Second, my favorite and most preferred choice for bringing those ideas to life are Sharpie Ultra Fine Point markers. They help me keep a steady flow when writing with little to no mistakes. @Bobby Fisher Inspiration is useful, not biting. Use your environment and everything else around you, but other writer's styles. Be creative. Try practicing for a few days without looking at graf and you'll notice your style becoming more unique to who you are. Be open-minded and have confidence in your ideas. Your style should represent you. It's your signature. The more you do them, the more you'll improve and finesse your style. Whenever an idea comes to mind put it down on whatever you write on. Catalog your ideas and use those for references. That applies to old styles too. There's always room for improvement and updating your current style with old concepts.

at my 65, I still write on my daily writing in that way. Some people get offended because I write ALL in upper case. That's my style. Period. Thank YOU for your video. I continue learning. This is ART.
For number four, I would recommend working on an alphabet, think it out, learn each letter and how they interact. Then try to put the letters together and see how they mesh. Even if you thought they were perfect, you'll find flaws when you try to stitch them together. Go back to the drawing board, until letters fit comfortably to make words. Once your name looks right, write it a million times with a ballpoint until you can do it perfect blindfolded. Then get a rusto and see how it looks on walls. Be critical of yourself until you're happy with what you've created

yeah sometimes you gotta make mistakes yourself. Nobody started out great, Most experienced writers had to make their own mistakes and learn from them first-hand, I'm the same way :P
it is and always has been the same in graff. toys obey the rules, kings make the rules. so get over your low self esteem ass and do stuff nobody has done before, but do it good
I agree with him when he says to start out with a skinny pens or tips, paint and markers are expensive. Why waste your paint markers or paint when you’re trying to figure out your style!
Graffiti is graffiti period ur style is what u make it there is no correct way as long as ur consistent and u kill everything I've seen toys kill downtown LA and I cant hate but congratulate
1st: point don't focus on cool extra embellishments 2nd: make sure your letters are the same size but at the same time you can make them different sizes 3rd: don't buy good quality pens to start off you have to use shit ones 4th: you can't draw the tag the way you want 5th: you can't create detailed tags in the comfort in your own home
My question is, is there a minimum amount of letter you SHOULD have I mean four looks good but my actual tag has two letters and idgaf just wondering the general thought
Wicked video man fuck all these negative comments. Really informative and easy to follow vid. Hope to see more :) PS you got any pics/vids of your actual tag/graffiti?
I understand what you doing but your techniques of tagging your name is of 2000's... And not of the 70' s n the 80"s... I'm a Graffiti Writer since '79 til this very day... You can write any way you like!! Cuz it's about you n your expression,..
Every one ik worries about the brand pens and size off the nibs I worry how it looks I also do think about what im using when im tagging but idrc most the time
I can see your point, I don’t really like some of his letters (his f and e namely). But I think the simplicity helps for toys to read it. But yeah, he knows what he’s saying.
I've been in the graff game for 8 years and I've seen the most toyish tags on the streets yet that toyish tag is all over the city. When it comes to getting up style doesn't matter. Its about who can get the illest spot the most dangerous spot. A spot that no one else can get to but you and have people wonder how that tag got up there. For those of you watching a "how to tag" video stop watching because at the end of the video you'll go back to see what letters you liked and you'll use them. Don't bite style. Create your own and have a good letter combination. Practice makes perfect. I can write my name with my eyes closed. Dam I love this graff shit.
ive been practicing my one liner tag for years, im pretty satified with it. My advice would be to want flow want creativity and want style! Also practice writing the alphabet in different styles
Exceptions to these rules, are if you emphasize your first letter VS emphasizing you last letter, because illuminating first letters is a logic applied to old english writing. the last letter can have the same application, but he is right, it looks trashy, but if you do it to your first letter and keep the rest in uniformity, then that is acceptable and can look quite dope.
When you’re a toy you can only put one point on your crowns. As you get better you’ll earn more points. Some say there’s a writer who’se earned 17 points on their crowns, but it might just be a rumor idk
crowns are so cringe lol. i consider the only rule of graff to be that you dont write over others' shit, but if theres a big stupid crown then i dont mind

i just started off tagging. started off as desk tagging and now i’m working on my handstyle. i’m gonna do my buddies van and then my own album covers as well. thank you for the advice sir.
you definitely ruined your buddys van
Wish I had this video when I started, I thought the tips were pretty good and I don’t think in anyway that you are putting rules on graff or trying to put down people on their different styles, onya mate!
Everyone starts off with toyish writes but you progress during time with different writes, but dont over do it with extra arrows or " just try to keep a steady flow of the letters and your name will come out your own way and unique
I've watched this after buying a basic chisel tip, uni broad 8mm chisel tip, molotow dripstick and molotow masterpiece speedflow to get me started. when I heard I didn't needed fancy stuff I got mad mad
same I got the uni and I’m a beginner and after I watched this I got pretty upset
Man I've been tagging for a few years and still never have gotten a dripstick or molotow anything..... Just a small black or white chisel tip is good.
great vid wish i seen it 15 years ago when i first started lol. u explained it very well.
important about graffiti in general is to paint the city and have fun. There are no rules... feel free & do whatever you want to :)
If you don't have style though no one will remember you and you'll get crossed out or burned over.
ive always been complimented on my letter spacing cuz i have a short 4 letter tag with wide letters it’s really simple but always comes out sick
I believe everyone has their own styles in graff and no one can tell you want you cant do or add to your style if that's what you like.. at the end of the day it doesnt matter what people say about your style.. just dont be toy
I'm a relatively new writer, but I've filled up half a notebook with tags just consistently practicing letters and characters
CMF23 some unsolicited advice. Fill as many notebooks as you can with tags and throws. I filled at least one notebook a day for many years. It doesn’t take as long as you would think and it helps a ton..

Getting caught up in the adrenaline is such a good point, my first Street car tag sucked ass It was legible but it’s super cloudy and I wasn’t happy with it, still felt good to hit it though
u tagged a car?
@@yakub888 streetcars are trains on the road, just public transit
@@elliejelly8815 ?? Wtf does that mean

Thanks for the tips mate. Good luck everyone that comes across this video don’t let anyone tell you what you are:/ tbh people that use the term toy on other people are just people that are so insecure and egotistical on their own work that they like to shit on other people’s work. Do whatever that makes you happy as long as you have good technique and original style don’t let anyone tell you otherwise
Sure he doesn't have good style now but sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders to get better. Good video man.
I'M A ARTIST MYSELF KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !!! ME MYSELF I'M NOT THE GREATEST GRAFFITI ARTIST IN THE WORLD BUT YOUR TUTORIALS ARE EXCELLENT!!! PROPS OVER HERE!!!✌✌✌
Dude there's a tag out there full of embelishments and imo it's the best tag in town HAHAHAH, but it came from an awesome writer so he probably knew what he was doing
My hand style is absolute shit and I been doing this about a year. When you start no one tells you about the learning curve lol.
Props to all the guys hiding behind their keyboard shitting on the guy giving decent tips. Greetings from Paris, I wish I would have had something like that when I began ;) Keep it up
Jean-Claude Vandal Lmao they’re shitting on him because there’s no right way to do art, it’s supposed to be fun and people do whatever they want eventually they’ll find what they like and they’ll master it, that’s the point
they aint decent tips ... lol
maybe in france this is good ... lol
@@ChikoSmoke2400 Haha so there's no right way but your shitting on people because they're not doing it the way you want ? You see the contradiction here, right ?
@@zebedeerotten533 Paris is the most active european city, graffiti wise. Thank you bye, ignorant fuck. And yes they're decent tips for a beginner but I wouldn't expect you to know your ass from your elbow so ....
Jean-Claude Vandal tu possède le meilleur nom de tout yt
Art with rules, yeah that sounds fun
There's no rules on how you're supposed to tag. That's like me saying I think your girlfriend is ugly because I don't like her looks and style and she should wear this and do this and then I'll like her... It's not meant for you to like
not registered well you can do whatever you want but no other good writers will like it and you’ll be a toy, and have your shit wrecked and painted over lol
aren't halos used when a tagger died cuz when i see 1 i think automatically somebody died i have been in graffiti and tagging for a while and this was a rule yk just wanted to tell
geez this mf tried to make bad letters as an example and they still rocked
i've been getting really frustrated by not being able to progress mt tags and make them better and this video helped a tonne cheers bro
Spanish class is a great time to practice (-;
Video is really good the music in the background really pulled it together nice job

If you're to break a rule a clean break is preferable 😆 love Graff channels

Graff Lounge I have a different hand style for every pimple on your face...
yeah , just as I suspected...none
Graff Lounge lol. Seriously , your advice is not bad but you’re handstyle looks like corporate graff .. there is nothing organic about it .. it’s non descript , non regional and looks like a bastardized version of numerous styles .. imho
See now that's a more respectable way to go about critique, while I disagree I appreciate the honest feedback and I'll take it on board. Peace
I mean, maybe I just suck at this but I quite liked the fat marker "ink" tag [without the Embellishments]
You have a nice hand style don't listen to them your not sloppy and the letters are in proportion.👍👑
Going from small letters to bigger letters looks good on a nonstop
1:32 I actually like this tag
my first marker was 17 mm chisel tip, dint learn anything. but then i buyed 2 5mm chisel tips, and i learned and now i am much better with big markers than the smaller markers.
There are no rules in Grafitti
gino walter yes there are idiot 😂😂
There are ethics.
@@ronaldogutierrez8807 so there are rules for vandalism? Rules for an activity/a subculture that is all about breaking rules/laws?
@@aestheticcaveman9987 you missed my point mate..
FBKR yes graffiti is an art
As a tagger back in the day cursive is your best way to start
some good advice, but at the end of the day do what feels right to u.
yeah sometimes you gotta make mistakes yourself. Nobody started out great, Most experienced writers had to make their own mistakes and learn from them first-hand, I'm the same way :P
tip #4 improved my writing by 100%
There's no rules in graf stop putting rules to something that's free.
Rodney Ayala there are many rules in graff.
it is and always has been the same in graff. toys obey the rules, kings make the rules. so get over your low self esteem ass and do stuff nobody has done before, but do it good
there are rules when it comes to painting on the street.
leon is one of the toys the kings hate.
@@g0stn0te what are the "rules" ?
I practice my graffiti by just writing down paragraphs of my digital textbooks and it really helps.
I personally hate "halos" it just most likely doesnt fit in or makes your tag look unbalanced.
I agree with him when he says to start out with a skinny pens or tips, paint and markers are expensive. Why waste your paint markers or paint when you’re trying to figure out your style!
thank you so much, this helps a lot!
Graffiti is graffiti period ur style is what u make it there is no correct way as long as ur consistent and u kill everything I've seen toys kill downtown LA and I cant hate but congratulate
1st: point don't focus on cool extra embellishments
2nd: make sure your letters are the same size but at the same time you can make them different sizes
3rd: don't buy good quality pens to start off you have to use shit ones
4th: you can't draw the tag the way you want
5th: you can't create detailed tags in the comfort in your own home
My question is, is there a minimum amount of letter you SHOULD have I mean four looks good but my actual tag has two letters and idgaf just wondering the general thought
great lesson mate, keep it up!
thanks man, will do!
I LOVE YOUR HANDSTYLE :)
BTW GREAT VIDEO!!
Nice video man keep it up
Watching this in class in 2022 come back please!
good handstyle bro
Nice wholesome comment bro
Wicked video man fuck all these negative comments. Really informative and easy to follow vid. Hope to see more :)
PS you got any pics/vids of your actual tag/graffiti?
Lol he makes good points but his own style is questionable..
Wdym? He’s very good
Damn your hand style with that chisel tip is crazy
You’ve helped me a lot man in graff love it
I understand what you doing but your techniques of tagging your name is of 2000's... And not of the 70' s n the 80"s... I'm a Graffiti Writer since '79 til this very day... You can write any way you like!! Cuz it's about you n your expression,..
Every one ik worries about the brand pens and size off the nibs I worry how it looks
I also do think about what im using when im tagging but idrc most the time
Theres no mistakes if it's ur own handstyle
Brilliant advice Graff Lounge, now I know to remember and to practice drawing or doing an graffiti tags, graffiti pieces and graffiti drawing.
This fools styles are lame af but his logic behind his message is on point
It's supposed to be lame. Can't show toys how to tag with letters they can't read.
funny how that worked out huh
Biggest mistake... Add crowns above your tags
Your just not a king at what you do
ive been practicing my one liner tag for years, im pretty satified with it. My advice would be to want flow want creativity and want style! Also practice writing the alphabet in different styles
Yo do you have a Instagram? If so can add extra tips for handstyles .
XeuyTkeuiTrauiT 1's yeah man insta is @thegrafflounge. Might make another video soon with more tips
most importantly; do what you want
I had to change my name 'slac' to something else because someome better than me was using the name
Lmao my first tag was slack
Hoodie here
Exceptions to these rules, are if you emphasize your first letter VS emphasizing you last letter, because illuminating first letters is a logic applied to old english writing. the last letter can have the same application, but he is right, it looks trashy, but if you do it to your first letter and keep the rest in uniformity, then that is acceptable and can look quite dope.
Oh thanx soo much👌👍
you helpd me!
Expected this to be another horrible generic graffiti channel but I gotta agree on most of the stuff u say.
Keep it up dude
Honestly impressed with this bro. Good job. People need to listen to this.
Another embellishment is a crown above the hit up 🤦♂️😂
So, you're the king, what's the problem
@@Unknown-kd3ri If you go in as a bloody toy and don't get anything good on the wall, it's nothing but cringy if you're going with a crown.
