you replied. But not seeing them here now. It's all good.
      It occurred to me so I'm going to try this tomorrow, to look at the cut. 3/4 ball ball hit (almost straight in)? Then I'll use up to 1/4 shaft line (per your visual aid). 1/2 ball hit? 1/2 shaft line. 1/4 ball hit? 3/4 shaft line.
      Took me a bit to "get it" how you can do the shaft "off-set" and still hit CENTER cue ball.
      Now I get it. Get down on the shot. Get center ball. THEN look at the contact point and do an "in-place-pivot" or "shift" to line up the correct "shaft line" and.... AND ... make the cue tip BE CENTER BALL. It doesn't take much to make that adjustment.
      If you ALSO want to add "english' .. do that like you would anyway. parallel shift, backhand english, whatever. AFTER you have set your aiming all up, like normal.
      Okay! Back at it. Gonna have fun with this tomorrow. Good on ya for still positing pool!

    I think this is giving your outside running English that is needed to pocket balls without having to calculate as much. If you can shoot all your shots at a consistent speed I see this working well with little compensation. I'm more of a ghost ball to get my shot lines and preshow routine. then contact points for the fine tuning then always adding extra outside gearing to get a friction free hit on the contact point. Or TOI to squirt the cue ball the extra cut necessary to pocket balls. I find a few practice stokes in the air which go into a follow though action help. most people only practice the backstroke. If you do a few follow is help to cock the wrist a little and for me anyway i steer less. Of course before I do all this i have thought where the cue ball will travel after contact and how much speed and spin it will take to get it there. Any sidespin on a shot is a small masse to depending on the speed of the shot all that has to be made to be as automatic as possible.

    • @BangTimePool

      If you are hitting cue ball center ball... you then aim on the object ball using you shaft and the contact point according to the angle of the shot at hand. I hope this helps you!!
