I have one of these and I've been slowly modifying it to be a great daily. I'm also trying to replace everything that can be replaced so it can last, (because mine has 284k miles on it. all from one owner). Even though people dont consider this to be a high competitor in the Si family, its by far my favorite. It's so different than anything else I've owned
The shifter reminds me of my Honda N600 it’s like bringing back the shifter of the dash. I’m with you on the upgrades.Mugen wheels and greddy exhaust with skunk2 intake , coilovers and done
They're okay at best, I like mine but it's a night and day difference after putting in an 8th Gen SI full swap. Revs to 8k now and actually pulls thanks to the LSD which no 7th Gen civic or RSX had from the factory. The steering system is also fairly trash and has wild alignment issues from the factory and horrible when modifying the ride height, there's a great video from Motoiq on how to make it not trash.
It doesn't have real vtec it has reverse V-tec, I just finished swapping out my K20A3 for a K20Z3 out of an 8th Gen Si for that exact reason. It's too bad I can't post photos, the a3 head is trash. A CRV k24 head flows more air than the K20A3. K20A3 is an economy engine made for fuel economy, it can make 350hp boosted unmodified which isn't too bad for the trash it is.

Of all the cars I've owned the EP3 is the one I miss the most.
My first manual car! I had an 02 for a few years. Ended up selling it to import a JDM CTR EP3 😁
The engine is actually a k20a3 the type r had the k20a that’s the engine you want the k20a.

1000% the stock a3 and 5 speed is not the best. Its a great daily but i wish America would have gotten the k20a and the 6 speed

Funny thing the first 3 characters in the VIN are EP3, so be it
EP3 has the K20a3 and it does not have VTEC
It does have VTEC on the intake cam, doesn't have it on the exhaust side.
