    I put the long Nagoya NA-771G 15.3-Inch Whip GMRS antenna in my Amazon cart until I can get this question answered-and this is probably a silly question by a newbie, but here goes: Should I be concerned that the antenna mast only says “462 MHz” and not “462 MHz - 467 MHz?” Thanks for any help! If this is the right antenna, I plan to put it on my newly purchased BTech GMRS Pro. Thanks!

      It wont matter the one labeled 462 is GMRS on the 70 cm band. You may find one that "says" 462 to 467 but they wont be any different. Not a silly question I can see where this may be confusing. Thanks for the comment.

    So I recently purchased a DB 20 - G GMRS 20 Watt radio what would you recommend for an antenna and could I hang it in my attic? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.

      Set this upright not upside down in your attic we have one set up at a friends house works pretty good. Outside is always better though. antenna- amzn.to/4gnuGVW ground plane amzn.to/3PYmfFV and use the shortest amount of coax as possible this is just some cheap amazon coax but it works pretty good amzn.to/3Eh8DD3

      @@citizensurvivalplan one quick question install it in the attic just like you normally would outside on your roof, correct I was gonna hang it from the rafter with some para cord or I could set up a wooden dowel and clamp it to that like you would on a roof I didn’t understand the part about upside down why would a person even do that as you can tell I’m fairly new at this and they’re probably dumb questions and I apologize for that but I’m just curious thank you again

    I'm new to the hobby, and still learning. I'm Currently monitoring with the Midland GXT mobile and rtl-sdr. I was wondering how well the 100ft of rg8X and my Tram-1411 discone scanner antenna I have @ 20ft would pair with the AnyTone AT-778UV mobile I plan on ordering from Amazon soon. Do you think this would have decent range for a beginner's base setup?

    I have the Nagoya 701G and it is crap compared to the regular Nagoya 701 for ham bands. The standing wave on the GMRS version was over 4 to 1 but the ham version was 1.7 to 1. I now use my 701G as a scanner antenna.

      Because it's tuned specifically for GMRS; not the ham bands.

    Interesting note about the high gain antenna. So were you using a 5/8 wave and changed to a 1/4 wave? Must be the higher pattern of the 1/4 wave

    Do gain and watts how do they work together?

    • @rileydj8764
      @rileydj8764 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Gain is a multiplier. Radio puts out say 10 watts, and antenna has a gain of 1.5. You’re effectively get 15 watts at antenna.

    ham radio antenna towers 200 feet high are 100% legal pending airports etc. a crash safety thing.
    i can not afford s tower but living in a hole shadowed by mountains and hills. very hard for me to “get out” no matter the freq used.
    receiving tv is a joke. no cable so no tv or web access.
    but yes a good antenna will make a so-so radio much better.
