Do you have a video to illustrate the different steady-states in the Duffing oscillator that occur in the forward and backward sweeping? A video like this speaks more than a drawing.
Thanks for your comments. Have not tried horizontal forcing. The two beams are expected to respond in phase. There is a possibility (in vacuum for example) that the two beams can respond in opposite phase, running into each other. Vertical forcing is also know as parametric forcing.
