I say this as someone who has played almost all of them, and completely unironically: This might be THE most underrated DBZ game period. The fact it was made by people who worked on Street Fighter 2, and how much love was put into the visuals shows, not to mention how a lot of the game is based on manga, and not anime visuals, it feels crazy how this game exists every time I play it. DBZ has never been a series to revisit or remaster any of their games, except that one time with the budokai games (2/3 I guess), but even then the good but plagiarized music was taken out. I just hope this game and the tenkaichi games come back in some capacity. It’s insane how good this game is compared to its limited release.
wholeheartedly agree.. i played all ps1 and onward games and handheld games.. this along with Shin Budokai 2 ... oh man i was here for this ost but im gonna go for shin Budokai 2 rn .. thank me later dbz friends 🙏
It's up there but I do see why this game is often overlooked. It is not a bad game at all but it's something that FighterZ would later do better: be a game that's a fighter first, DB game second but still fun and even crazy like the beloved DB fighters.
Thank you thank you thank you for this!!! Regretfully i skipped this game when it was released but years later i listened to the soundtrack and loved what i heard! While i wouldn't have trouble finding a used copy, I'd loved to see this re-released for newer generations to experience and older generations to relive. Thank you again, as i REALLY love thus tune. 🎵❤️
Tried this game out of sheer curiosity. I gotta say I love the completely different turn it takes from the Budokai series with the Arcade and RPGish elements, also having Chi Chi and King Piccolo as playable fighters was a cool thing to see.

I would love the Budokai style of games to come out cause the Budokai Tenkaichi style has many spiritual successors like Xenoverse.
