When I first saw online videos of this ride several years ago I couldn’t believe how intense they looked. Especially ones that totally inverted, like in Europe, but perhaps this was actually a Remix in disguise. I have never ridden one, but could probably do the more family-friendly ones.
I’ve rode them all. Really fun rides! The remix is definitely more fun. I actually rode one last week. But my favorite is the xtacy it fully inverts. That’s a super intense ride and has caused people to lose consciousness 😂😂
Yey...was hoping you'd cover the Orbiter. Quite common in the UK. Was a regular on our travelling fair circuit from early 1980s. Just like nothing else I'd ever seen..was just old enough to ride and loved it.
SOOO incredibly glad this series is back! Its one of those types of videos I click on immediately when it pops up. If you want your videos to sound better, a pop filter on your microphone might help, I suspect you don't have one based on some of the audio pops.
For so many years I was scared to go on a Super Orbiter, but then finally at the Puyallup Fair in WA about 20 years ago I finally rode one with a friend at the time, and it was quite intense. I'm glad I didn't have anything to eat beforehand, ho ho ho.
Flat Ride Friday!!! So excited this is back! Orbiters were the first "big kid" ride I went on, and they hold a dear place in my heart, even though I got sick after hahahaha
I love your channel. I’m an 80s baby and love rides and riding them. I was wanting to ride the biggest and baddest rides before I was tall enough to get on them. My first thrill ride at 6 years old was an enterprise. Nothing scares me. I build models of them and have a huge carnival. I wouldn’t say this was the beginning of thrill rides. We had plenty before in the 60s and prior. My favorite ride ever by chance “skydiver” has been around in the 60s also the zipper. Loop o plane, fly o plane, spitfire, turbo, so many goodies! The older rides are so much better and each one had its own personality. Todays ne’er rides are all looking the same. 😩
:o So I went to a local travelling fair the other day - two of the rides I went on I'd never heard of before. Went home wondering if you'd done a flat ride of the week on either of them! Thanks for helping me fill out a couple columns on my credit spreadsheet haha
Oh my GHOSTS!! This is my favorite flat ride! The ride company who comes to our county fair has one. Haven't been on one in years. I should go this summer. (Though, I'll have to figure something out with my service dog...)
I've never ridden an Orbiter, but I've ridden a Remix at a local Swedish fair last summer, and that really was an intense experience! If nothing else, the inversions really cought me off guard, since I didn't know it could invert!
my homepark (PNE/Playland in Vancouver, BC, Canada) used to have an Orbiter come to the PNE Fair that was brought by West Coast Amusements, they punished you on it, the average ride time was around 4 minutes at full speed, it was such an awesome ride but definitely something not to ride after eaten or drank anything as it would make you throw up.
My first memory of this is the one at BG ... I thought it was called "Tri-Star", but I could be mistaken. I was stunned to find one of these at Sesame Place, though the very slow paced tempered that surprise. Many carnivals have these, and IMO they're always a welcome attraction.
I remember the first time I rode one in the early 90s, that one was called the Typhoon. It was the same ride under a different name. It traveled with Butler Amusements. I remember that time one of my friends and I almost got kicked off of it for putting our feet out over the edge of the ride vehicle. I remember it being really intense to me at the time. After riding Gravitron, Flying Bobs and then this, we needed a break.
Oh I have ridden several Orbiters including the Remix and Techno Power. I’ve also ridden the Soriani & Moser Extasy which was a very extreme version of an Orbiter.
I love orbiters, I've been on Strates Show and The Flying Machine at BGW. The one at my county fair was much more intense than the Flying machine, also loading and unloading takes so long because the ride op has to manually lock and unlock all the restraints with a key, which I'm surprised that it's not hydraulically locked like some Huss rides are.
Actually Flying Machine originally operated with a much more intense ride cycle but as years have gone on, maintaining the ride has gotten much harder and more expensive, so the cycle has been toned down.
One of the showmen at the Iowa State Fair used to have an energy storm. Which was similar to the orbiter except the sweeps could go a full 180 degrees. Unfortunately he was cited for not taking care of his rides and was banned and the new showman has uses a remix. The remix is quite thrilling but as a larger person, it’s not the most comfortable ride.
I never get motion sick on rides but this one destroyed me so bad I had to sit down and couldn’t ride anything for 4 hours and even then I felt like I was on the verge of puking.
I've ridden an orbiter once or twice. I really enjoyed it, but it caught me off guard with how intense it was? Not necessarily in force (wasnt more than most rides that have an overhead harness seat security), but in constant angle changes. Can be straining on the shoulders and sternum but fun all around and definitely worth trying at least once if it interests you.
I want to one day go on a Remix! They look the bastard child of a g-force training centrifuge, and that looks like so much fun! I don't think that flat rides get enough love! They can be just as thrilling and creative as any roller coaster!
My memory isn't TOO good but I'm pretty sure there's one of these that is always at the State Fair of Texas and it's always fascinating to watch. Pretty sure it's one of the model twos since I don't recall the inversion being at the level of the remix.
..you may need to distinguish your postings as between "thrill" rides and conventional enjoyment rides. While enjoying an amusement park overall, some have no interest in dare/extreme physical rides, going upside down or so fast all that can be seen while riding, is a blur.
I am so happy that this series is back.

The remixes are really crazy

Thanks for using my content :D. It is cool seeing my content used my larger creators!
Thanks for allowing usage!
As a teenager this was one of my favorites at the local fair
I've been riding the orbiter since I was 10
I was able to ride a fairground orbiter many many years ago....to this day it is one of my favorite flat rides i've been on!!
Yay first episode of flat ride friday!
Yey...was hoping you'd cover the Orbiter. Quite common in the UK. Was a regular on our travelling fair circuit from early 1980s. Just like nothing else I'd ever seen..was just old enough to ride and loved it.

Very good and detailed video! love the intro aswell! Can't wait to see more flat ride friday!!!!

The remix doesn't actually invert riders. It just lifts a little more than sideways. Btw glad to see this flat ride series come back in a new form!
Orbiter is my favorite flat ride! Intense, thrilling, and fun!

Love the new series!! PLEASE do a video on a Classic Scrambler ride like at many Six Flags parks, my grandma operated one!
I love the flat ride series! I'm so happy to see a new one uploaded!
YESSS!!! Thank you for bringing this series back
I just rode my first one this week in Los Banos ca at a fair and is operated by Butler Amusements. Really fantastic ride with crazy laterals !

These ones are like that 1, but it only goes sideways instead of upside down
@@RideGuy2022 Yes, I know. :)
The first Orbiter Ride I remember was at Dreamland Margate in 1979 and the operator booth was underneath centre in paybox like mentioned.
The fact his 2nd version of the ride was used for so long is a pretty awesome achievement!
Yesssss!!! I’m so happy these videos are back
i grew up going to fun forest in seattle (rip) and my absolute favorite ride there was the orbiter. that nostalgia is strooong

I rode this at a mardi gras carnival early last year. I threw up in an outback steakhouse bathroom like 3 hrs later. It's a never again for me😂.

Also if anyone knows the proper name for my wordy ride car security explanation, please let me know!
This ride is HORRIFYING
It makes you black out almost every time, not quite, but almost
I get on it at least twice a day every time I see it at a fair
These were always my fav back in the early 1980's. Dragged my dad on one once, think he liked it more than i did lol
I would, 100%, never be caught dead on one. But they're fascinating as heck!
I want to one day go on a Remix! They look the bastard child of a g-force training centrifuge, and that looks like so much fun!
I don't think that flat rides get enough love! They can be just as thrilling and creative as any roller coaster!
I’m really high but the thumbnail looks like some giant theme park ride robot thing and I’m so into it
What about the energy storm by Soriani&Moser/Zamperla
One of my favorite fair rides as a little kid would’ve loved to ride these that go upside down
The Flying Machine at Busch is one of my faves... didn't know it had quite the pedigree.
Love this series im so happy it’s back, do you think you could do a video on the Funtime star flyer? Ide love to learn about the ride and its history
My memory isn't TOO good but I'm pretty sure there's one of these that is always at the State Fair of Texas and it's always fascinating to watch. Pretty sure it's one of the model twos since I don't recall the inversion being at the level of the remix.
Can't wait for the remix episode
My favourite ride. It's the only one that makes me a little queasy. First rode one in my early teens.
Yeeee it’s back !!!
how do extasy rides relate to the orbiter and remix?
Can you do an accident analysis on the death at Tivoli Friheden on the roller coaster Cobra
Amazing, do a series of the remix and the techno power ride
Yesss i missed flat ground rides series
Can you do the pharaoh's fury for flat ride of the week
Used to help the showmen build them in my teen years
i rode one when Coleman and bros had theirs and it was intense
Sounds like it turns to the fairground into an unfairground 🤪
Ok now do one of jump and smile rides
I love the orbiter I also built one
i felt like i was going to die
Power surge
zamperla

Trust me! More of us love it than people who don’t! 💯 people go for thrill rides and coasters. Want swings then go to a playground. 😉
