My hometown, born there 1969. What a fabulous and well put together video. Wonderful story and fair play to you for purchasing the house and keeping it in the family. The film footage had my head in a spin! Good luck to you and your family.
HI What a sad and also lovely story i am from Claremorris and i know the house well i was looking at it a while back to buy it from Brendan French on Daft,ie but didn't for some reason , i am glad now Hop to see some of the family there in the Future all the best ,,,
Excellent narration and production quality. I attended secondary school (1969 - 1974) in the building shown on the upper left at 0:30 in your video. I often heard the name Son Conlon, but I can't recall meeting him. I am sure you will continue to enjoy your visits to Claremorris as it is a nice town with a good community spirit.
Those home movie clips are priceless, the letter from the hospital is very sad , children having to leave their home to emigrate is very sad , however it's wonderful that the Pickings kept in touch and eventually took vacations in Claremorris. I know some people in the town of Claremorris and I'm sure you will be very welcome by the community. It's a wonderful story and will have many more chapters. Best wishes 👏👏👏☘️
My mother played cards with Maureen for years. I used to drop her to the house for a lift to the card game as she didn't drive. I remember Son but I didn't really know him. Looking at some of the old video of Claremorris is interesting. I recognise some of the buildings and some must have been gone before I grew up.
Wow beautiful video...thank you for sharing this.
Excellent story with a happy ending, and a great piece of history. Thanks for sharing this.
