So is it something like this?
Top of your hitbox got slightly tapped by the geometry and sent you flying 1 pixel downwards at 100mph, but then you hit a slope and rode the physics wave.

I had this once as a Scout trying to get the ceiling mineral and there was an upside down slope behind me sending me plummeting down at mach speeds.
