*When is it going to go live?*
This mode (and Aurora) is gonna appear on PBE on 25th June. They're gonna be on the live servers on 17th July.
The reason why it's 3 weeks is because this specific patch cycle lasts 3 weeks. We usually have 1 or 2 of those each year.
In a month? Seriously? This mode looks like something made by interns to be completely fair
edit: I'm someone with 100% completion in vampire survivors. Instead of throwing out this half-baked skin ad, they could've easily turned it into long-term gamemode, with high player retention. They could even monetize it by simply letting players use skins in it, and make the characters unlockable by exploring maps. I know lol players like to cope, but mark my words, this mode will be disappointing.

@@gruncik1841 I believe it's uncertain what is gonna happen to it in the long run.
I think Riot's philosophy is: if they see good numbers at release - they will do more with it.
There are 4 maps in this mode - i'd say it feels better than average mode they used to do - but also staying realistic aswell.

Note: Riot now has a dedicated team working on game modes (I believe it was around 20 people? - could be wrong here though).
They had similar, but smaller, team up until 2016/2017, but for few years after that, there was really noone working on game modes exclusively.
So this should mean that we will eventually get other game modes too.
Unless Swarm is a massive failure, Riot just looks at numbers (wouldn't be the first time) and they decide to halt it. Only time will tell.

i hope this eventually gets more updates with new characters and maps to play, new upgrades to choose from, would be a cool thing, also, just comparing to the games i have played, the pick up stat to upgrade weapon system is very much vampire survivors, but having a main weapon tied to the character, a special ability (in this case ult), plus how the bosses play out doing AoEs and stuff and the somewhat random events is way more like Holocure.
i have doubts about potential updates, for this period, the mode is planned for only 1 month. Maybe, if they bring it out for other events such as Halloween/Christmas?

Not really that the whole dev team left but that they scrapped the porject and are starting it over again and they said it will take several years for them to even talk about the MMO again. So I expect it to take a long time before something will happen regarding the MMO.

I see a lot of people being negative about this at the comments, but this is a step on the right direction, seeing that riot is actually trying to push for fun modes is the best that can happen

Looks good, but that augment interface popping up every 10s is gonna get really annoying really fast.
It's no different than how any other of those bullet-hell survivor games works. There's really no other way to do it and still ensure that you're actually getting upgrades.
@@Dyanosis yeah but the league brain can't comprehend the change in pacing: normal league requires you to be active all the time, no tab/menu pops up in the center of the screen *unless* prompted by the player. Meanwhile this mechanic looks and feels intrusive, even tho it's common for this genre.

im genuinely convinced league players are the whiniest, most entitled players I've seen. i agree with some of the complaints at riot and league in the past few months, but holy shit i despise the constant negativity. im convinced some of these people don't even enjoy league. what's the point of playing a game if ur not enjoying it
If you don't know your audience, then it's your fault. You are selling this to league players, you have to take into consideration the type of players they are @@controlcon

I kinda wish it would just be like normal summoners rift where you build normal items for specific mobs and takes strategy / using abilities. Rather than just running around letting it do everything for you
Thats literally all they had to do and what everyone expected. Instead we get this that looks like a small company made a smartphone app that tries to copy LoL.

God i hate that its just vampire survivors really enjoyed SG and Odyssey. Well at least its a sign that they're giving it another try
Odyssey was one of a kind, sucks that this is basically a watered-down version but we'll take what we can get

I've been league free for 3 years but as a huge fan of vampire survivors and many other rogue-likes I guess it's time to come back.
Odyssey was one of my favorite modes, and it was so much fun back in the day so I personally am really optimistic about this mode..
I genuinely love this style of game; looking forward to it!

Why did they decide to just clone something when what they had with SG/Odyssey was so unique to LoL? This existing makes me mad that they haven't brought SG/Odyssey back.
Edit: Riot Sarhaian is the copium supplier. This mode was started as a free-time project by him, as explained by Vandiril. While this is not my cup of tea, League now has a game modes dedicated team! Gimme SG/Odyssey next time, oh holy Sarhaian!

I quit about 4 months ago, everything I see just reinforces my feelings towards it. League just feels like it's on a downward spiral. SG/Odyssey was so great, this honestly kind of looks like trash.
maybe they change how you control the character, preparation for LOL 2 (after source code is leaked and the hacker is now able to DDOS pro players)
Basically Riot Sirhaian created this in his free-time. At first Riot didn't want to invest into it, but eventually they got convinced and followed it up.
But it all started from Sirhaian - who is just a fan of Vampire Survivors - so that's the explanation pretty much.
There is a dedicated team to game modes now - so if this type of mode does well - we can probably expect other game modes in the future (copium).
@@Vandiril I'm really hoping for Odyssey/SG back some day cuz those were my most fond memories of League and playing it with friends. Though this will suffice and at least partly fill that hole. But I really hope they won't give up on PvE development.

and wow, this bossfight reminds me a bit of mmorpg raid like in lost ark which had same view (or wildstar, rip), now that's what I like
league in wasd would have been so bad for many reasons

Push the gamemode, and they can expand on it. It just depends on the playrates. Now that they have a dedicated gamemodes team, they can work on stuff like this, but if it's not successful, they'll just try a different project.
For now the gamemode look meeeeh, things that the community wants i believe is a shop/shopface, full character abilitys, more impact, mouse movement, being able to normal autoattack, reasons to move around the map not just mobs, when an ability is maxed custom image and a upgraded version of the skill (looks and all). All these things would probably make the gamemode feel more impactful and kinda 50/50 league and vampire survivor which is what i believe alot more ppl want from this
So It's gonna be like the Star Guardian Invasion? Only certain champions dressed in Anima Squad universe skins? Definitely will try it out.
Not only are we finally, FINALLY getting a PvE game mode but it's co-op vampire survivors with League champions to boot. I'm so HYPED!!

@@JJBeauregard1 Okay, my apologies for a little negativity, but let me clarify my statement.
Trying to make VS-gamemode engageable in junky League will be pretty hard, it will start getting old REALLY FAST. Most likely the second game you're in, you'll see the upgrade window pop out every 6 seconds and that sounds pretty tedious to me.
I'm also sceptical that they'll try to monetize it somehow and ruin it just like Path of the Champions gamemode in LoR. (they've turned it from a fun roguelike to a grind-fiesta with earnable mode-specific lootboxes and glorified currency)
Even tho i'm a big fan of PvE, i've been disappointed in Riot so many times now that i doubt they'll actually pull it off.
I'm still interested to play this mode even tho it doesn't seem like it, i just don't see how that would be fun for more that ~2 hours...
But at the same time, maybe that will push me to finally buy Vampire Survivors and have an original feeling for this genre.
P.S: "what parties are you on about?" - most League players don't go to parties (or even socialize), i'm still confused why did you even type that...

its not polished and live yet so i think theres lot of here and there to improve, my biggest problem is the pause everytime you get an upgrade. this thing happen often that in multiplayer, drop the tempo of the game if you play with other people. i think it shall not paused the game, but it appear like on the corner right or left screen and we can select that.
also i think this is more like holocure than vampire survivor due to scaling with non damaging stats, so i think more detailed info in game needed (like holding alt actually show detailed stuff)
also, i think augment should drop at start like arena, kinda make you have an idea what you gonna build
it is basically done for release. if it is going live on PBE there will be only bugfixes and nothing more. I expected more from riot, having some great games in this space like Vampire survivors, Nordinc Ashes, brotato etc this looks BASIC and low quality even for "mode"
the one problem i have looking at it right now is that, the pause ruin the momentum of the game... I wish they add another button that u can open up like shop for upgrade, and so it doesn't ruin the experience with others and in general. Other than that, its look really fun and cant wait
Welcome to roguelikes with multiplayer. If u played vampire survivors with local coop or remote play it is basically the same. It might get tiring to wait, but u wont be irritated as much as you imagine.
aatrox fight reminds me of a the Forgotten Sentinel boss fight from the Shatters dungeon in the game Realm of the Mad God
Does it have controller support? It seems more intuitive with a controller.
probably not but you could map the inputs to a controller.
left stick for movement, right stick for the mouse, and face buttons for the abilities

I have to say the event doesn't really look like playing League of Legends. I know they had to change stuff to make PvE work, but It feels a little bit disappointing.
Am I really playing my favorite champion against a horde of monsters if I don't have the original champion abilities, the classic LOL movement or items?

Im interested to see how this mode runs on lower end pc's, usually in the summer i can only play on a laptop which isnt great. Hopefully i can still try to have fun with this, especially when its only going to be there for a couple of weeks.

I don't know if this game has anything that any other auto-battler type game doesn't have. Id much rather play brotato or 20 mins till dawn.

Also it's not literally VS or then half of survivors games is literally VS too, I haven't seen abilities evolving through substats in VS other than some weapons merging with accessories, not saying they couldn't come up with more original gameplay but I think there's nothing more to expect from the company that made DOTA with another skin ?

I assume theyve just assigned a very small portion of their devs to this, not knowing how well it will perform. This is also the beta and a lot of stuff is placeholder so I expect it to look a better on release. Ill probably play it 1-2 times then never touch it lol

@@IceedPro dont get me wrong, the game should have a workshop for everyone to create custom rooms and play whichever mode they want, like dota. so we could play dominion, 3x3, everything.
but this new game mode is as low as possible on the effort side, so they can milk money, it doesnt deserve to be permanent. 1-2 matches and you will be bored of it cause it offers no healthy replayabiliity, almost everything is set in stone, you just walk and see everything dying.
you dont even choose who you want to play, neither have the character skills to use in actual combat, very rudimentar gameplay. this is coming from someone who has played a lot of vampire survivor clones. (deep rock galatic survivor is the best btw)

The problem is that this isn't what people were asking for; the old PvE players didn't want this.
But if they don't play it, Riot will use that as an excuse to say "People didn't really want PvE back anyway", and if they do play it, Riot will just keep doing more "Bullet Heaven" modes, so it's a Lose Lose situation for anyone who liked the old PvE stuff.
I hope my experience from Vampire Survivors, 20 Minutes Till Dawn, Holocure and MagicCraft help on this new gamemode solo.

its actually really bad cuz if i want to play this type of game i have like 5 similar to this but 100 times better because they are designed for it

Wish it was more like Minecraft Dungeons / Diablo / Hades / or smth. Where you can choose your eq (like weapons, armor, artefacts, etc.) with different effects, being able to attack what you want, dodge and all that (you know, gameplay more on the active side). I like VS very much tho😅🙂(i have like 150h in it).

Guys just to share it to you even thou. it's not about this event but I think I saw MF got new VFX in other youtuber tester for aurora. and her vfx is much more clear than the old one and this game mode is bring back memories of odyssey and starguardian huhuhuhuhu all you need is to survive and get mythic icon
I see that Riot have released a gamemode called "Runeterra Survivors"
I wish they would've stuck more to regular league pve coop like odyssey and just added augments while still having the different perks that you could equip before queueing.
I’d love the monsters from this mode to be actual skins for the champions used. That aatrox looked cool
